30. Callie
Callie
“I could watch you come a million times and never get bored. Fuck, Callie, you’re impossible to look at and not want so desperately it hurts.
” Ben didn’t shift away, didn’t pull his hand from my panties, didn’t look embarrassed or regretful of what we’d just done.
“Would it be manipulative to ask you out after making you orgasm?”
I laughed and pressed my forehead to his shoulder. “I don’t know. Would it be hypocritical of me to say I can’t date a parent after you just made me come?”
“Yes. And you should really work on yourself.” Ben’s smile was open and happy, so damn happy that it lightened whatever darkness had been hiding in me after the day I’d had.
I could hear the kids playing still and knew we’d have to leave our little hideaway soon but I was greedy.
I didn’t want to move until we had to. Especially not when I could feel his erection still pressing into my thigh.
I bit my lip and trailed my hand down to caress it through his jeans. “I could work on you instead.”
A low groan slipped past his lips as he pressed his hips forward. “Don’t let me get in your way.”
My mouth watered as I thought about dropping to my knees and taking him into my mouth.
I could still hear the sounds he’d made when I’d sucked him deep before, the rough sounds of a man close to shattering beside a lake in the middle of the night.
I pressed a kiss to his chest and looked up at him through my lashes.
“This is completely inappropriate and I’ve never wanted to do anything more. ”
His eyes burned when I slid off my perch and sank down to my knees in front of him. His jaw muscles worked and his hands fisted at his sides. “Fucking hell, Callie.”
I pressed my cheek to his thigh and let him watch me breathe against the outline of his tip.
I flicked my tongue over the stretched denim and was rewarded with a muffled groan and two big hands in my hair.
He tried to keep his touch light but even stroking my hair, his hands shook with barely contained strength and desire.
One more light flick of my tongue and those hands tightened once, twice, before releasing my hair again.
I ran my hands up his thighs and gripped the top of his jeans, letting my knuckles brush against his hard stomach and the line of hair trailing down from his navel. “You can hold me harder, Ben. I won’t break.”
His fingers immediately tangled in my hair and tugged my head back so he could see my whole face. “I might if you don’t stop fucking with me.”
A smirk played at the corners of my lips and a dark thought came into my head like a poorly aimed bullet, ricocheting around until my brain was a wreck with only that thought left behind. “Make me.”
Those two words landed between us and the energy shifted to consume them.
Make me. Said in a breathy voice by a woman on her knees with a dare in her eyes.
I did and didn’t know what I was asking for.
I didn’t care. I wanted to break the man standing over me with the giant hands and the shake in them from holding himself in check. I wanted to-
“What are you kids doing in here without supervision?!”
I would’ve fallen on my ass if Ben wasn’t there to catch me and yank me to my feet. That was Darren’s voice in the auditorium, raised and angry and aimed at our children.
Before I could run out and save them from his wrath Ben grabbed my hips and forced me still so he could button my pants. He ran a shaky hand over his face and spoke with gravel in his voice. “I can’t go out there like this. I’ll think of taxes or something and be right there.”
I glanced down at the graphic display that his erection made and licked my lips. I didn’t trust myself to speak so I just nodded and hurried out to the stage. “Principal Darren. The kids aren’t alone. They were just waiting on us.”
Darren looked at me on the stage and I had to fight the urge to check to see if my clothes were on correctly. My face burned but I did my best to look as normal as possible.
Darren crossed his arms and frowned at me. “They shouldn’t be left unattended in this room. Donors paid a lot of money to make this space as nice as it is. We don’t need your kid ruining it.”
The energy shifted as Ben stepped onto the stage behind me.
He didn’t touch me as he walked past me but the air shifted around him in a way that felt like a caress.
He jumped down from the stage like he was an agile athlete, landing in his boots with a sound that felt almost like a threat.
I hurried to the stairs because the only way I was getting down as fast as Ben had was if I fell off.
“Principal Darren.” Ben’s tone was low and just shy of hostile. “I made a sizeable donation when the school board was pushing for this room. I made it with the idea of children playing in it. What part of them playing in here would ruin the space?”
I swallowed so audibly that Oliver turned to me. I tried my best to beg him to ignore it but subtlety had never been his thing.
“Mom? That was loud. Audible swallowing can mean-”
“You can tell me about that in the car, Oliver. We were finishing up here anyway. How about we call it a night and go home to eat dinner?” I moved closer to him and rested my hand on his shoulder.
The look he gave me was pure frustration. Once he started a thought, he needed to finish it. “It can mean dry mouth, emotional tension, heightened awareness, or emotional restraint.”
I cleared my throat and looked at a spot over Darren’s shoulder. “Well, it’s time for us to get home.”
Thankfully, it didn’t seem like Darren was paying attention to Oliver. He was staring at Ben with barely contained anger. “One donation doesn’t make this your personal playground.”
One glance at Ben told me that he was starting to wonder if jail would be worth it.
I stepped slightly forward, positioning myself between them without making it super obvious.
“Ben was working on the set. He’s been doing volunteer work for the school.
I remember when Mrs. Carter was in charge of the play last year, the set design was outsourced to someone who the school had to pay.
So, beyond the donation, Ben is working for free.
We would be lucky to have more parents like him, don’t you think? ”
I could already hear the lecture I’d get the next time I faced Darren alone but I had a limit with the man.
It seemed I could take his bullying and creepy behavior when it was aimed at me but when it turned on other people in front of me, I couldn’t just watch it happen.
Maybe there was some hope for me after all.
“Just clear out. It doesn’t look appropriate for a teacher to be alone with a parent like this.” Darren stormed out before Ben could release whatever response I could feel rumbling through his chest.
Beth let out a dramatic sigh and put her hands on her hips. “Jeez. That guy needs to take a chill pill.”
I hid my laugh behind my hand while Ben squatted in front of the kids and growled. “Next time, I say we turn into bears and really scare him out of here.”
Beth’s giggles were contagious, even to Oliver. I could see him fighting the laugh, wanting to correct Ben and tell him that they couldn’t turn into animals, but stopping and smiling instead. My heart cracked open a bit more and I knew I was in trouble.
