Chapter One

Diego

She was the most beautiful thing I had seen all night. I didn’t often play at the club but when I saw her I couldn’t seem to look away.

“You okay man?”

“Ah, yeah,” I said, turning back to my old friend Beckett Haynes.

“She is something though isn’t she?”

“Who?”

“Ana. That’s her name, the one over there you can’t stop looking at.”

“Ana? That’s pretty.”

“Do you want to meet her?”

“I think I just might.” I said, pushing myself off the bar and in the direction of the gorgeous vixen who caught my eye.

“Watch out Diego! She bites!”

Ana’s gaze rose just in time to throw him the finger and raise her other hand to greet me.

“Ana Jamison.”

“Diego Torres.” I said as I extended my hand to meet hers.

“Pleasure to meet you Mr. Torres. Is that what you like to be called?”

“I prefer, sir.”

“I see.”

“But only if that’s something you’re into?”

She smiled and I wondered what the fuck possessed me to be so forward with a woman I just met. Sure, we were at The Pendulum, a Kink and BDSM club in New York City but that wasn’t who I was.

“Are you always so forward, sir?”

The way she said sir in the end was almost mockingly. If she were my submissive I wouldn’t stand for that type of behavior. I chuckled at her attempt to push me and that’s when I realized she may not even be here alone.

“Are you here with a partner tonight?”

“Are you asking me to play?”

“Not yet. I’m just trying to make sure I don’t get my ass kicked.”

“Fighting, unless consensual,” she said with a wink, “isn’t allowed here at The Pendulum.”

“Are you reciting the code of conduct to me?”

“Maybe I am.”

I reached up as if I were going to caress the side of her face but moved just in time to avoid her skin and push back a piece of her hair. Another very forward move toward someone that is supposed to be a stranger to me. She stepped back and raised her eyebrows in my direction. I crossed a line and she was making that very clear.

“Do you know why I find that so amusing, pretty girl?” she shook her head and I smiled.”Because I wrote the Code of Conduct for this club. That man over there, Beckett Haynes, is one of my oldest friends. When he said he needed an attorney to help with some paperwork I agreed. You couldn’t imagine my surprise when he told me that the work was for the Pendulum.”

“So you weren’t kinky before that?” she said under her breath as she took a step forward and reached for my tie.

“I didn’t say that now, did I?”

Her head dipped and her teeth sunk into my neck. The burning sensation ran through my body as I closed my eyes and gave into the pain.

“Beckett wasn’t lying was he?” I asked breathlessly, “You really do bite.”

“Only when people ask nicely.”

I took a step back, realizing once again we were off track. There shouldn’t be any biting yet, but I also shouldn’t have reached for her the way I did. I stepped back and nodded to her before walking in the direction of the private rooms. I slipped my hand in my pocket and pulled out a key. This little piece of plastic and my thumbprint where the only things between me and a night that would blow my fucking mind.

I crossed the threshold and pulled away my tie, and vest. I unbuttoned my shirt and rolled up my sleeves before making my way to the toys that were laid out for me. The Pendulum catered to a very special kind of clientele. The elite of New York City, both old money and new, knew exactly what went on here. I was just lucky enough to have done some work for a friend of mine which in turn not only paid me a handsome rate but also guaranteed full membership access to his club. I met Ana the third week the club was open. Much in the same way we had played the first part of our scene tonight. The only difference was, Ana would have never bitten me the first night we met.

After I confirmed that everything I wanted was pulled from my personal collection and set up here, I slipped off my shoes and took a seat in the chair that was across from the door.

There was a small knock, almost soundless at first. The night she came to find me it was the same. She thought she would be interrupting me with a partner but Beckett sent her to come get me. He knew what he was doing, sending her to a nearly empty playroom with me and a bed in it. He was a good friend and had just recently met his partner. After my divorce I insisted I never wanted another woman in my life but Beckett claimed it was easy to have a partner you didn’t love. By starting a dynamic with someone you could have compassion, company and love, but it was different then being in a romantic relationship. I’d say he was right but that only applied when you didn’t fall in love with your submissive.

“Come in.”

The door creaked open and she held up one hand with Beckett’s ID and the other was covering her eyes. “I’m sorry for the interruption Mr. Torres but Mr. Haynes has requested your company in the lobby.”

“Ana, look at me when you speak to me.”

She pulled her hand down and the corner of her mouth turned up in a smirk. “As I said, I apologize for the interruption, sir.”

“You’re not interrupting anything. In fact, I was waiting for Beckett. Seems a little strange he had me wait here but sent you instead.”

“Maybe not that strange. He’s aware I’m looking for a partner. Someone who doesn’t mind a little teeth in the game.”

“I have no problem with teeth.”

“Very well then, Shall we talk?”

“Now who’s being forward?” I asked, motioning her over to the desk.

I watched as she lowered herself into the chair and then I moved forward taking my seat on the other side. I reached into the drawer where I knew I would find a yes/no/maybe list and pulled it out with two pens.

“Here, this might be a good place to start.”

I handed her the piece of paper and she gave me a wink, “What if I don’t know what all of these things are?”

“Just ask, I’d be happy to help.”

She hid her smile and began filling out her form. I did the same. By the time I got to the end I was desperately trying to remember what I filled out that first night. There were a few things I remembered clearly because they never changed but then there were other things that I was less open to then versus now.
