Chapter 15

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

NOVA

“I thought you were the badass one, or maybe second would be Belle, considering her father was a mob boss,” Maggie whispers from the doorway.

I open my eyes and stare at them all huddled in the doorway. “I can hear you. I fell off a bike, I didn’t go deaf,” I state.

Star’s lips twitch, fighting back a smile as they all pile into my room. “So, why did you do it?” Josie asks.

I sit up and wince a little, the grazes on my body still stinging. I reach for my glass of water and take a sip. “Honestly, I don’t know,” I answer bluntly. “I think I just, I just had enough of a man or men controlling my life. I snapped,” I rant. “I mean, it’s insane that I can’t choose who I want to sleep with. Like, why is that such an issue for Ghost?”

Star frowns and Dixie, Maggie, Josie, and Belle all exchange a look. “You slept with Spider?” Star asks.

I nod. “Look, before you go all judgy, because of what happened the night before, that it isn’t right, blah, blah, blah. It just happened. We were being chased by Dean, and I swear my heart was pumping so hard, I thought it was about to burst through my chest. He helped calm me, then the mood just shifted, and it was like...” I pause, thinking.

“It was like?” Maggie urges.

“It was like he was the only thing I wanted, the only thing I could think about. Nothing else. Not where we were or even who we were. It was an uncontrollable desire,” I sigh, my cheeks heating from the memories.

Star smiles. “So, how was it?” she asks.

I smile back. “Animalistic.” They all collectively make an ‘oooh’ sound. I laugh. “It wasn’t long, and it certainly wasn’t romantic. It was desperation. Just all out animalistic desperation.”

“Damn.” Belle sighs. “I mean, I could believe it.”

We all look at her. “Oh yeah, when he fucked that bunny in front of you,” Star adds.

I look to Belle. “He fucked a bunny in front of you?” I press.

She nods. “Well, I walked into the bar area. Long story short, I was looking for Beast. He was there fucking this girl, saw me, and enjoyed me watching him.”

“Woah,” I mutter. “He fucked a bunny outside my bedroom door and waited for me to open the door and watch them,” I confess.

“Yeah, I had heard,” Star adds. “See, why can’t he just give you a compliment like ‘you have nice hair’ or flex his muscles or some shit. He didn’t need to give you a show and tell of his fucking skills.” Star tuts, shaking her head. I laugh. “Listen, I’m not defending Ghost, because he’s my sexy half, but they have rules, and even outside of these walls, in normal society it isn’t exactly great to be fucking your best mate’s sister, is it? Plus, the bond him and Acid have is like family. Just be grateful Ghost ain’t your brother, because Spider would be fucking dead by now. I get the impression that Acid is a little more understanding,” Star says.

“I don’t know. I mean, look at Blake with Cash. That was a rival club, and Blake isn’t even a Satan’s Outlaw. I think that when Acid gets back, you should just sit down with him and gage his response,” Maggie suggests. “But I will add, secret sex when it’s forbidden is fucking hot.” She winks.

They all laugh. “Yeah well, I’m not looking to go there with Spider. It was just a reaction to the chase. Nothing more than that,” I state.

“Just saying, we’ve all been in those situations. Spider has been there and none of us fucked him. So, while you want it to be down to the adrenaline, I think it’s more the fact you are both so attracted to each other, you just got shit at fighting it.” Star shrugs.

I shake my head, refusing to listen to her reasoning. I’m deciding that it was 100 percent down to the adrenaline, and nothing more. I let out a fake yawn to drop the hint for them to leave me alone.

“Alright, we get the hint. We will leave you alone. But don’t blame us if we start betting when you and Spider will next fuck,” she says, giving me a wink as she leaves.

I sigh and lay back down after they’ve all gone. Closing my eyes, I feel myself begin to drift off to sleep, but I wake when I hear my door opening. I groan and huff, sitting up.

“What now? You going to predict the day we will fuck?” I ask, rubbing my eyes.

“I mean, I could, but after the assault on my nuts, I don’t think I’m ready for any fucking,” Spider jokes.

My eyes spring open. “Oh my god, I thought you were Star,” I say, covering my mouth.

He smirks, his arms crossed over his broad chest, his body leaning casually against the wall. My eyes lazily sweep over him. “Sweetheart, you looking at me like that is exactly the reason I ended up with painful balls.”

“Sorry,” I mutter. “Um, why are you here?” I ask.

“Came to see that you’re okay. Star said you were still in pain,” he states.

I shake my head, smiling. “I’m fine. It’s just a graze. I’m a little sore.” I pause. “Look, I’m sorry about your bike. I will repay the cost for the damage. Just as soon as Dean has moved on, I can return to my bakery and claim on the insurance and pay you back for the damage I caused,” I apologise.

“I don’t want your money,” he states.

I frown. “But I want to,” I counter.

“Sweetheart, I don’t need your money,” he states.

I get out of bed and stand up. “I didn’t say you needed it. I said I wanted to give you it,” I argue back.

