Chapter Twenty-Six
Jocelyn
I curl up on the floor .
I am so ashamed.
It’s horrible enough that Luke rapes me but to be “cleaned off” by a cousin is so fucking degrading.
I can’t look at Levon. I can’t stand the sight of him.
Luke kneels down beside me and I hear him laugh.
“Jocelyn, didn’t you enjoy your bath?”
“I did, Daddy,” I whisper.
“I can see your juices all over Levon’s face. Do you want to return the favor?” Luke asks softly, stroking my hair out of my face.
I shake my head. “I’m yours, Daddy.”
“You are mine, but we’re sharing today.”
I swallow hard.
He grabs my wrist and drags me to the radiator. I’m terrified of what he’s going to do, but he simply cuffs me there.
“I need to go check on the kids. You two stay quiet.”
He closes the door behind him.
“I’m sorry,” Levon says quietly. “He...”
“Don’t speak. Just... don’t.”
I tug on the cuff, and I try to free my hand. I tug harder and the cuff clangs against the radiator, but I don’t care. I need to get free if I’m going to save the kids.
I tug again and the pipe I’m cuffed to comes free. I’m so shocked I freeze.
“Go.” Levon says hurriedly. “Go get help.”
I crawl over to my cane and stand behind the door.
“What are you doing?” He whispers.
“I’m ending this.” I hiss.
We both stand with bated breath until the door swings open. I step out and swing and my cane connects with Luke’s head. He stumbles back, and I hit him again, and again.
Blood splays across the wall as he falls over.
I don’t have time to check if he’s dead. I can’t give him the opportunity to get the upper hand.
Levon looks at me. “Get the keys. Let me out.”
“Good luck,” I say.
I walk out of the room and hurry as fast as I can. Out of the house and along the path to the field next door. I bump into Richter first.
“What are you doing outside the house?” Richter asks. “Do we need to come back?”
“No, we don’t. Where’s Skylar?”
“She’s hiding from me. She’s not very good.” He looks behind him at the small section of trees.
“Take me to her. We’re leaving.”
“What about Daddy?” he asks.
“We’ll... meet him later,” I lie. I nudge him. “Come on, let’s go.”
“Keep up,” he says, jogging in front of me. He skips a little, and I get frustrated.
“Richter, we need to hurry up. Where’s Skylar?”
“Through this bush,” he calls, hopping through it.
I frown and step over the bush.
Before I can even react, the bear trap closes around my leg and digs into my flesh.
I cry out and collapse to the floor. “Richter!”
“I have to protect Skylar,” he says. “That’s what Daddy says.”
“Daddy will hurt Skylar,” I grit out, grimacing. “Help me out and we can go be a family together. A proper family.”
“I have a family,” he says. “Daddy is my family.”
