Chapter 11

As much as I didn’t want to let Milani out of my sight, I knew she had other people who missed her just as much as I did. There were also new additions to the Harris family that she hadn’t met yet. I walked Milani out of the warehouse and pecked her lips.

“As soon as I’m done here, I’ll swing by to pick you up,” I informed her.

“Okay. I love you. I’ll see you later,” Milani cupped my chin and kissed me again.

“I love you too,” I bubbled before helping her into Mitchel’s truck.

I watched the truck disappear down the road while the sun set and felt Terrel place his hands on my shoulders. “Ahhhh, she got you soft as fuck, bro. I love you, smooch smooch smooch,” he teased like the annoying little big cousin he was. I mushed his face away before his lips could touch my face.

“Stop playing so much,” I groaned.

“I love this for you, Sneaux. Happiness looks good on you. Are you really going to ask her to marry you?” My father asked as Levi tried to help him into his truck.

“Boy, I can get in the damn truck on my own. Watch out,” my father barked on him, jerking his good shoulder away.

“Alright, old man. Go ‘head and tumble out that bitch. See don’t we leave you on the ground until your wife can come get you,” Terrel shouted across the parking lot. “I never thought I’d see the day where you let a woman get one up on you. Milani got you bandaged and bruised.”

“Shut the fuck up nigga. It was dark in there, and my back was turned!” My father groaned and took a seat in the truck.

“Ummm hmmm, sounds like you’re getting soft, old man,” Terrel waved him off.

“Alright, lil nigga. Come over here and let me show you soft.”

Terrel waved him off.

“That’s what the fuck I thought. Sneaux, back to you and the proposal.”

“I’m going to ask Milani as soon as she is settled in. I don’t want to rush her into anything,” I replied.

“Shut yo ass up. We all know Milani will marry you tomorrow. We can see it all over y’all,” Terrel pointed out.

“Fuck that. Are you really going to step aside just because Milani is back?” Levi pried.

“If need be. Milani’s early twenties were stolen from her, but I’m going to make sure she still has every opportunity she missed out on. What? Y’all scared y’all can’t do this without me?”

“Fuck no,” Levi refuted as the sound of an approaching vehicle garnered our attention.

“That’s Juno,” Levi announced.

“I’m going to get out of here. Sierra has been blowing up my phone since the doctor called her with care instructions.”

“Be safe old man. Try not to get any new injuries,” Terrel waved at him.

I walked over to hug my father, and Levi closed his door.

We headed back inside, and Terrel lifted one of the warehouse dock doors, allowing the truck to back up on a ramp that led into the warehouse.

When Juno’s truck came to a halt, the trunk door lifted, and Henry Walker’s bound and gagged body was lying in there.

He was dressed in a pair of tailored khaki colored slacks, black Stacy Adams, and a black and brown button up shirt.

Looks were definitely deceiving because we almost let this geeky motha fucka slide right by.

Never thought he would’ve been the one taking a shot at me in a parking lot.

A folded wheelchair lay on top of him in the trunk, tumbling out when Henry twisted his body in the cramped space.

Henry’s eyes doubled in size when he saw me staring back at him.

The dock door slid back down, and Juno pulled Henry out of the trunk by the collar of his shirt and drug him to the middle of the floor.

“Cameron, open her door!” Levi commanded.

“So are we really going to let him go with her after what happened?” Terrel question.

“That’s the plan if she’s still willing to give us insight on her father’s business.

There are gaps to fill now that they are gone, and we could always take on some new soldiers.

With the head of their organization gone, there are a bunch of free agents, and she’s the only person who could help us weed out anybody untrustworthy,” I explained.

“Plus I’m not worried about Steve Urkel spinning the block.

Deja and her man can go to Detroit and stay the fuck out of our way.

But they are dead if they cross that Florida line. ”

Terrel nodded as Cameron drug Deja’s chair to the middle of the floor. She was writhing in her seat, the metal of the chair clanking against the handcuffs.

“No! Let him go!” Deja shouted the moment Cameron pulled the strip of duct tape off her mouth.

