Chapter 27 - Aiden

T he next morning, Aiden pulled Olivia against him, and they took advantage of their rested and rejuvenated bodies.

While the physicality of their time together was a huge plus, Aiden wanted to make sure Olivia felt their connection was deeper than purely physical. When the weekend was over, he hoped he could convince Olivia to put up with the long-distance drive between them until they could figure out something else. What that solution might be, he didn’t know yet, but he wasn’t ready to give up. Things between them were amazing and getting better with every hour they spent together.

Eventually, they were too hungry and in need of caffeine to lounge in bed any longer. They untangled their limbs and ventured into the mid-morning warmth.

“Let's go,” he said, pulling on her hand to get her out of bed.

“Where are we going?”

“There's a coffee shop and a farmers market just around the corner.”

They grabbed pour-over coffees to go, and he showed her around his neighborhood. He brought her to a farmers market a few blocks away, as promised. It was twice the size of Gresham's, and the produce was gorgeous. Olivia helped him pick some veggies to cook omelets back at his place, and they sauntered home.

The day continued at its unhurried pace as they lazed around at his apartment. It was as if a metronome was beating a lazy tempo to ensure they savored every moment. Aiden basked in their smitten feelings, knowing he had the annoying self-satisfied air of a man who had coupled up with someone a little out of his league. Their fingers and limbs naturally found each other, regardless of their location or activity.

At some point, Aiden turned on the TV to an afternoon Twins game, and Olivia fell asleep with her head in his lap as he played with her hair. In a word, the day was perfect.
