Chapter 13

THIRTEEN

“What the fuck is wrong with you?”

Kenzo asks, shuffling through the deck of cards. Aiden and Elias are sitting here too, waiting for Kenzo to spread out the cards. His eyes bore into mine as he lifted a brow.

“I don’t know what you mean.”

“What I mean is,” he drawls out. “Is that you called us here for what? A game of poker? This cabin’s not big enough for two people; we’re barely squeezing in together, Soren. What the hell’s up with you?”

“Shut up and deal.”

Kenzo rolls his eyes, then deals the cards to all of us. A harmless game of poker is just what I need to get my mind off that bitch. She’s God knows where, doing God knows what. It’s none of my business where she is, but I can’t help but continue to plot against her.

I’m still facing the consequences of that damned sex tape. School-wise, the community service isn’t too bad. However, once the Christmas season comes, I’ll have to go home and face the wrath of my parents for embarrassing them.

Of course, the Sloane family took advantage of this situation in the biggest way possible. A lot of our longtime clients have switched to their side, because a scandal like this isn’t something anyone would want to be involved with.

As far as Ellie goes, I don’t think she’ll ever work in this field again.

My mother will see that she never sees the inside of another classroom, whether it be a terrible public high school, or an academy of sorts.

Not that it’s any of my business. She was the one who approached me; she knew what the consequences would be if we got caught.

It’s Sophia that’s bothering me.

I want to strangle that bitch until she drops dead.

Why the fuck did I do that? Why did I fucking jerk off using her thighs?

It’s as if the devil himself has possessed me that night.

I’ve never denied Sophia’s beauty — she’s fucking gorgeous, but until that night, I’ve never even thought of what it would be to fuck her.

Yet, ever since she revealed that she’s still a virgin, my cock’s been nonstop hard for her. I’ve been like a hormonal teenager, jerking off twice a day, whenever the image of my cum on her pussy pops into my mind — which is far more often than what I’d like.

The mere thought of anyone else getting to fuck her is rattling my mind. Especially when I keep seeing that bastard Damien pop up. Sure, they’ve always been good friends, but they were not always this close. Why is the motherfucker everywhere?

He’s constantly showing up at the camp with gifts and gifts for her. And Sophia’s always giggling, laughing, and touching his shoulder. Why the hell is she doing that? And why does it bother me to this degree?

If anyone is going to ruin her, it will be me. If anyone is going to break apart every single thing about her, it will be me.

“Soren,” Kenzo’s voice snaps me out of my train of thought. “Your turn.”

I sigh, then drop the cards altogether on the table.

The focus is nonexistent, and my mind’s been consumed by Sophia Marie Sloane.

She’s a walking cliche — a spoiled, pampered, rich girl, always having those stupid-looking bows in her hair, and at least one thing of her outfit has to be in the hottest shade of pink she could possibly find.

Alternatively, she’ll opt for baby blue or light pink. Otherwise, it’s all grey, black, and beige shades. I don’t think she’s ever worn anything green, or even yellow. God forbids she wears something that’s not a neutral shade or blazing pink.

“I need a fucking drink,” I push the chair back, then stroll toward the kitchenette. Kenzo brought a few bottles of whiskey, and I help myself, pouring a glass, then pulling out a pack of cigarettes, lighting one, and taking a deep inhale of the nicotine.

“How long will you be here?” Aiden’s voice reaches my ears, and I turn to look at me.

“Two days.”

“That’s perfect, because—”

Kenzo’s words get cut off when the door of the cabin swings open. Sophia strolls inside, her heels clicking against the wooden floor. She makes it two steps inside, then she spots everyone. A frown etches on her face, and my jaw clenches at the sight of her.

She came here to do community service, yet she’s getting all dressed up. High heels, a dress that’s too tight on her. It looks as though the seams will open up if she moves too suddenly.

It hugs her waist perfectly, falling down to her ankles. It’s in a deep shade of grey, almost black. Long sleeves, with a belt around her waist, making it look smaller. Fucking hell, this woman looks good, and she knows it.

“Why did you stop?” A voice comes from behind her, and it’s soon revealed to be Grace. Her eyes flick between all of us, a scowl appearing on her face when she sees Aiden and Kenzo. I don’t know what her deal is with them, and I don’t care to find out. “Oh, that’s why.”

“What are you all doing here?” Sophia’s voice breaks through the tension. Her eyes are slightly narrowed, and she moves further into the cabin, putting her handbag on the hanger.

“We dropped by. Is that an issue?” Kenzo asks.

“Yes,” Grace responds before Sophia gets the chance to. “Now, leave.”

“No, it’s alright,” Sophia gives her a pointed look, which Grace seems to understand.

These two are planning and plotting something. I’m not sure what it is, but it definitely has something to do with the revenge Sophia has thought for me. There’s no way she’ll let go of the fact that I sent Sinners and Saints that little snippet of what went down in Colton’s office.

After what seems an eternity of the two just staring at each other, Grace turns around with a bright, wide smile. It’s as fake as one could get. “Alright. Whatcha all drinking?”

“Whiskey,” Aiden responds, not looking at her. “You can help yourself.”

Grace strolls into the small kitchenette, shrugging off her coat. She picks out between the options, skimming through the few bottles carefully. She lifts a bottle of Macallan for Sophia to see, and the girl nods in response.

Sophia turns to look at me, and her expression is blank. Her eyes are slightly narrowed at me, and something that resembles a frown is on her face. She makes no attempts to approach me, or to speak to me.

Good, because I might lose my shit and snap at her if she did.

Elias leans back, and anyone can tell he’s having the time of his life. His eyes are drifting between Sophia and me, then between Grace and Kenzo. A wide grin tugs on the corners of his lips, and he clears his throat.

“So, what about playing a little game?”

“No,” Sophia and Grace yell out in unison, though Kenzo doesn’t seem enthusiastic about games, either.

“Must I remind you, we’re not in high school?” Kenzo fixes his glasses, looking exasperated. Meanwhile, Aiden looks uninterested, his jaw clenched tightly.

“What? It’s not like you’re too old to play strip poker,” Elias huffs, clearly pissed that he’s not getting his way.

Images of Sophia getting undressed flash behind my eyes, and the mere thought of any of these people getting a peek of what’s beneath her clothes is enough to irritate me. However, before I can respond and shut it down altogether, Grace’s voice echoes in the room.

“Oh, why not? Prepare the cards. Soph, come help me with the drinks.”

This is fucking weird. Sophia and Grace are talking with their eyes, then Sophia walks over, and the two engage in a hushed conversation, their backs to the rest of us.

Something’s telling me this night will be a disaster.
