43. You’re Safe

YOU’RE SAFE

SEAN

M y face remained stoic as one of Cillian’s men drove the car full of armed men. We were going to the location to meet the loan sharks who had kidnapped Chelsea and threatened to hurt her.

It’s my fault.

I should have followed her to the parking lot. I knew how unsafe the area she lived in was. I hadn’t thought that they would come to kidnap her if they didn’t get her father. I was too arrogant, thinking they’d never be able to hurt her if I was with her.

Marie, her mom, was safe, but in a panicked state. She had told me they both had a fight and then two men in masks kidnapped Chelsea. She scratched one of the men, but they easily pushed her off, driving away in a dark SUV.

I was going to kill them. They had stolen what was mine, and I would make them pay for it.

“Don’t act too rash,” Cillian’s voice rumbled through my earpiece. He was in another car with the FBI so they could arrest everyone running the illegal operations.

“I’m a lawyer,” I replied to him. “I will act within my duties.”

I knew they wouldn’t torture her, but the thought of strangers even touching my Princess made my blood boil. I should have kept her tied up in my penthouse so that she would never leave me and never get hurt.

The car rolled to a stop at some distance and I focused on controlling my breathing while the armed forces got ready to attack the abandoned school.

The factory that we had located previously was emptied that morning.

They knew the police would catch them, and that’s why they had changed their plans.

Chelsea’s family wasn’t the only family they had targeted. Hundreds of families were in debt because of them, and I was going to make them pay every single cent until they wished I had killed them instead.

Just a few minutes, Princess.

Daddy is here to save you.

I would definitely get punched if I said that to her, but she’d still kiss me with an angry pout afterwards.

Chelsea

My limbs were aching when the drug started wearing off. I woke up in an empty dark room with my wrists and ankles tied in a thick rope. My head was bursting with a headache, and it was hard to breathe.

The floor felt cold and murky. My body felt heavy when I tried to squirm. I swallowed, hoping my mom was safe.

Holding my hands up, I tried to remove the cloth gag covering my mouth, but it had a tight knot.

A door creaked open and my eyes squinted at the sliver of light. Two men walked over to me. My back planted against the cold wall. I wished I could crawl away from them.

“You’re finally awake, huh ,” one of them said. “Let’s hope your boyfriend pays well for the effort.”

I swallowed as they inched closer. I tried to scream when they held my arms, dragging me up, but it was muffled. I wanted to writhe away, but that only made their hold tighten. They took me into a big space with high ceilings that had chipped paint and dirty floors. It smelled like crap.

But there were more people there. Large, burly men eyed me from up to down, making my skin crawl. I felt naked in jeans and a tee-shirt.

“Let’s have a taste before he comes,” one of them cackled, walking towards me. My heart raced. I struggled to move away. I would bite his hand off if he dared to touch me.

Before he could reach me, a door slammed open and someone walked in. Thank God .

My eyes tracked their movement. Polished shoes, ironed pants, crisp shirt, and thin glasses. I froze, feeling my heart drop.

Sean smiled at my kidnapers with eyes crinkling in the corners.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I yelled, but the stupid cloth made my words muffled, and the sound that came out was gibberish.

His grin widened seeing me. Idiot! He plopped down on a wooden chair he had brought with him as two men stood guard behind him. They were also the kidnappers.

Don’t tell me he came alone. Was that his plan?

“Lovely to see you’re alive, darling,” he said and looked down at the thick files he had brought with him. “Now, you called me here to pay for my dear girlfriend?—”

“What the fuck is he talking about?”

I nodded, agreeing with the kidnapper. There were fifty men in here and he came alone to save me?

Sean glared at the man who had interrupted him. “Please allow me to complete my sentence.”

The man even mumbled a sorry. What the fuck is going on? I kept my eyes on the man who was supposed to guard me and looked down at the knot tied over my wrists. It was loosening as Sean kept talking about random clauses and dropping piles of papers after papers on the floor, dust flying everywhere.

Since everyone had their attention on him, his charm and effortless yapping consuming them, I almost got out of the ropes.

Sean dropped the final set of papers and said, “In conclusion, this is illegal and you need to pay fifty-six million dollars to the parties affected.”

That is his fucking plan?

Make them pay everyone back because it was illegal?

Some of the men started laughing, and I pulled off the ropes when something dropped in the middle of the hall. It was shaped like a ball.

I stared at Sean, seeing him put his glasses away in a side pocket. He stood up from the chair to fight off the two men who were standing behind him.

Everything fell into chaos. Adrenaline pumped in my veins.

I jumped, seeing the little ball hiss and release smoke in the air.

Sean ran towards me as men in dark uniforms entered the hall through every single door with guns in their hands.

Some even broke the windows and jumped inside, making my pulse jump.

Sean was beside me in seconds, untying the knot on my feet and helping me up. “I’m so sorry, Princess,” he whispered, covering me as gunshots were fired. He covered my ears and pulled me closer.

I held onto him, too scared to let him go, as tears burned in my eyes. “Is my mom okay?” I asked when he led me out of the hall and into another dark hallway. It seemed empty besides the two of us.

“Marie and Noah are safe. Don’t worry.” He paused and looked around, holding my shoulders and checking me everywhere. “Are you hurt? Did they hit you? Touch you?”

“T-they didn’t.” I shook my head. “They just wanted money.”

His eyes hardened when he looked at the light bruise on my arms from where they had held me too tight. He pulled me closer and said, “I’m never leaving you alone now.”

“ Okay ,” I breathed out, glad to see him safe and unharmed. “I don’t wanna be alone.”

“Let’s get out of here,” he said and tapped something in his ear and said, “Target secured. Leaving from gate three.”

I stared at his focused face and the thin sheet of sweat. I had seen him fight those two men who had more muscles than him. It was so hot how he had used his swift punches and kicks before running to me.

He had done all that to save me.

My stomach felt warm when his hand wrapped around my shoulder and pulled me closer.

“Daddy,” I whispered.

He glanced at me before making sure the path was safe. “Yes?”

I licked my lips and said, “I’m going to give you the sloppiest blow job of your entire life when we get back home.”

Sean paused, his pupils dilating as the pink hue climbed over his neck and cheeks. “Don’t get me hard now, Princess,” he said with a small smile.

I returned that smile.

Soon. We will get home soon.

I saw a broken door and knew we were leaving from there. He opened it, “You go first.”

I was about to step out on the dusty ground into the evening night when a gunshot fired through the air. I gasped when Sean’s body slammed into me, covering me as we both fell out of the old building.

“Good,” he said, his arms covering me. “ Good . You’re safe.”

“ Sean! ” I called out when other men in uniform rushed to us. I scrambled out of his hold and looked back to see a man being pinned down on the ground.

“ Sean ,” I said, my hands shaking. My bottom lip quivered when I saw the blood on his shirt. “No, no, no.”
