Chapter 29

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

WREN

“See…” Eily swishes her hand toward the others, mixing pina coladas at the poolside bar. “Told you, once they got their rocks off, they’d relax.”

She reclines on a giant pink penis pool float. I’m riding an eggplant emoji float beside her.

The sunset flames up the sky while Sire and Silas stand closely in a deep conversation. Is it about us? About them?

I sense a reserved vibe toward Axel and Nash, but at least they’re being offered drinks, and Cade is talking to them.

Our worlds are too interconnected for us to be rivals. In fact, we share common enemies, so we should work together.

While some of us?

Maybe we should do more than work together.

I watch, fascinated, as Daniel kisses his wife, Charlie, then he kisses Redix, making him laugh about something.

I blurt, “I’m sorry, but I’m dying to ask if—”

“If we all fuck each other?” Eily trails her fingertips over the water. “The answer is yes. But even more? We love each other, too. Though Silas is possessive over me right now.” She whispers, “We just found out I’m pregnant.”

“Congratulations!”

“Thanks,” she beams. “It took me and Silas a while, and I almost gave up hope, but now we’re busy drawing up house plans, picking nursery paint, and bathroom tile. Charlie, Daniel, Cade, and Redix are moving to our island. We’ll each have a house and raise our kids together.”

“So, you share a lot more than sex.”

With pride, she nods. “Way more. There’s a lot of love, history, and commitment, too.”

I purse my lips, trying on a filter for size. It doesn’t sound like The Six are open to other… Lovers? Is that what they’re called?

I don’t know their world, but I feel its warmth. Its depth.

Maybe my impression was wrong. And I won’t blurt something that messes up Sire’s friendship with Silas because I have a case of the curious kinks.

“So, usually, we’re a closed polycule,” Eily whispers.

Why is she whispering?

“We’re only open to others for Halloween and holidays,” she shares.

I nod, imagining their world, realizing ours is similar, yet not.

The kings and queens are open for initiations and tests. It’s our bond. We’ll need it to survive. Otherwise, each couple is different.

I can’t imagine Nash or Axel will ever share their women. Only for initiations. Only if they get to punch their brothers afterward.

Loch has fulfilled his duty as a second king to Delphine. Now, he said he’s vowed to Alena—no one else. And Alena doesn’t need to be initiated. She’s the daughter of a king and part of the family.

Jace? He breaks my heart. He’s like one of Dolly’s sad country songs. He will always love someone, but who is she? I sense he’s lonely without her.

Nick and Zar apparently serve a Dom and his wife. Sire said there’s a whole hot story there.

While Delphine told me that Grant’s okay with her being with other women at Nadine’s club. Often, Delphine shares him. After she was bought and sold in a French brothel, Delphine insists on her freedom, and I’ve never heard Grant complain.

But me and Sire?

What will we be?

Always together, yes. But what about…

“Buuttt,” Eily coos. “This is Redix and Cade’s birthday weekend, and Silas has always found our pastor to be very hot and…”

With her big, jade eyes, she pauses, searching mine.

I blurt, “And?”

“And,” she laughs, “we don’t want to make it weird and freak anyone out.”

If she only knew.

“You can’t freak me out. I’ve been through hell and back. Nothing shocks me.”

“Shocks? I believe you. But shook?” She drifts closer. “How shook would you be if I told you that Redix, Daniel, and Silas want your husband tonight?”

No one should be allowed to feel this excited.

And horny.

I wink. “I wouldn’t be shook; I’d be right. I knew it.”

“Really?” Eily’s cute face lights up. “They want the breeding kink. Let’s be clear.”

“It’s crystal clear,” I chuckle. “And I want it for Sire. But what about you? What do you want?”

Eily lowers her brows. “Honestly? So many times, I feared Silas and I would burst into flames in Pastor Rutledge’s church because, my dear Lord, look at the man. God ate and left no crumbs with him.”

I just made a best friend for life.

I went from having no one to having so many people, so much love. I want to pinch myself.

“Let me be clear.” I smile. “My husband wants to share his crumbs with the men. But with women? No, he’s all mine. And unprotected sex? Never. He likes the breeding power and role-play, but not the risk.”

Eily nods, impressed. “I get it. We all have boundaries. Like, I’m not open right now. I don’t feel like it. Hell, I might barf any second. But I want Silas to have fun. He’s always had a thing for Pastor Rutledge.”

Heat blooms between my wet thighs. “And I have a fantasy…”

“Which is?”

I feel like I can tell Eily anything. “I’m a hypocrite, I know. I’m too jealous to share my husband with women, but I want to share a man with him. I want to share Silas with him. Not fuck him. Just, you know—”

“I know.” Eily reaches for my hand. “You were a virgin with Pastor Rutledge … I mean, with Sire … weren’t you?”

“How can you tell?”

“Takes one to know one. Silas was my first, too—my first, my soulmate, my always. We’ve shared a lot.

Me and him. Us and our partners. I’ve lived and loved a lot, and you deserve it, too.

” She squeezes my hand. “Have Silas tonight. I trust him. He knows our boundaries.” Eily turns her generous gaze toward Axel and Nash. “Are they with Sire, too?”

I roll my lips over my teeth, fighting not to laugh. “Uh… no. Axel and Nash aren’t bi.”

They’re his brothers.

“Are you with them?” she asks. “Because damn, they’re a whole meal, you lucky bitch. You four seem very close.”

Am I very close with them?

I think of Axel swinging me around. Nash, being protective. Jace is so friendly. Grant’s always so funny. Nick is sweet. And Loch? He treats me like his equal.

“Yeah,” I answer with warmth. “We’re getting close.”

“Like… close close?”

I bite my lip. “We’re still exploring that.” It’s the truth.

Do I adore my future kings? With all my heart.

Do I trust them? With my life.

Do I want to fuck them? Well…

Nannie used to say the patriarchy shames a woman’s desire, and it’s on purpose. Because your desire is your power. She said you have to know what you want, to know what you won’t tolerate.

What I love is how Sire knows what I want, and he doesn’t shame me. He just wants me to go slow. He doesn’t want me to get hurt. That’s why we’re waiting for my initiation.

Until then?

I edge my float up to Eily’s, asking, “So, how do we do this? This will be our first time, uh… you know…”

I trail off, and Eily winks. “Girl, I got ya. If I can plan six sinful nights for New Year’s and a hot and horny weekend for seventeen for Halloween, then—”

“Seventeen!” I whisper my shout.

“Yes.” She nods, impressed with herself, and she should be. “They call me the pornified party planner.”

I laugh so hard, I almost fall off my float.

“Babygirl!” Silas shouts to Eily. “What are y’all laughing about?”

“Nothing.” Eily twirls on her penis float, calling out, “Wren and I are just breeding plans for the night.”