“I won’t accept it,” he snaps.

“You have to,” I counter, feeling my irritation rise.

He uncrosses his arms and takes a step towards me. “I don’t have to do anything I don’t want to.”

I step towards him and poke my finger in his chest. “It’s the polite thing to do. I ruined your bike, so I should pay for the repairs, and you should accept my offer,” I tell him.

Spider leans his head back and sighs. “Why have you got to fight me over fucking everything?” he sighs.

“Why have you got to be a jackass?” I counter.

He looks down at me, his green eyes glimmering with amusement. He likes it when I challenge him. Lifting his hand, his fingers delicately glide over one of the large grazes on my arm. I suck in a breath.

“This is the reason why you don’t have to pay me. I’m just glad you are okay,” he declares.

“I’m fine.” I whisper. My eyes are transfixed on his, and as he breaks the contact, his eyes flicker lower to my neck. He reaches up and begins to stroke his thumb over the hicky he gave me.

“I don’t think I’ve ever given a hicky to anyone in my life,” he states.

I shudder under his gentle touch. “Well then, I guess that’s another first for you,” I tease. “I guess I should count myself as the lucky one. I’m the only person you’ve cum in and the only person you’ve marked. Your firsts that are now your regrets,” I sigh.

His gaze heats. “I don’t regret any of it,” he rasps.

I suck in a shuddery breath as the desire crackles between us, but it doesn’t last long. Breaking it, he looks away before he shoves his hands into his pockets.

“I’m glad you are okay. Get some rest,” he states before leaving, closing the door behind him.

I stand there in the middle of the room, wondering what that was all about. I rub my face and climb into bed, not even bothering to try and pick apart why he was here and overthink any of it. He just simply came to check on me like a nice guy.

The next day I walk over to the garage, where a few of the brothers are working on cars and bikes. I notice Spider’s bike and the paintwork is ruined. “I have to say you did a pretty good job on it,” Scar says as he walks toward me, wiping his hands on a blue rag.

“I feel awful,” I admit. “It wasn’t a part of the plan to come off it,” I add.

“Well beautiful, unless you are a seasoned rider, then that is exactly what I expect to happen. I’m more fucking surprised you didn’t come off it sooner,” he states. I run my fingers through my hair, watching as Scar looks down at my side where its badly grazed. He tuts and shakes his head. “Just promise me you won’t damage this stunning body again,” he says, raising a brow.

“I promise.” I smile. “Have you seen Spider?” I ask, looking around.

Scar shifts uncomfortably. “He’s gone,” he sighs.

I frown. “Gone where?”

“To find Acid. We had a meeting last night and Spider volunteered to go find him and bring him back,” he states.

“Oh. Well, that’s good. I mean, it’s why I’m here.” I smile.

Scar nods. “Right. Listen, sorry darlin,’ but I’ve got to get this cambelt done.”

I hold my hands up. “Of course! Sorry,” I apologise. I wander over to one of the benches and take a seat. Sitting there in silence, alone with my thoughts, the peace is nice as the warm sun heats my skin.

“You don’t know what to do when he isn’t here,” a deep voice states from behind me. I spin around to see Ghost stood there, smoking a cigarette.

“I didn’t know you smoked,” I state.

“I don’t,” he adds before taking another drag. He walks around and sits down opposite me. His glacial intense gaze cuts through me, making me shift uncomfortably. “You know I don’t need to reiterate the fact that he overstepped by fucking you,” Ghost says bluntly.

“Yeah, I got that.” I nod with a tight smile. “I don’t see how it’s any of your business, or anyone else’s. But as you say, club rules, or whatever reason you give,” I say, feeling irritated.

He shakes his head as he drops the cigarette to the floor before stomping it out with his booted foot. “You don’t get our way of life, and that’s fine. I ain’t asking for your understanding, but I am demanding that you fucking respect it. Him and Acid are brothers, best friends. What he did, fucking you, it was not only crossing the line, but it was disrespectful to Acid. You don’t fuck your best friend’s sister. If you were my sister, Spider would be dead,” he states sternly. He means it, too.

“I respect it, but I’m sure even my brother would understand that we are grown adults who are capable to make up our own minds,” I argue. “It was a one time thing, something that shouldn’t have happened, but in the heat of the moment, it did. That’s all there is to it,” I defend.

Ghost’s lips tip up in the corners. He shakes his head as he stands. “I’m an asshole. I can be a mean motherfucker. Hell darlin’, I am many things, but one thing I ain’t is stupid, so don’t treat me like I am,” he warns, holding up his index finger to stop me from interrupting. “And if you are about to argue it some more, then it’s you that is fucking stupid to think you have any control of the situation, when it’s the situation that has control over both of you,” he states before he walks away.

“But how do I stop it if I’m not in control?” I yell after him.

“You fight it, and you take yourself out of it. You fucking respect it,” he yells back.

I sigh, feeling even more conflicted than before Ghost gave me a talk.
