Chapter Six

Six

Lucy

Jaylen leads me through the lobby of the nicest hotel I have ever stepped foot in. Clearly the room was not purchased through some discount travel site, but likely reserved on a thick credit card with no spending limit. Jaylen gives a friendly nod to the receptionist at the front desk as we pass by on our way to the elevator.

“Did you say you were here for work?” I ask, unable to ignore the nagging questions forming in my mind. The luxury hotel is really setting off my curiosity.

“I didn’t say, and I thought we were keeping it casual.” He squeezes my hand tightly as we step into the elevator.

“Hold the door!” someone shouts from the lobby. I quickly pound the door-close button. Jaylen laughs as the elevator slides shut.

The inside of Jaylen’s hotel room is tidy and clean, with a suitcase mostly packed and ready to go near the door. He gent-ly places his new sign on the armchair near the window before squatting down in front of the minifridge.

“Can I get you a drink? Vodka or whiskey? Not a whole lot of options here,” he says.

The bed is tightly made up with a chocolate resting on the pillow, which I discreetly slip into my purse while Jaylen’s not looking. As he searches through the fridge, I scan the room in hopes of learning more about my new friend. I spot a stylish dark green suit resting across his open suitcase, but I can’t think of a single job that requires a suit, besides an investment banker or the Riddler.

“Lucy?” he interrupts my visual snoop.

“Jack and Coke or something like it is fine. Thanks,” I say, kicking my shoes off.

Jaylen gets up and mixes two drinks on the top of the dresser. As he hands me one, his finger grazes the inside of my wrist. I have so many tattoos that it’s impossible for me to keep track of each one. Jaylen’s touch reminds me of its existence, and I find the delighted smile that spreads across his face worrisome. I pull my hand back and bring the glass to my mouth, taking a sip.

“Don’t read too much into it. I got it during a Friday-the-thirteenth flash deal.” I hope my warning keeps his expectations realistic. This is one night of fun for me, followed by months of hyperfocus on my dream. There’s no budding relationship waiting for us in the morning, no phone number exchange as we say our see-you-laters.

“I noticed your tattoo at the bar,” Jaylen says, despite my warning.

My phone vibrates against my hip, startling me and breaking our intense eye contact. I discreetly pull it out and check the notification. It’s a text.

I omit the part about stealing from a local tattoo shop because my defense for jeopardizing my career is suspect at best. He’s so hot I could bark won’t hold up in a court of Maya.

I set my phone down on the nightstand and join Jaylen on the foot of the bed. Something about sitting on a bed with him feels incredibly intimate despite the arm’s-reach distance between us.

“I would normally say something like ‘I never do things like this,’ but since I’m being my worst self you should know that I have,” I say, gently kicking my dangling feet back and forth, attempting to distract myself from the smell of his warm musk cologne and whatever coconut curl cream coats his tight curls.

“What, commit a misdemeanor with a stranger and follow them back to their hotel room for casual sex, only to never hear from them again?” Jaylen says with a slight giggle.

“Honestly, it happens more frequently than it should.” I gulp down the rest of my drink and place it on the floor by my feet. Jaylen does the same.

“This is weird foreplay, isn’t it?”

“It’s been a weird night.” I bat my eyelashes a bit and lean back on the bed. My skirt rides up my legs as I lounge comfortably on the oversize plush mattress. Jaylen does the same, leaning back on his elbows as gravity pulls us together.

“Can I tell you something?” he asks softly. At some point in our conversation, he moved closer to me—or maybe I’ve been inching toward him.

I tousle my bangs so I can get a better view of him, and nod. I’m worried if I open my mouth a sexual demand will come blurting out and I’ll frighten him off.

“I don’t want to ruin the moment or blow my shot at a night with you, but I like you. I like the worst parts of you. You’re…” He pauses to think, like he’s choosing his words carefully.

“Please don’t say I’m not like other girls,” I whisper, my voice breathier than I would like. I stare at him wide-eyed and unblinking, practically begging him not to ruin the moment.

“I wasn’t going to. If anything, you’re like all the coolest ones I’ve ever met. I was going to say you’re fun to be around.”

“You don’t have to say things like that. We’re never going to see each other again,” I say, staring at his perfect mouth.

“Because we’re never going to see each other again, I wanted you to know.”

Caught up in the moment between the handsome stranger and the fancy hotel, I kiss him. The relentless good guy only in town for one night of anonymous fun. The no-good thief. And apparently, the excellent kisser. He cups my cheek gently in his big palm and kisses me back softly. The taste of whiskey lingers on his tongue as I drink him up. His hand slowly drops from my cheek and runs down to the small of my back. We melt into each other in an instant. I draw a long breath and his tongue sinks deep into my mouth.

I am done being delicate. I grab Jaylen by the back of his neck and pull him in closer, pressing my whole body against his. Our hands are all over each other as we rush to undress one another. His body is firm, but his skin is soft and hot against my chilled limbs.

He pulls away from my mouth to catch his breath. Slowing our pace, I lay my head on the pillow as Jaylen kisses down my neck. His lips graze down the middle of my sternum and he continues to taste my body well past my stomach. I squirm on my back in anticipation as he kisses my body like he’s missed it.

His tongue traces along the insides of my thighs until I let out a nervous giggle; it tickles in the best way possible. I remember the thrill of being on his shoulders, and the friction of his neck on the insides of my upper thighs. He stops to stare up at me as I lie out before him naked with my legs spread.

“Is everything okay?” I prop myself up on my elbows, wondering what’s the holdup. I don’t think I can endure any more anticipation.

“You look so good. I only get one night with you, and I want to remember every inch,” he says before disappearing between my legs.

His mouth is hot against my delicate skin, and the friction makes me call out his name; despite only learning it a few hours ago, it comes to me naturally. His tongue presses against my clit and right when I think the pleasure is too much, there’s a bit of suction and my legs start to tremble. I lace my fingers through his hair and pull him in closer to me, but we can never get close enough. He slides two fingers inside me, and I come in seconds.

Our movements are familiar, but the pleasure is exhilarating—almost dangerous. He enjoys my body with such euphoria that I’m jealous of the connection he has with it. I pull his face back up to my mouth—tasting myself. As he hovers over me, I wrap my legs around his hips.

“Fuck me,” I whisper, looking at Jaylen with pleading eyes. It’s like I’ve never needed anything more.

Jaylen reaches across the bed for his pants. From his wallet, he pulls out a tiny gold package and makes quick work rolling the condom over himself. Much like the rest of his body, his dick is impressive. As I size him up, I realize why he was so confident in his pursuit.

He plants a firm kiss on my lips before he grabs his hard cock and guides it inside me, slowly but forcefully. The pressure makes him gasp for air. I bite my bottom lip to prevent myself from letting out an embarrassing primal scream.

Jaylen wraps his arm around my lower back and lifts me up so I’m tilted closer to him. He grits his teeth as we grind against each other. His muscles flex under the strain as he props both of us up. I can’t help but watch the veins in his forearms pool with blood. His movement gets deeper and harder as he tentatively watches my moans get faster and louder. We move in unison as I scream out in pleasure, and a few thrusts later he allows himself to reach the apex deep inside me.

After he finishes, he wraps his arms around me. I nestle into him as we both gather our composure and pant, catching our breath.

“Again?” he asks with a devilish grin.
