Chapter 24
I hate that I had to leave Aaron after promising him we would get time alone. If I didn’t like money, I would have told the client straight up no. I don’t have the time to hack into his rival's business account and download all the emails, contracts, and other shady business they’re doing.
Alas, it was easy money. After a little recon, realizing the business’ CEO was going to be gone, this morning was the perfect opportunity for me to sneak in and get it done.
I also loathe the fact that I had to leave Cea's warm, sexy body in bed. I wanted her to wake up to me this morning. To be able to look into those dark brown eyes and get lost in them for a few minutes. On the bright side, with me being gone, Cea and Aaron can use the day to get to know one another better. I’m praying they can work out their differences and then all three of us can just be one big happy family.
A few more types of the keyboard, and I click enter. ‘Downloaded’ pops up onto the computer screen. I pop the drive out, pocketing it and shutting the computer back down. Everything looks as if no one has been in here. Perfect. I peek out of the office door, making sure the coast is clear. The secretary still isn’t back from whatever the hell she was off doing so I slip out of the room, closing the door behind me.
I’m walking back down the hall in the custodian jumper I stole from the cleaning supplies room. I look down for one second and slam into a body.
“Oh, excuse me,”
the voice says.
I look up and come eye to eye with a man, looking to be around my age. He’s dressed in a charcoal blue suit, a red tie around his neck. What a fucking clown.
“So sorry sir,”
I give him a curt nod, walking around him. I need to get the fuck out of here. “Wait a minute!” the man calls, stopping me in my tracks.
I hesitantly turn around to face him once again. “Yes,”
I ask. “Where’s James? Is he not working today?” Who the fuck is James?
He must see the question on my face because he answers me without me having to ask. “The head custodian. He’s usually the only one who works on this floor.”
Ahh shit. The man eyes me suspiciously. “Actually, are you new? I’ve never seen you here before.”
Uh, yeah. I’m just covering for James today.”
I put my hands in my pockets, attempting to look at ease.
“Hmmm…. weird. I don’t understand why they would let a newbie in this department.”
“Sir, I’m not sure what to tell you. Maybe you should take this up with my bosses,”
I say, gritting my teeth. Who the fuck does this guy think he is. I don’t have time to be answering his bullshit questions. Not waiting for him to answer, I turn around, heading toward the elevator.
I have one foot in the door, when a hand grips me on the shoulder, turning me back around.
I find the same dickhead looking up at me, lines creased in his forehead. I fist my hands at my side so tightly my knuckles turn white. You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
“Now look here. None of this makes sense and I plan on getting to the bottom of it.”
He’s shaking his pointed finger in my face now.
“I’m going to give you one chance to get your finger out of my face and walk to your office,”
I say in a deathly calm tone.
His face grows into an even deeper shade of red and it takes every muscle in my body to refrain from laughing in his face.
“Now you listen here. I don’t know wh–”
His words are cut off by the sound of crunching bone under my fist. Blood gushes, covering his face and my hand. Oops.
A blood-curdling scream erupts, his hands going to his nose to stop the bleeding or maybe to try to stop the pain? Who knows, but it’s obvious this douche canoe has never taken a hit in his life.
I step into the elevator, facing the guy as I push the button for the bottom floor. He glances up at me, his body bent over, blood dripping from his face.
“Toodles,”
I say, waving my fingers at him like I’m giving him spirit fingers. “I did warn you.” I shrug, watching as the elevator doors close in front of me.
Relief floods me when I get to the parking garage where my jeep is parked. I unzip the jumper, ripping it off and stashing it into a trashcan I spot by the exit. I make it to my vehicle, an incoming call coming through as soon as I’m seated in the driver's seat.
“Is it done?”
the voice asks.
“Yes. I’ll have the drive to you ASAP.”
“Perfect,”
the voice says, then the call instantly disconnects.
Straight to the point. My favorite.
“Now let’s get this shit dropped off so I can go see my favorite people. I wonder what they’ve been up to,”
I mumble, pulling out of the parking garage. One more quick stop and I’ll be home sweet home.
Spending the day with Cea was the last thing I had on my agenda.
When Blaze left this morning, I expected to be in a bitch ass mood, hell maybe I would have gone into the shop and taken on some clients to distract my mind.
Life obviously had other plans for me.
I’ll admit seeing the tattoo Blaze marked on her body still extremely upsets me.
All the shit we have been through together and he has never claimed me in such a way, doesn’t make me feel good.
I believed Cea when she said she didn’t know he did it I had to literally show her.
Blaze is a sneaky bastard.
The fresh look on the ink tells me he must have grabbed the kit that I had out last night then he placed everything back like it had never been touched.
A part of me is happy things happened the way they did.
Cea and I finally got over the resentment toward each other and have formed our own connection.
I mean Blaze is definitely going to have hell to pay.
I’m finally going to stand my ground and give him a piece of my mind.
Cea’s head moves on my shoulders from where she's sleeping on me, her face looks so at peace.
She changed into one of my t-shirts, wearing only a pair of black panties underneath.
I ran and got a clean shirt of mine for her to wear before she had the chance to go to the room she’s sleeping in and grab her own. I was ready to risk it all to see her in my clothing.
I gaze down at her body, her tan legs bent on the couch, her body half laying on the side.
Her brown and blonde hair swoops over her shoulder, some falling into her face.
Brushing it back so I can see her beautiful face, I smile.
Every time I look at her, it feels like the air is knocked out of me.
I don’t think I’ll ever get enough.
Her eyes begin to flutter behind her closed eyelids, slowly beginning to open.
She slowly looks up at me, a smile creeping onto her face.
“I’m sorry I fell asleep,”
her soft voice says as she raises up scooting her body closer into me.
“You must have been sleeping good with all the drool you’ve left on me.”
“Do what?”
She panics, leaning off me to check my shoulder, feeling for any sort of wetness.
“I’m kidding,”
I laugh out loud.
“You asshole.”
She giggles, cuddling back into me. “It was a good nap though.”
“I’ll show you an asshole!”
I grab her by the waist, pulling her into my lap, tickling her sides.
Her small hands go for my big ones, trying to catch them and hold them in place. Her laughter spreads around me and a warmth I’ve never felt before lights in my chest.
“Stop it, stop it,”
she giggles again. “I take it back,” she gasps.
I finally relent, moving my hands from her waist to her back, crushing her chest to mine. My mouth, almost touching hers, staring into her eyes, their darkness pulling me in like a tidal wave.
“You have the most beautiful eyes, if I could drown in them I would,”
I whisper.
Her mouth opens just a tiny bit and I latch my lips onto hers. Her tongue instantly mingles with mine, my hands wandering her body, exploring her beautiful curves again because I didn’t get enough earlier.
Her hips begin to grind against me when I hear the front door open.
“Honey, I’m home,”
the deep voice belts, footsteps coming our way, but then completely stops.
We break apart, looking to find Blaze standing there, staring at us. Lips agape, face in complete shock.
“Well looks like someone made up.”
He smirks, but it falters once he sees the anger set on both of our faces.
“Shit,”
he mutters.
“Shit’s right you dickhead!”
Cea growls, hopping off my lap. Here we go.
