Chapter Seven
Silver
I want her more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life before. -Silver
Her lips are even more soft and sweet than I dreamed of. She tastes like honey and temptation, all rolled into one. I hold her body close to mine, feeling every one of her damn curves against my body and reveling in the sensation. Finally.
I give in. That’s the only thought that keeps repeating through my mind. I can’t resist her anymore. Hell, I don’t want to.
My girl kisses me back like she’s starved for me, like she too has been waiting for this moment. She holds nothing back, exploring my mouth with her tongue and holding onto the back of my neck like she never wants to let go.
When we finally break apart, we’re both breathing hard and I’m hard as a rock. Our foreheads meet, leaning against each other. For a moment, the only sound in the room is that of our harsh breathing. In and out. In and out. I try to focus on calming my body.
“I probably shouldn’t have done that,” I say in a quiet voice. I push a stray strand of her blonde hair behind her ear. “It’s not fair to you. I’m not good enough for you. Not nearly. And I’m too damn old.”
I give her sweet lips a small kiss this time, just needing the reassurance of her lips. “I couldn’t stop myself, baby girl. I should have, but I couldn’t.”
She pulls slightly away from me. Her luscious pink lips are puffy as she looks up at me in confusion. She studies me with wide eyes and cocks her head to the side. “You couldn’t resist me?” she asks with wonder in her voice.
“No baby, I couldn’t. I’ve been trying for so damn long, but I give up.
If you don’t want this, if you don’t want me, you should tell me.
Just tell me I’m too old for you. Tell me I’m just a beat-up old man who doesn’t deserve to touch your soft skin or feel your lips against mine.
Tell me that I’m wrong for you. Tell me that I’ve seen too many things and done too damn much to deserve your innocence.
Tell me to go to hell.” I take a long breath and turn away from her.
I fist my hands slowly by my side. I need to give her this chance to reject me.
Her small hand touches my shoulder. “Silver, look at me. Turn and look at me.”
I do. There’s a smile playing on her beautiful lips and her green eyes are sparkling. “I’ve wanted you since the day you rescued me. You’re what I want, Silver. You’re what I’ve always wanted.”
“You don’t know what you’re asking for, sweetheart.
I’m a hard man to know, a hard man to be around sometimes.
I’ve done things, I’ve seen things…” I trail off, thinking of the men I’ve killed, the times when the nightmares haunt me even in the daytime.
She’s so damn precious. She deserves so much better.
She stands on her tiptoes and gives me a soft kiss. “You’re what I want, Silver. I have no doubts.”
I shake my head. “There are things you don’t know. There are things I should tell you.”
She places a finger to my lips. “None of that matters now. Nothing matters except you and me.”
I shove my hand through my hair. “I can’t promise you more than this, Charity.
I can’t promise you marriage and kids. I can’t promise you the picket fence.
I can make love to you, and I can make you feel good.
But I can never promise you all the things you deserve.
There’s not enough of me left to make those promises.
” So many pieces of me are scattered to the wind, ruined by my past. I can only give her a part of me. Is that enough? How could it be?
She reaches for the zipper on the side of her dress and gives me a seductive look from underneath her lashes. “This is enough, Silver. Just being with you is enough.”
She pushes down the zipper slowly, holding eye contact with me the whole time. I can feel myself holding my breath, waiting to see her. Waiting to see that beautiful body bared to me.
Her dress falls to the floor, and I finally feel the air leave my lungs. She’s so fucking perfect.
Her body is exactly as I always pictured it, the curve of wide hips, the soft slope of her stomach, the pretty breasts that I got a glimpse of earlier…
she’s what I dreamed of. She pushes down the black lace panties that cover what’s left of her and I catch sight of the golden curls covering her mound. She’s so innocent, so untouched.
“Please touch me, Silver. Please.”
