This Pull
Sienna
Iknock lightly on Jayce’s bedroom door.
I’m ready to leave, as we’re meeting Ahren at ten. I don’t know what he’s found out, but he wanted both of us to come. I tug at the sleeves of my leather jacket; maybe I should have chosen something else to wear.
I’m in a black corset top, a leather jacket, fitted ripped jeans, and black boots with a small heel.
“Come in,” Jayce calls.
I take a slow breath, trying to calm the butterflies in my stomach.
Ever since we completed the marking, it’s been so much more difficult to control how I feel.
Every time I see him, I want to climb him, want to kiss every inch of him, want to suck his dick until he’s a mess and fucks me with raw- Sienna, stop!
My cheeks are now heated as I open the door and try to compose myself, although my thoughts are so filthy.
Opening the door doesn’t help. He’s clearly just showered; he’s shirtless, water trickling down every ridge and groove of his body. My stomach knots, and I swallow, my throat suddenly way too dry. He wipes his face with the towel around his shoulder.
“Won’t we be late?” I ask, my voice breathy.
He arches an eyebrow, looking infuriatingly sexy. “Why would we? I’m just grabbing a shirt, and we’re good to go.”
“Of course,” I reply, looking away. Because you don’t need to put any effort into looking perfect the moment you wake up or step out of the shower. In fact, it just makes you look even sexier.
“Your face is pretty expressive even if I can’t read your thoughts.”
I blink and turn, but luckily, he has his back to me now as he pulls on a white t-shirt and a black jacket.
He sits at the edge of his bed as he pulls on some socks before putting on his boots, and I just stand there watching him.
He’s easy on the eyes, but a real workout on the heart.
“I wanted to talk to you about something,” I begin, needing to change the topic, but it’s not a lie; I did want to talk to him about something.
“Hm.”
I shut the door quietly and turn back to him; he’s glancing up at me now.
“It’s about Katara,” I begin, tugging at the sleeve of my jacket, hoping I’m not overstepping.
“She is dealing with a lot, understandably. I was thinking it would be a good idea for her to talk to someone – like a professional. Mama would be an option. She’s dealt with stuff like this and works with children who have suffered all kinds of trauma.
If, of course, you and your family think that’s a good idea.
I did mention it to her, but I said to her before she talks to Grandma Red, if I could get your consent first.”
He ties the laces of his boot.
My heart pounds, and it’s not because of what I’m asking, but his searing gaze that is fixed on me. I exhale, averting my gaze. Gods, it’s even harder in a tight space.
Outdoors earlier, at least it wasn’t just the two of us.
He stands up and saunters towards me, that effortless swagger that oozes confidence, arrogance and pure power. I step back without thinking, my chest rising and falling heavily.
Yeah, I cannot be in the same room as him and keep my composure. The bond… How could it intensify something that was already so hard to contain?
He rests his forearm against the door above my head, tilting his head. I swallow, my core knotting at just that move, his scent invading my senses.
“You don’t need my consent to try to help Katara.
It’s a good idea. I actually forgot that your mom studied in this field.
She’s helped a lot of kids who have been abused and gone through trauma.
I’ve heard only positive feedback. I think it would do Katara a lot of good,” he says quietly.
I nod slowly, and his eyes flicker blue.
His gaze drops to my chest; for a moment it lingers, and then those dark, dangerous blue eyes are burning into mine. He swallows, his Adam’s apple bobbing, and I lick my lips. “Thanks for looking out for her. I think she really needed that one-on-one with someone who gets her.”
“Thank you… for that. I’ll let Mama know,” I answer softly.
He smells so good…
He nods, and I look away from those piercing eyes, but just when I think he’s going to step back, he leans down, his chest brushing ever so lightly against mine, sending a current through me and my breath hitches, feeling my nipples perk at the caress.
“And you’re doing a really bad job at hiding how fucking turned on you are. I can smell you, Darling,” he murmurs huskily.
Giddiness washes over me. ‘Darling’, it’s been too long…
I should be embarrassed by what he just stated, but I don’t care. I’m not ashamed that he turns me on. I gaze up at him, placing my hand on his abdomen. I push him back, relishing the feel of his delicious abs beneath my fingertips.
“Then don’t get so close,” I whisper before turning and pulling the door open. My heart is hammering as I try to calm down.
Gods, he’ll be the end of me, and I wouldn’t mind it.
He passes me before we reach the stairs, pulling out a key that he spins on his fingers. “Well, I’m going to have to get close because we’re taking my bike.”
Jerk. He should be glad I have my glamour on, or he’d be hard for me, too.
And then he’s down the stairs, those long legs eating up two steps at a time.
Great, his bike, where I’m going to be flush against that delicious back. Not that I’m complaining, but…
“Are you coming?” He’s already at the door.
I nod and hurry down the steps. He holds the door open, and I step outside before he lets it swing shut.
“Thanks.”
We walk quietly to the garage where he wheels his bike out and swings his leg over with ease, before holding the helmet out to me.
