Chapter Seven #2
“Certainly. It’s because I don’t want you anywhere near me.”
I heard Blake’s sharp intake of breath. He buried his face in my shoulder willingly this time in embarrassment. Evoq gave me an uncomfortable smile again.
“I see. Well, it was just an idea,” he said. “Thank you anyway for your, uh… kind consideration, Your Majesty. I should be going.”
He bowed and turned to go out the door. I stopped him as he reached for the door handle.
“Oh, and Evoq, don’t come to my private quarters again to speak with my mate.
Or for any other reason. In fact, don’t speak to my Consort at all, unless I give you permission.
If you have some business before the king, you can present yourself in the throne room, just like everybody else. Do I make myself clear?”
He flushed a dull, angry red. “Perfectly, Your Majesty.”
“Good. Run along, Evoq. I’m going to fuck the lieutenant now.”
I turned back to Blake, who had a furious expression on his face, as I heard the door closing behind the priest.
“The human slave who lived with my father for a while used to say, ‘Better hope your face doesn’t freeze like that,’” I said and stood up to put him down and fall into the chair across from him. “Probably good advice. You should take it.”
“You should certainly know a lot about freezing. You people keep it cold enough in here for a person to freeze solid. Who exactly sets the temperature in the palace to this polar vortex? I may as well try to live inside a walk-in freezer.”
“The temperature in here is perfectly pleasant. Wrap yourself in a blanket if you’re cold. Or maybe you could wear more clothes under that robe. Oh wait. I’ve forbidden that, haven’t I?”
“You’re such a rude ass. I hate you. At least Evoq came to check on me to see how I’m doing. I never see you as a rule from dawn to dusk. And you could give the man a ride if you wanted to.”
“Yes, but I don’t want to.”
“Why not?”
“A better question might be why are you so quick to spring to his defense? Wait—do you miss him? Should I tell a guard to bring him back so he can join us in bed?”
“Don’t be ridiculous. We’re not going to bed.”
“That’s what you think,” I said, waggling my eyebrows at him.
“I hate you,” he said again.
“No, you don’t. Don’t say that anymore, or I’ll make you beg me to let you come before I’m through. Unless you ask me nicely to wait until tonight. Go ahead—ask me to wait, and I’ll consider it. And say please.”
He cleared his throat. “Please, Davos. Can we wait until tonight?”
I pretended to think about it. “No. Now get your robe off and climb up on that bed.”
He didn’t move fast enough, so I came up behind him as he was climbing and gave him a little spank to get him moving. “That’s for allowing that priest in here while I was gone. Next time, I’ll fuck you in front of him and make him watch.”

Rakkur
It had taken me a bit longer than I’d anticipated, and I hoped my omak hadn’t continued the story without me, but then again why would he?
My father already knew the whole thing, of course.
I came back in the room and was surprised to find them lying on the bed and kissing, with the king lying on top of Omak.
My brothers and I had interrupted them like this all the time when we were growing up.
Still did, for that matter. I’d almost gotten used to it, though my omak never did.
He blushed every time and yelled at me to knock.
The king would laugh at him and usually do something to him under the covers to make him squeal.
I was never embarrassed by it. I wanted to one day have the same kind of love they possessed with Tariq—passionate, and long-lasting, and just as vital to us today as it would be twenty years from now.
But my omak was human, and the king said that explained a lot.
I put the glass down on the table beside the bed, and my omak drank some of it, and then he held the cold glass to his suspiciously pink cheeks. What had they been doing while I was gone?
“Back so soon?” the king asked me. “You should take a walk and get some fresh air.”
“It’s not soon, Father. I had to go all the way to the kitchens to get the glass. And I saw one of the Imperials down the hall and stopped to talk to him. He said he’d heard that Tariq was on his way. Does that mean, he’s talking to everybody except me?”
“I have no idea. But I was told you never wanted to see him again. He probably was too.”
“I didn’t say never. Did I say, never? That would be crazy, because we have twin babies together.”
“Very true. So why are you fighting so much?”
“I-I don’t think he loves me anymore.”
“But that would be impossible, Rakkur. You’ve bonded and besides, you look just like your omak. He wouldn’t be able to resist you. Okay, settle down and I’ll tell you about our trip to Leeria.
