Chapter 6
“I’ll have your baby,” Genesis says, walking downstairs the following morning.
Her silky cherry-red pajamas display every single one of her curves, which she has plenty of. Her hair is pulled up in a ponytail, loose strands hanging in front of her eyes. Her large breasts bounce with each step she takes, and I lick my lips.
Dirty thoughts consume my mind as I watch her.
My cock twitches.
I chose Genesis for several reasons.
One, she’s downright fucking gorgeous.
Perfection in my eyes.
The other?
She’s my best option.
My parents loved her for a reason. They didn’t allow many people into our lives, let alone my sister’s. She spent more time at my parents’ home than she did her own.
She’s also always looked at me in a way no one else did. It was like she wanted me to open every door into my world for her and invite her in.
“Smart girl,” I comment, breaking myself from my thoughts when she reaches me.
She plops down on the island stool and blows out a breath. “But I have a few conditions.”
I chug my protein drink and set it to the side. “Hit me.”
“You purchase a home for me in my name and only my name.” Her voice is all business, and it’s fucking hot. “I refuse to be stuck in the same situation that my father just left me in. I want what’s mine to be mine.”
I backtrack a few steps to lean against the cabinets, crossing my arms. “Someone sure has turned demanding, given her situation.” I start counting on my fingers. “Homeless. Carless. Penniless.”
She levels her palms on the island. “I’m not penniless , asshole.”
“You’re right. I’m sure you have some change in your wallet.”
“ Moving on .” She scowls at me. “I want a job to earn a paycheck.”
“A job where?” I ask this more mockingly than I should.
“The casino, unless you know of anyone else hiring.”
“I’ll pay you for your services.” I smirk, making a show of traveling my eyes down her face to her neck and stopping at her breasts.
Glaring, she pulls her pajama top up to nearly her chin. “I can deal cards?—”
“Fuck no. No way am I having you on the casino floor.” I scrub a hand over my face. “How about this? I’ll give you a weekly paycheck while we sort this contract out. Then, we’ll find you a position at the casino.”
It’s all a lie.
She’ll never work at the casino, period.
She leans back on her stool. “You also can’t stop me from volunteering.”
I knew this would be a problem. “The shelter isn’t safe for you.”
“I’ve worked and been safe there for over a decade.”
“Before, you didn’t have a Russian who wanted to marry you or a pregnancy agreement with me. All of that makes you less safe, so someone needs to watch you. I can’t have my men folding blankets and serving food when I need them elsewhere.”
She groans, throwing her head back. “Please tell me you’re not going to bodyguard me up like your brother did with Pippa.”
Pippa is Damien’s wife, and she’s not allowed to go anywhere alone. She and Genesis became friends after Damien asked Genesis to take Pippa out for a spa day before their first date.
Someone is always watching Pippa. For a while, it was my job, which I fucking hated. That ended when I opened the casino.
I hadn’t been made to play bodyguard to a woman I wasn’t fucking.
I had been made to run an empire, to make money, and to get rid of those who got in my way.
I just need one more thing—a child to leave everything to.
“You want to volunteer, I’m bodyguarding you up,” I say, hoping that’ll change her mind.
Genesis is used to doing whatever she wants.
She needs to know that when she signs my contract, her life will change.
As will mine.