“I don’t need a helmet, especially if you’re not wearing one,” I point out, before closing the distance between us and getting on behind him, wrapping my arms around his waist.
This time it’s his turn to stiffen slightly. I smile, resisting the urge to hold him any lower.
He revs the engine, and then we’re zooming down the drive, bringing back memories of our first date. I close my eyes, resting my head against his back.
I have faith in us, despite everything that has happened between us; I am sure we will be ok.
We have to be.
We reach the location Ahren gave us; it’s some kind of club. I don’t like the look of it, and the air is ominous around here.
“Really? He chose this place?” I whisper as Jayce parks his bike.
“Yeah, looks like the kind of place my bike would be stolen,” Jayce mutters, his brows knitted together.
“Not if it’s not noticeable,” I reply, lowering my voice as I whisper a spell under my breath, letting the magic settle over it so it fades from attention. It’s still there, but no one will truly see it unless they’re looking for it.
“Nice,” he says. Our eyes meet before he turns and motions for me to follow.
We walk towards the dingy club, and there’s no one standing outside, so we slip inside. The moment we step through the heavy metal door, it’s clear the bike isn’t the only thing people would steal.
The air is thick with smoke and heat, bodies pressed too closely together. Several women are wearing only jewellery, dancing on the stage. The bass vibrates through the floor and up my spine, but it’s not the noise that gets to me.
It’s the uneasy gazes upon us – or should I say, looking at me, in a way that makes my stomach twist. They may not be touching me, but the way they look at me makes my skin crawl all the same.
One of them doesn’t even bother to look away when I meet his eyes, his smirk leering at me. Someone else brushes past me, standing a little too close, his shoulder grazing mine in a way that definitely isn’t accidental.
This place… I don’t like it.
Jayce steps up behind me, wrapping an arm around me possessively, resting it over my breasts as we make our way through the crowd of leering men. It’s then that I realise there are barely any women here, aside from the strippers on the stage and the ones walking around serving the men.
Ahren is disgusting to come here! Urgh, I am going to sort him out!
Another man comes close, but his gaze flicks to Jayce, and he averts his gaze and walks off. It’s subtle, but I can feel Jayce’s aura enough to send a message.
The looks don’t disappear, but there’s hesitation where there was boldness before, a few of them backing off, realising I’m Jayce’s.
I let out a soft breath, my body relaxing slightly as I lean back into him. The heat of his body offers warmth and protection.
We’re halfway across the room when I feel a hand ghost the side of my ass.
I jerk away just as I feel Jayce’s aura surge; he’s faster, already knocking the pervert’s hand away.
He then grabs him by his collar, shoving him roughly – hard enough that he is thrown into a nearby table, the drinks smashing onto the floor as the men nearby move away.
None are startled, as if it is the norm around here.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Jayce snarls, even though I know he’s controlling his anger. But even then, he screams danger, and the man has figured it out.
“Mate, relax, it was nothing-” the guy starts, raising his hands in surrender, but Jayce doesn’t let him finish.
Striding over to him, he grabs him by his shirt tightly, lifts him clean off the ground, and pins him against the table, making the man groan on impact.
“So much as look at her again, and you won’t live to see another day,” he snarls, his jaw clenched, his eyes burning into the man’s. My heart hammers, realising he’s extremely angry.
“I didn’t mean anything by it. Look, I’m sorry,” the guy tries again, stuttering as he looks around, panicked.
“Then keep your hands to yourself, and get the fuck out of here,” Jayce says coldly. “Because if you stay, I will fucking kill you.”
A tense silence falls, and everyone can tell that the threat was more than just a warning. It was a promise.
The guy nods quickly. “Yeah, yeah, alright. I’m leaving.”
Jayce holds him there for a second longer before finally shoving him to the floor as he lets go.
The guy doesn’t hesitate, scrambling to his feet and disappearing into the crowd.
Jayce stands there for a moment, shoulders tense, breath slightly heavier, like he’s struggling to control himself.
Then he turns back to me, and I instantly move towards him, knowing he needs that. His hand finds my waist, pulling me in close, firmer than before, like he’s making a point now.
“Are you ok?” he asks quietly, but the tension is still there.
I nod, even though my heart is still racing. “Yeah, thanks.”
I want to tell him it’s fine, that it wasn’t a big deal, but something tells me that might just push him off the edge.
He guides me through the crowd; this time everyone keeps their distance. The fear in their eyes as they look at Jayce speaks louder than the silence. No one came to check what was happening or to throw us out, proof that this isn’t the kind of club that follows rules.
We spot Ahren sitting in one of the dingy booths, his arm stretched around the sofa, a small smirk on his face as he watches us.
“I hope you have a fucking good reason for picking this shithole,” Jayce snarls as Ahren stands to give me a hug.
He chuckles. “Trust me, it’s not my scene either.”
“Then why?” I frown. “No one brings their sister to a place like this.”
He sighs, looking serious as he glances between us.
“Yeah, agreed. However, we’re meeting someone here who might just have the information we need. They picked the location, and the information seemed too valuable to decline.”
