Chapter 5 #2
Taking a nap seemed to be the next best thing he did today. There was nothing around that would harm him, and he’d never felt so relaxed before as he was here. Just as he was dozing off, he heard from his faerie, who had picked the name of Tulip. He loved that and told her so.
After his nap, he went to find his mom and Sidney.
They were still talking to his parents, and he couldn’t believe how relaxed his mom looked.
She smiled at him, and he felt it through his entire being.
He’d never love anyone like he did his mom, and he knew for as long as he lived, he’d never find a better mother than her. She was the greatest there was.
After talking to Storm and Alex, he was starving.
As they started to get ready to eat, he decided that he was going to see if he could come here more often.
There was so much to see, and he was sure that he’d only seen a small portion of things in this realm.
Storm said that she’d make it so that he could come here anytime he wanted, and that she’d be happy to see him.
Even Alex said that he’d be happy to spend some time with him in this realm or the other.
They visited from time to time, and he was going to make sure he spent some time with them as much as they’d allow him to.
They were great people. He wished there was magic that could make it so that his mom could speak and hear, and asked Storm about it.
“I’m afraid that there is nothing I can do about that, as she was born that way.
I can make it so that she can speak and hear here, but that’s about all I can do.
This place is as magical as it comes to helping her, but I’m afraid even I’m limited on what I can do in the real world.
” He told her that it would be wonderful for her to hear here and she made it so that she could. “Hello, Mom. I love you.”
“I love you too. Oh my, this is wonderful. But almost too much.” Mom put her hands over her ears and sat there quietly for a little while. “It’s a bit overwhelming, but I’d not give it up for the world. It’s so nice to hear your voice. I can’t believe how much I’ve missed by not having my hearing.”
He noticed that she was crying, and he felt bad for not asking her if she wanted to be able to hear. But she told him that it was just a bit to get used to and was happy that she was able to hear his voice. She told him that she’d not trade him talking to her for the world. Then she hugged him.
“I love you, Thatcher. So very much.” They both cried a bit, but then everyone was a bit emotional right now.
When Storm said that dinner was coming, they tried their best to calm down, but his emotions were all over the place.
He could hear his mom, and she could hear him.
There wasn’t a greater gift in the world than that, he thought.
Then, he got excited when Sidney asked his mother about Olivia.
“Mom, I know you can’t fix things we’re born with, but what about injuries after birth?
” Storm asked him what he meant. “Olivia was told she can’t have children.
” Storm told him that as soon as he claimed her as his mate, she’d been healed.
Thatcher noticed everyone was smiling again, and his mother was crying harder with happy tears.
He was excited that he might yet be a big brother.
Dinner was mostly meat. He figured that, as dragons, they’d need to have more of that than greens.
Alex drank a glass of wine, and he told him that he could eat, but he’d not enjoy it as much as he would usually.
He didn’t ask, but when Storm blushed, he figured that it was an inside story that he didn’t want to know.
It was just then that the faeries that had been in the flower gardens came to tell him that the new babies were being born.
He wanted to see that again, so he left the table to follow the faeries to their garden.
He loved this realm and decided that he was going to spend as much time here as he could.
Just so he could hang out with Morning, too.

Sidney decided to have the other house renovated while he was at it.
It would make a great rental, and he could always use the extra income.
Not that he needed it, but there was no point in the house sitting empty when someone could rent it from him.
The crew that had done his house was going to work on the other house to get it finished.
He loved the house that he was living in with Olivia and Thatcher.
It didn’t take them long to get started on the other house.
He was betting that by the end of the month, he’d have renters in it and they’d be happy with the results.
He thought about selling it after the renovations were finished, but decided against that.
He would really like to have the income coming in, and that was the best way to get it done.
There were other things that he had his hand in this week, and the house was going to be epic.
After reading over the contracts again for his brother, Dyson, he was the fresh eyes on it, he handed it back to him and told him he’d found nothing wrong.
But he was going to go to the office soon and would read it one more time.
Sometimes he would miss something, and he didn’t want to do that to his brothers.
Installing the new computer system in the rec center for the elderly, he was finished up with that in no time.
They had computers in now, but they were running slower.
All he did was tweak things a bit to have them working up to par in no time, and that made them very happy.
A job well done, as far as he was concerned.
After that, he helped Thatcher hook up his computer in his room, and they both celebrated by having a dish of ice cream.
It was close to dinner, but he didn’t care.
He had spent time with the younger man and had had fun.
Now all he had to do was hook up the printer, and he’d be set.
The kid was enrolled in college classes online, and it wouldn’t do to have him not be able to do them because of the computer he was using.
He also had a laptop that he used when he wasn’t working on his homework.
Sidney’s parents had gotten him the laptop for a belated birthday gift, and he was using it while sitting in his bed. The perfect way to work on projects, as far as he was concerned, was to be comfy while doing it. And Thatcher looked about as comfy as he’d ever seen him looking.
After getting things set up in his own office, he went to work on the one in Olivia’s office.
She would do her work from home when she could, but for the most part, she was on the road with his mom and dad.
They were having her scope out projects that they had going on, and Olivia seemed to be enjoying herself while doing it.
He loved that his parents included her in on things they had going.
He didn’t know why, but Grail and his grannie popped into his head then, and he thought about the way that they were both killed.
Amy had saved Fowler’s life when Grail had tried to remove his head.
It was the only way to kill one of them, and it had failed.
Lucky for Fowler, Amy was able to save him by putting his head back on his shoulders.
All but a small flap had been removed, and that was the only thing that had saved him.
What they didn’t know was that Grail’s plan had been to kill off all the dragons of the world except for him, and then he was going to rule the other world.
Little did they know, or just didn’t think that far ahead, that if they killed off all the dragons, there would be no magic left.
If no one believed in magic, then it would fade away until there was nothing left of it.
Grannie, his grandma’s mother, had been funding Grail in getting the things done. They had figured that if they killed Fowler, then they’d all be mourning too much, and that was when they were going to take over. But Amy had saved the day for that as well when she saved Fowler, her mate.
Fowler had ended up killing Grannie when she tried to kill Amy.
He had shifted into his great dragon and bit her head off.
He said that it made him sick for a bit, and he had read all her thoughts before killing her, so he knew that not only had she funded Grail, but her plan all along was to kill her daughter, then her grandchildren, too.
The only way to have made that work was to remove their heads.
He didn’t want to think about a world without his parents or brothers in it. It was just too much.
After getting the computers set up, he was hungry again.
Getting himself a snack of sandwiches that had been left in the refrigerator for them, he decided that he needed to start eating better.
He never knew when he was going to be hungry because he was eating at odd times.
He was going to have to get on a better schedule, or he’d be eating all the time when the family wasn’t hungry.
He decided right then and there that he was going to eat three meals a day with his family and that would be all.
He couldn’t gain any weight, but he would be tired all the time waiting for the next meal to come around.
He wasn’t sleeping all that well either.
He wanted to sleep with Olivia even if they didn’t have sex right now.
He and his dragon wanted to snuggle with her and hold her like they should be doing.
Not that he’d ever rush her into anything, but the struggle was real, and he was missing his mate.
Almost as if he thought of her being in the same room with him, there she stood.
