“Is there still tension between you and Hale? I remember sensing something was off last time we spoke.”
“Nope,” he says easily. “We’re perfect. Better than we’ve ever been.”
“Really?” she presses, looking for a story. “Hale looked pretty shaken when he left the convention area the other day. You’re telling me that everything was fixed in just a few days?”
Aksel’s smile widens a fraction, practiced and bright. His eyes gleam under the bright lights. “As I said, everything is great. We’re focused on getting through the finale and excited about what comes next.”
