Epilogue

Felicity, now the Duchess of Swan, was in bed reading the next volume of her favorite serial when Harrison burst through the door. He was carrying a tattered letter. She smiled. “Has your mother sent you something amusing?”

A deep, rich chuckle escaped him. “No. This isn’t from my mother.”

He joined her on the bed as she placed her story in her lap. Her husband grinned at her, and she frowned at him, wondering what he was up to.

“This is a letter from Collin.” Her eyes widened. He added, “It is the one he wrote me before he passed away about giving you control of his estate.”

“I told you he wanted that.”

Harrison rolled his eyes. “Read it.”

She couldn’t believe it had taken so long to arrive.

Felicity took the letter and unfolded it.

A surge of comfort and sadness filled her to see her previous husband’s handwriting once again.

It was a warm, thoughtful note apologizing for past misdeeds.

She glanced at Harrison, happy he’d received it.

He pointed at a paragraph. “Keep reading.”

Felicity glanced down and continued.

My final request is that you please look after Felicity and the children when they arrive in England.

My wife reminds me so much of you. I suspect the two of you will enjoy each other’s company.

Perhaps the medicine they have me on has made me see myself as a bit of a matchmaker.

Still, if I’m right, I ask that the two of you find your happiness.

And if I’m wrong, then make sure she doesn’t end up with some bloody boring person.

She giggled at Collin’s last sentence, a smirk stretching across her face. “And you were so worried about having a relationship with your best friend’s widow.”

“Only briefly,” he said.

Harrison pulled her to him. Desire and love spiked in Felicity as she arranged herself in a straddling position on top of her husband.

He stared up at her, intensity and happiness swirling in his eyes. “I love you so much.”

“I love you, our life, the children, and this little one on the way,” she said, patting her stomach.

Harrison’s eyes grew wide. “You are with child?”

Felicity nodded. She’d been waiting for the right moment to tell him. “I am.”

He sat up and pressed a searing kiss to her lips. A laugh escaped her at his dramatics. Her new life that started during the hottest summer in London had turned out far better than Felicity could have ever anticipated.