“Chill the fuck out,” Levi ordered, kicking Henry in the stomach. He emitted a muffled groan, curling up into a ball. Levi walked around Henry and placed his foot on top of his left shin. Henry groaned in more pain, squirming on the ground.

“Sneaux says you can go if you map out your father’s organization for us. We want to know the names of anybody who has undying loyalty to your father and may want to exact revenge upon his demise. And think before you speak because y’all lives depend on it,” Levi stated.

“Well, I would assume the drivers would be the closest to them. Everybody else is fair game in my opinion. My father is constantly angry because the solid men choose up for a family with more money, rank, and pull. They are only as loyal as the dollar in their faces. That’s exactly how I was able to sneak around with Henry for the past five years,” Deja detailed, then huffed loudly. “Now get off of him!”

“One more thing. Who else on your father’s team has expertise in document forgery? With Antonio and AC gone, that lane is wide open,” I inquired, searching Deja for any sign of remorse or anger at the mention of her father and brother’s death.

Although Deja claimed she didn’t give a fuck about what happened to them, she was still their blood. Without missing a beat, Deja replied.

“My father refused to teach anyone the trade besides AC. However, I tricked AC into teaching me. So if you killed my father and AC, then you killed the only other experts on his payroll.”

“Nah, we still got you,” Levi smiled, lifting his gun before pulling the trigger, sending a bullet through Henry’s head. His eyes never left Deja as he murdered her boyfriend.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Deja screamed, crocodile tears streaming down her bruised face.

“What the fuck? I thought we weren’t killing him?” Terrel remarked. “The clean up crew was already mad as fuck about cleaning up two bodies without laying down a tarp. Now you’re giving them a third?”

Levi shrugged his shoulders.

“Please don’t hurt me! Pleaseeeeee! I have a daughter.” Deja pleaded, her face softening with fear.

“Oh, now you’re not so tough. What, your balls shriveled up?” Levi questioned.

His words made Deja’s mouth slam shut mid plea.

After taking a deep breath, Deja shook her head from side to side like she was putting on another persona right before our eyes.

Deja’s bruised face hardened into a scowl before she opened her mouth to speak.

“You’re right. I shouldn’t be begging a piece of shit like you to spare me.

I wish I would give you the satisfaction.

Your big gun probably makes up for your little dick.

That’s why you always look so angry all of the time, huh?

That’s why you haven’t found a wife yet?

All that money and power, but the little dick scaring the bitches off?

” Deja taunted, her voice void of the previous despair.

The sound of Levi’s zipper coming undone filled the silent room, and I quickly turned away. “Dick big enough to match this ego, sweetheart,” Levi retorted. “Yeah, close your fucking mouth. You only wish you could suck it.”

“Just fucking kill me nigga!” Deja raged.

“No. I have better plans for you, Deja,” Levi announced, zipping his slacks back up. “I’m glad you brought up my need for a wife in a few years. You can fill that position.”

“WHAT? No the fuck I’m not!” Deja protested.

“You are if you want to leave this warehouse to see your daughter again,” Levi threatened.

“Besides, we can both get something out of the deal. I get a wife, and you get protection from your father’s enemies.

There’s a reason Antonio relocated to Florida with that small ass army looking for a fresh start.

We just never gave a fuck to figure it out.

But I never come up empty when I start looking into shit.

You see how quickly I figured out what Urkel was up to. ”

Deja swallowed hard and took a deep breath. “What do you think the Harrises will say about this? My daughter is their blood.”

“Your daughter is blood. You’re not,” Levi clarified.

“This sneaky nigga done swooped in and took thick shit from me,” Terrel whispered, making me laugh.

“Like you said, you only wanted to fuck her, but Levi is about to wife her. You snooze, you lose.”

“Fucking pitiful. Money, power, and a big dick, yet you still have to blackmail a bitch into marrying you! There’s a reason you can’t get a bitch to love you,” Deja continued talking shit.

“Well, killing the doctor wasn’t a part of my plans. I’m going home. Levi, you fix everybody else’s mess, so I’m sure you can figure this out,” I announced, walking towards the exit.

“Yeah, I’m out too. The clean up crew can bitch you out for the third untarped body of the night,” Terrel informed him.
