Chapter 12

CHAPTER TWELVE

Knox

Seeing Elton sprint away from me like some uncoordinated gazelle is hotter than I thought it’d be.

I’m standing by the entrance of the club, giving him a headstart. I’m not worried about him finding his way out because we locked all the entrances and exits minus the front door before this started.

“This is so hot,” Skylar squeals beside me as he comes out of his hiding spot. “Can I—”

“No, you can not make chibis of this,” I snap at him as I shake my head. “Cassius, control your boyfriend.”

Cassius takes off his mask, revealing his smirk and the black eye he got from his fight earlier this week. “Never. Better watch your mouth, though. I haven’t punched something in a few days.”

“Oh, don’t worry, Cassy. He’s just playing,” Skylar coos. He looks over his shoulder at where Elton ran before winking at me. “How long are you going to give him?”

“I think—” I laugh when Elton squeals from behind the stage, probably scared shitless by the clown I planted there. “Right about now.” I look at Rhys and Everest who have also emerged from their hiding space. “Now, get the fuck out, all of you.”

Skylar rolls his eyes. “Always ruining our fun.”

“Watch my brother get fucked by my bestfriend?” Everest shudders. “Not on my bucket list, but you have fun, Knox.”

“Can I come out now?”

All of us turn to watch a stumbling Max who—for some reason—has his fucking mask on backwards.

“Guys! Guys! I can’t seeeee!”

“Oh, Maxi,” Skylar giggles, skipping over to him so he can remove his mask. “What would we do without you?”

“What do we do with him— Ow!”

Everest’s eyes are narrowed as he pulls back the hand that slapped the back of my head. “Go fulfill Elton’s kink and leave Max alone.”

“I—”

“Actually, Maximillian is going to come with me.”

Our heads all whip in the direction of the stairs where Davis stands… as a vampire? He has a blood red cloak, his hair styled in a slicked back manner, and little fangs protruding from his top row of teeth.

What the…

Max points at himself and mouths ‘me’ and Davis nods with a roll of his eyes. “Come on, Maximilian. It’s time for pie.”

“Oh shit,” he mumbles under his breath. “Daddy’s mad.”

Skylar’s eyes widen just as Cassius’s nose wrinkles. “Daddy?”

Max doesn’t answer as he practically races up the stairs behind Davis. Everest’s jaw is dropped while Rhys shakes his head. “I need to get out of this place.”

“What would you do without us Rhys?” Skylar asks cutely.

Cassius nods. “Life would definitely lack a bit of fun.”

“Fucking go,” I command. I know there’s no getting Davis out of his office, but I have a feeling he’ll be otherwise occupied for a bit.

As for the rest of them, I can’t start my hunt with them there, so I wait until they file out one-by-one through the front entrance.

Making sure I lock it after they’re out, I turn towards the dark club stage and smile.

Time to catch my prey.
