Chapter 17 Iris #2

“Iris, please don’t tell me you've watched me,” Beau said warily.

“Hey, guys, what can I get you to drink?” The waitress interrupted, thankfully.

We ordered our drinks and our food since we all knew what we wanted.

“You want to talk about what's bothering you, Beau?” I asked when she left.

“Why are you all dusty?” He looked us up and down, changing the subject.

“We got caught in the storm,” Nash said.

“We weren’t expecting it so soon and we thought we would have time.

I left Mrs. Robbins’ horses out in the pen to graze while we did some chores and unfortunately that backfired.

When no one was there, the wind kicked up and knocked the gate out.

It was a fucking mess. Iris had to save the day and retrieve the horses. ”

“You guys were out in that?” he said, pointing outside.

“Yeah, it was a mess,” I said, wanting to dust off enough of the dirt I thought I had patted off, but it seemed I had done an awful job.

“Jesus, that’s scary. For a moment you could barely see across the street.” Beau looked more awake. “Is everything ok now?”

“Yeah, they will fix the barn and gate when the storm passes, but we have all the animals safe in the barn, even if it’s a little windy,” Nash said.

“I’m glad you guys are ok,” Beau said, grabbing my hand.

“Yeah, we are good,” I said, squeezing his hand. “At the ranch, we watch out for each other. Nash went out and helped me with the horse and brought something for me to cover my face, since I left quickly.”

Beau looked between Nash and me. “So, I take it things are good between you guys?”

“Tolerable,” I grimaced.

Nash rolled his eyes. “Things are fine.”

Beau nodded, looking uncomfortable.

“Ok, what the hell is wrong with you?” I asked, getting worried.

“Tell her,” Nash said.

Beau glared at Nash who was smirking.

“What happened?” I asked, feeling the tension.

“I hate you,” Beau snapped at Nash.

“There is no reason to feel guilty,” Nash said.

That’s when it clicked. Something happened between them. Oh lord, what did they do and why wasn’t I present to watch?

“Would it make you feel better if I had something to tell you?” I said, grabbing his hand.

Beau looked at me with wide eyes.

“That night—”

“Nash told me,” he said quickly.

“What the fuck, Nash?” I glared at him.

He shrugged.

“Ok, so you know about that, then tell me what happened,” I said, narrowing my eyes at Beau.

“You should have an inkling of what happened,” he stated.

“I mean I have a lot of scenarios in my head, you would just be confirming one of them. “

“How are you ok with it?” He looked at me in disbelief.

I looked between Nash and Beau wondering the same thing. It feels right? Natural?

“I don’t know,” I shrugged. “I mean, he watched you pleasing me and maybe if I wasn’t so angry, I would have told him to get on his knees too.”

Beau looked between Nash and I, shaking his head. “I can’t believe you two.”

“I would have definitely gotten on my knees,” Nash smirked.

“This isn’t a normal marriage.” I whispered the last word. “I think normal matrimony rules haven’t really applied to us, but I think it's safe to say we both like you.”

“You’ve been there for us.” Nash added. “We’ve always had some kind of chemistry.

“I feel you are trying to convince me of something,” Beau said, as our waitress came to drop off our drinks.

Nash looked at me in a silent question of, ‘Are we?’. Since Nash had inserted the image into my head last time we were together, I couldn’t say that I wasn’t a little curious of what it would be like to be with Nash and Beau together.

I bit my lip, trying to decide what to say because it looked like Nash would be on board with it. If I had to guess, he was the one who pursued Beau.

“Are you trying to pick me up?” Beau asked.

The absurdity of his comment made me laugh.

I didn’t know if that’s what we were doing, but I guess we were?

God, this was embarrassing. I laughed even more because my life was getting more and more complicated, and I didn’t know what else to do.

Nash joined in my laughter until Beau cracked a smile doing the same.

“I don’t know what we are doing,” I said, wiping my eyes. “Whatever is happening feels right. Or am I the only one who feels it?”

“I like the way it feels,” Nash said, looking at Beau.

“Oh no, don’t place this on me,” he said, as his face grew red.

“No one is placing anything on you,” I said. “If you don’t like this, then just say no. I liked being watched and I—”

The server came with our food, stopping the conversation.

Giving Beau a break, I dug into my food, eating it quickly because once I started, it was like I couldn’t get enough.

Nash was the same way, and I wondered if he had skipped lunch like I had.

Beau seemed to eat at a very slow pace, watching Nash and me.

I finished my meal before everyone looked outside, seeing the wind had died significantly.

“So, whose house are we going to?” Beau said.

My head turned around so fast and my stomach clenched in arousal. Was this really happening?
