Chapter 11

Chapter Eleven

Dylan

Vera blinked. Then laughed so hard tears formed in her eyes. “Mike’s not gay, but thanks for the laugh.”

I was still holding firmly onto Mike’s waist, glaring at the woman who’d dared to show up and think Mike would just drop everything and take her back. No chance. Mike was mine.

When neither of us joined in on the laughter she sobered, staring wide-eyed at Mike. “Is this true? You’re gay, or bi? Or whatever you might label as.”

I figured Mike felt conflicted on what his labels were. Hell, he’d yet to actually tell me he liked me. I just knew because of the whole anchor thing. I decided to help him out, giving him the chance to feel less in the spotlight.

“We don’t care much for labels here; all you need to know is that we’re very happy and in love. And Vera?”

She blinked, “Um, yes?”

“Mike is mine and only mine, you get that?” Now, normally I wouldn’t be so possessive or snippy, but Vera had done so much damage to my wonderful Mike, I couldn’t help myself. I finally had a chance to see her face as she realized Mike would never ever belong to her again.

“Is this true, Mike?” she asked, ignoring me completely. The audacity!

Mike nodded, “It is.”

Relief like no other swept through me. I’d feared Mike might’ve wanted her back and I would’ve looked like a fool. To hear him dismiss her… Fuck I wanted to kiss him right here.

Vera stood, her anger evident as she sneered at us and left our apartment, not even giving Mike a last goodbye before the door banged shut behind her.

Was she embarrassed? Had she felt rejected?

I just hoped she’d learned her lesson. A wonderful man like Mike wouldn’t always be there waiting for another chance.

She should’ve treated him better and never let him go.

Her loss. Still, I had to apologize to Mike.

My own jealousy had taken over. He’d likely have preferred me not steamrolling over him like that.

Still holding his waist, I turned my head, “I’m so—”

Mike’s warm lips met mine and I whimpered.

My arms tightened around him, daring him to move away.

His kiss was forceful at first, like he couldn’t control himself.

Then it turned almost shy and was now back to a demanding sort of ferocity.

The changes in the kiss had me weak in the knees.

How could a kiss with one person be so different?

And yet I’d loved every second of it. All the ways Mike kissed were filled with so much emotion and want.

I grabbed onto his hair, pulled his head back and devoured his mouth. Moaning, we both fell into the kiss. The uncertainty was gone now. Fully gone. Mike was living for this kiss. His touch on my body was frantic and needy. It was a freaking rush, feeling this wanted.

His hands travelled down to my pants, rubbing my ass and I groaned, both from the pleasure and the realization that it would take a damn battle to get out of these pants!

All I wanted was for both of us to be naked and rubbing against each other until we’d both come our brains out.

Had I known these pants were this irresistible, I would’ve worn them sooner, dammit!

Two knocks sounded on the door, making both of us groan with annoyance. If Vera was back, I was siccing Erik on her.

I walked—rather awkwardly, I might add—toward the door, my tight pants truly uncomfortable with my dick hard and ready to party.

My dick died down as soon as I looked through the peep hole—yes, I’d learned my mistake from before—and found Linda on the other side.

“It’s your mom,” I declared, then opened the door with a bright smile, simply because Linda was like a mother to me, too. She deserved to be welcomed with happiness and not our sour moods.

Her face lit up as she spotted us. “My boys!” Mike was hugged tight as mother and son finally reunited after two years.

They broke apart, Linda’s eyes a little glassy as she looked her son over.

Suddenly, I found myself engulfed in a familiar hug before she stepped back and eyed me with a smirk.

“You doing roleplay now, Dyl? Let me guess, you’re a…

. rock musician, just without the tattoos and eyeliner?

” Thank fuck she’d continued that sentence.

“Good guess, but I’m actually just trying to tempt Mike,” I stated proudly, making Mike choke on air next to me.

She laughed, looking over us like only a worried mother could, then leaned in and whispered loudly, “Did it work?”

“Mom!” Mike gasped.

Linda just laughed harder and walked into the apartment. “I’m just teasing,” she said, sitting down and eyeing our waffles with evident hunger.

“Please eat, but they’re cold now,” I warned.

She grabbed one and dipped it in the chocolate sauce from my plate, then with her hand covering her stuffed mouth asked, “So, I actually came to congratulate you on your bonding. I would’ve come by sooner but Rino told me firmly not to and he’s often right about these things.

Even if my motherly instincts had me cursing the man mentally.

I lasted until this morning, but then I had to see you. ”

“Bonding?” Mike asked, looking at me with confusion.

“Well, yeah,” Linda said, taking another bite. “With Dylan being your anchor, you bonded.”

Mike’s eyes went wide. “Anchor?!”

Linda stopped eating, her mouth smeared with chocolate as her eyes widened. “Oh, you haven’t been told yet?”

“I was getting to that part,” I grumbled. “The poor guy only woke up a little over an hour ago and what you’re eating is his breakfast.”

