Epilogue 1 #4
“Blair, this is Saoirse, my wife, and Saoirse, this is Blair, the mother of my son. My own troublemaker.”
“You are beautiful.” I couldn’t help but compliment in awe. She was definitely out of his league.
“Thank you. You are more magnificent than I imagined. Marcello has said so many wonderful things about you, and Ollie is an absolute gem. I am so honored to be a part of his life if you allow me?” She gently asked in consideration.
“Sao-iree!” Ollie said with glee as he waved at her.
“Hi baby,” she replied.
The way they just interacted…
He opened up to her, and she accepted.
The care and kindness in her eyes was something I could recognize as my own.
Had she been anyone else, I’d have disapproved and started a fight, but she crumbled my defenses because we shared one thing we refused to lose. Our love for Ollie.
“Oh my, of course! As long as you love him as your own—”
Her face brightened with tenderness and excitement. “I do. I really do. He is the best thing to happen to me in a long time, and I just would love it if you would give me your blessing to be like a second mother to him.”
“Where did you find her? Don’t tell me you kidnapped her.” I joked with a playful smile as they exchanged a brief, tense look.
Oh shit.
Sighing because I was two seconds from punching him in the fucking face and breaking his nose. “Please tell me you didn’t force her, porque yo te mato!”
She raised her hands, shaking them as she came forward and put her hand on my shoulders, her gentle gaze keeping me steady.
“He saved me, if anything. I wouldn’t be here if he hadn’t done what he had to.
” She looked back at him, and his gaze softened like a knight crumbling at the knees of his princess.
Perplexed and lost at this cause, I uttered, “What?”
“It’s a long story, Blair. Just know I fixed it.” Marcello dryly added.
“Do I even want to know how you fixed it?” I questioned him.
“Nope.” He emphasized the p.
“I’m still going to know the truth.”
He couldn’t keep anything a secret from me for too long.
He stared at me and I stared back as Saoirse’s cheerful light laughter broke our contest. She was like a rare gem found in the roughest and darkest of places.
Truly the best thing I could have asked for.
“In all seriousness, I’m happy for you two. You deserve to be with someone who makes you happy and that loves our son as much as we do. And although you don’t need it, I gladly accept and bless you guys.”
“We could only wish for the same, Blair. We both came a long way; if it were not for him, I don’t know how this would have happened.”
I gazed back over my shoulder, and I can’t even imagine what would have happened if I had stayed back at the convent.
“So you’re okay with this whole co-parenting?” Carefully I mentioned the dilemma, if it wasn’t more obvious.
He glanced at Kon, then me, scratching his chin as Saoirse playfully pulled his arm, and he made a sigh of defeat, or rather acceptance. “Yes, although we’ll get into specifics later about who gets him when and where he’ll live, but as long as he is happy and safe, that is all that matters.”
“I’m fine with that as long as I get to see my baby,” Glee paced in my words as I began tickling Ollie around his stomach.
“Well, you wouldn’t want to have too much fun without your …” Marcello pointed at Kon.
“Oh damn,” I muttered as I wondered how to bring the baby to him.
“I got him for now.” He assured me as I passed him over.
“Don’t disappear.”
“Me, never.”
“I was talking to the baby.”
“Oh, okay, I knew that.” Marcello played it off, eying his wife, who clearly saw through the facade.
I shook my head again, threading my fingers through my loose hair as I strolled back over to Kon. Waiting to kiss, hug, and do all unspeakable things to him.
Disbelief is still new in my system as I smile at him. “I can’t believe you made this happen.”
“Is it everything you wished for?” He slid his hand into mine like regaining his home as we began walking away towards the foundation.
“That and more, so much more, baby.”
“I’m glad you’re happy.”
“You make me happy.”
And it was my sole truth.
Out of so much despair, he came like a spirit in the night and made me feel alive again.
“I promised you that I was going to make you happy, and I meant it.”
He suddenly removed his hand from mine and then bent down on one knee, retrieving something—a black velvet box from his jacket—he opened it, revealing a gorgeous two-stone ruby and diamond ring.
“Because I don’t want to live a life without you.
Before you, my existence was meaningless; now you’re my single reason for purpose.
There are many things in life, I’m sure of, and I never know how or why, but one thing I am sure about is the universe designed you for me and I refuse to live another day without recognizing who you are to me. ”
One small gasp escaped my lips.
He couldn’t be serious? Could he?
“All this to say, will you marry me, Blair Morgan? Will you take me as your husband?” Konstantin proposed with rough sentiment.
Butterflies busting at the seams, as I'd never imagined this moment.
“Are you serious?” I blinked, trying to comprehend everything that was happening so fast.
He swallowed like the words were too difficult to get out. “I never wanted anything— anyone— more. And I make this vow before you to protect and love you and Ollie until my last dying breath. So marry me. Marry me and be my everything.”
And although the journey wasn’t easy, I’d rather take this life than a mundane one locked away from them. My family. My son. Konstantin. “Yes, baby, yes!” I yelled with excitement.
He slipped the ring on my finger. His eyes radiating like all the diamonds in the sky. Just beautiful. Heartstopping. And mine forever.
He leaned down, cupping my face, crashing his lips into mine, tilting my head as he deepened the kiss, kissing me like it was the first and the last time he ever would.
He pulled away, breathless, pressing his forehead to mine. “You’re mine to keep now, Mrs. Volkov.”
“And you’re mine, Mr. Volkov.”
“Don’t forget me!” Ollie exclaimed, running over as he jumped out of his dad’s arm and came at my pant leg.
“Never.” Konstantin picked him up with one hand and placed him in between us. Ollie's little arms wrapped around both our napes as I held onto him, gazing up with love and devotion to these two for the rest of my life.
“Until the end of the world.”
“Until forever.” I recited, smiling so big.
And our vows, along with our bodies, burned in eternity. Forever with our hearts being one.
