Christmas carols fill the air as the scent of turkey and pumpkin wafts from the kitchen. The restored farmhouse at Blossom Grove Orchard is decked out with so many holiday decorations it looks like Santa’s workshop exploded. A fire crackling in the hearth only adds to the ambiance.
The warmth that runs through me has nothing to do with the fire though and everything to do with the curvy redhead laughing with her friends.
She is the best Christmas present ever, and the most unexpected.
I know we have a lot to figure out, but knowing I’ll do it with her by my side will make it all worthwhile.
With the storm gone, the power came back on and the roads were cleared. We got Everlee’s car out of the ditch and parked in the driveway of the ranch, where it has sat ever since. Kayla and Austin made it home from their honeymoon just in time to join us at Blossom Grove for Christmas.
To say they were surprised to find Everlee with me at the ranch would be an understatement.
They were a bit skeptical about our relationship, but they quickly saw how happy she makes me and how I dote on her.
They’re happy I’ve found someone, especially since it means I’m no longer the third wheel in their relationship.
Even though Everlee is staying with me, she still wanted to spend Christmas with Becca and Anya, her other friend she was meeting. So we decided to spend the day together. Along with Kayla and Austin, Keaton, Becca’s man, and Thane, Anya’s new man, are also here.
Apparently, Anya ended up at Thane’s during the storm, and their story isn’t all that different from mine and Everlee’s. Crazy how things worked out.
The women are chattering away, catching up, while us guys drink beer pretending to watch the game on TV but in reality we’ve only got eyes for the women across the room. I’d bet money that not one of us could tell you who’s playing.
The women finally take pity on us, putting us out of our misery when they come over to snuggle. We turn the TV to A Christmas Story, and we spend the rest of the day laughing and stuffing ourselves with food.
When Everlee starts yawning, we head home, and man if it isn’t the best feeling in the world going home with my woman. I can’t imagine a more perfect Christmas.