She seemed sheepish as she wiped her hands on a napkin. “Sorry boys. I thought Mike would’ve been told by now. And you can’t blame a mother for wanting to see her child after he practically got married,” she sniffed, but it was obvious she felt guilty for her interruption.

“Married?” Mike breathed, looking a little faint.

“Oh dear,” I sighed. “Mike, sweetheart,” I began, holding on to his beautiful face. “I’m so damn proud to be your anchor.”

“You’re not mad at me?” His eyes were fearful and so very vulnerable.

“No,” I said, shaking my head with a smile. “I’m extremely happy.”

Mike’s expression turned from fearful into the most breathtakingly beaming smile. “Then, I am too.” That was a huge relief! I’d feared it would take longer to convince him that I honestly wanted this.

“Oh, my boys,” Linda whispered from the couch, wiping her eyes. “I never once thought the two of you would get together, but I’m so happy you did.”

“So is Erik,” Mike laughed.

“The pants worked!” I announced to Erik, scanning the room like I could actually find him.

I felt so damned pleased that I’d bought the pants on a whim, back when I’d helped Pete figure out how to be a sub.

It sounded way dirtier than it had been and I’d mostly bought the pants because I’d wanted them. Sue me! They looked hot, okay?!

We all laughed, and I could tell Linda sensed she needed to get her butt out of here. From what I’d heard from Jackson she tended to show up at the worst moments. She stood with a sheepish look on her face. “I also came to grab Dylan.”

Say what now? “Me?” Just what horrors were she planning?

Linda nodded. “You two need to relax for the next few days. So we need to go shopping. I was told by Rino that you needed to recharge and relax. Dylan, we’ve got to get moving.”

“Shopping?” Mike and I asked at the same time.

She’d better not be talking about lube and condoms. There was only so much I could take before blushing.

“Yes, and we have to be quick because you can’t be away from one another for long. Mike will need to stay here so he doesn’t get drained. But you.” She pointed her manicured finger at me. “Get a shirt on and let’s go.”

Not even ten minutes later, I was wearing a hoodie and a pout as Linda drove me away from my sweetheart.

“Stop pouting!” she exclaimed with a sigh. “I’m doing this to help you two.”

“If you truly wanted to help, couldn’t you just have bought the things we absolutely need for bonding without me having to leave Mike?”

“So, I might’ve lied a little…”

I gasped. “Is this a kidnapping? Am I not good enough for your son, and now you’re taking matters into your own hands? Am I being discarded?!”

She just shook her head. “Calm down with your dramatics.” She was smiling now. “I saw Vera yesterday and needed to ask you a few questions.”

“Oh. We saw her this morning. Could’ve done without it to be honest. I’m surprised you didn’t see her. She left only seconds before you arrived.”

“I thankfully didn’t,” she sighed. “Vera seemed very determined to get Mike back and it took ages before I managed to get her to leave. She was very intent on her wish to speak with Mike.”

“She did, and then she left with the knowledge that Mike is all mine and I’m not sharing him.” I had my arms crossed, still in a pouty mood. I could be at home right now, wiggling out of these pants with Mike’s help. Things would’ve gotten so hot and amazing!

“Good, then I need to tell you about being an anchor.”

We were parked in front of the biggest grocery store in town and I already feared this would take hours. I did not enjoy shopping.

“Mike will need almost constant touch while you bond,” Linda started.

“Done.”

“He’ll need to sleep next to you every night.”

I grinned, “Done.”

“He needs to hold your hand whenever you go out, mostly just until he gets control over his energy.”

“Done.”

“Perfect, now let’s shop for all the good stuff so you don’t need to leave the apartment,” she declared, already jumping out of her car.

“This could’ve been a single text, you know?” I knew I was pouting again, but I couldn’t help it.

Linda rolled her eyes at me. “Sue a mother for wanting to make sure her son truly is in good hands. I was ecstatic, you know? When Rino called me and explained what had happened, I felt so damn relieved that it was you.”

“Don’t think buttering me up will help your case here, Mom,” I sniped, but Linda knew I was just teasing.

“Aww, you called me Mom,” she swooned.

This time I was the one rolling my eyes.

“What did your moms say when you told them?” she asked just as we stepped inside the store.

“Haven’t told them yet.”

Linda stopped walking. “Why the hell not?”

“Because they’re on their yearly romantic getaway and this year, they’re in huts with questionable WIFI. So, I figured I would wait to tell them about Mike and I being bonded and how I was now working for the mediums and all that.”

“I need to find myself a partner. I want yearly getaways too.” Linda was the one pouting this time, but I knew she was happily single.

She’d once said that dating as a medium was hard.

Sometimes they had ghosts attached to them and she would learn all their horrible secrets.

Other times she couldn’t deal with lying about her job.

Most mediums preferred to feel secure in their relationship before telling their partner they could see and speak to ghosts and I understood why.

I just smiled at her and let her lead the way. I had a man to get back to.