“Leeria? Why did you go there?”
“Oh, a trader named Atlantheum Rabb wanted to meet me in orbit there.”
“Oh. But Father, I asked you not to tell the story without me.”
“It’s all right. You didn’t miss a thing.”

Much later, after thoroughly ravishing him, I told Blake to pack a bag.
“Pack? But where am I going?”
“Classified information, but you’ll see.”
“But what am I doing?”
“As you’re told. Now go pack a few robes and something warm to wear since you’re always claiming to be so cold. We’re leaving in a few hours.”
“But why can’t you tell me where I’m going?”
“Need to know basis. And you have no need to know.” I stood up then and pulled him to his feet to bend him back over my arm and kiss him until he was gasping a little and moaning a lot and clinging to my shoulders.
Sometimes I couldn’t help myself when I was near him.
Then I set him back on his feet, patted his little ass and sauntered to the door.
“This was nice. We’ll have to do this more often. ”
“Wait, please! Are you… Davos, tell me the truth, please. Are you sending me away? Are you getting a divorce from me? I have a right to know if you are.”
He had raised that stubborn little chin and was facing me defiantly, his blue eyes flashing. If he hadn’t been trembling, his defiance wouldn’t have been quite so obviously a lie. I should have felt sorry for him—I did not.
“First of all, you need to understand that you have no rights at all except for what I give you. Second…wait. Actually, there is no second. Besides, why would I ever let you get away? I’ll never let you go, nobyo, so don’t get your hopes up.”
I turned then and walked out the door. Something large and breakable hit the closed door behind me, and I heard glass shattering in the room. I was still smiling as I called a passing guard over to stand by the door.
“Make sure no one comes in or goes out of these rooms other than the servants. He’s locked in, so make sure he stays that way. If the Consort complains or tries to leave without permission, you have orders to stop him.”
“Yes, Your Majesty, but pardon me, what should I do? You’ve forbidden any of us to touch him.”
“You can touch him if he tries to leave. He’s not a large person. I think you can handle him. Just stop him. Tie him to a chair if you have to and call me. Oh, and tell the servants to pack me a bag to last me about a week.”
“Yes, Sire. I’ll see it done.”
“Good man,” I said, and headed back to my office to make the final arrangements for our journey, feeling invigorated.
If only I’d had time every day to take him to bed for an hour or so, just to remind him of his place in this relationship.
But I’d have plenty of time on the ship later.
And I was very much looking forward to that.
Our ship would be a large Imperial class, the largest of the battle cruisers.
It was big enough to take us anywhere in the galaxy we wanted to go and had enough fire power to wipe out anything we came up against. Built initially as a massive pleasure craft by the shipyards on Earth before the war, our forces had seized them and updated them with armament that allowed them to operate against any warship in the Alliance fleet and still come out on top.
They were sleek, fast and very comfortable.
A cigar shaped vessel, it was dotted with an array of deflector shields and weapons that made it formidable in battle.
I was taking no chances with this meeting with the Nilaniums, as it was far too close to Leeria, whose government I didn’t trust and never had.
Then too, I had precious cargo on board, in the form of my unborn child. His bearer too, if I were in the mood to be honest. There were many who would like to get their hands on such a prize as my beautiful consort.
We boarded the ship that evening, and I’d had Blake taken straight to my quarters as soon as he arrived, where he was waiting for me now. I didn’t do it to be mean. I simply didn’t like him to be in the rough company of soldiers.
I had gone to the wardroom on the ship to dine with my men, but I asked for a tray to be taken to my consort in our quarters.
He was far too thin, and I knew how picky he was about food.
I had brought along some of the food he liked to eat—or tolerated, anyway—since he was carrying the baby and needed his strength.
Once the child was born, I planned to make him eat the food Tygerians ate and learn to like it.
Or maybe I could arrange for the traders to bring him human food. I hated to indulge him so much. He was far too spoiled as it was, but I couldn’t let him starve, I suppose. And he was just stubborn and contrary enough to do it too, just to spite me.
The company at dinner was good, and the wine and food were excellent, so I was in a decent mood as I went to my quarters near the bridge.
