Chapter 3

CHAPTER THREE

Genevieve

My alarm wakes me up and I stretch. For a minute, I forgot where I was and then it all comes back to me.

Julian and Amber. All of a sudden, I can’t stop my tears from falling.

I still can’t believe he did this to me…

to us. What is wrong with me that he wasn’t satisfied with how we were? How did I miss the signs?

Genevieve: Hi, are we still on for dinner?

Michel: Yes. Did you look at the menu? If you want something that’s not on the menu, we can do that too

Genevieve: Do you know what I miss? Choucroute garnie. My maman used to make it for our Saturday family dinners

Michel: I have an idea. I’ll see you at 6. Don’t forget, you have the use of the spa, you can get a massage or use the sauna

Genevieve: Thank you so much, see you at 6

I sit and wonder what Michel’s dinner plan is. Just the thought of dinner is making me hungry now. I head down to the restaurant to grab a sandwich. As I’m heading back to the elevator, I see Julian at the front desk. Before I can turn around, he sees me.

“Gen. Come on, Gen,” he says as I keep walking.

“Leave me alone. We have nothing to talk about.”

“I love you. You know that. I made a mistake.”

I whip around to face him.

“I never want to see you again. I don’t care how many times you apologize. It’ll never be enough to make me forget what I saw. Obviously you wanted to be a free man. Well, now you are. I will say one thing, thank you for doing this now. And not waiting until we were further into this relationship.”

I turn towards the elevators, Julian grabs my arm and tries to turn me to face him, but I stand my ground.

“Let go of me.” I frown.

“No. You’re going to talk to me.”

“I think you need to let her go,” I hear Michel say to Julian. Even after such a short time, I know the sound of his voice.

“Look man, I’m just trying to have a conversation with my girlfriend.”

“It doesn’t look like she wants to talk to you. So. Let. Her. Go. Or I’ll be calling the police and you can explain to them why you feel the need to put your hands on a woman.”

“She’s my woman. I can do whatever the fuck I want with her.”

“That’s where you’re wrong.”

Michel forces Julian to let go of me.

“Go on up to your room. I’ll take care of him,” he says to me.

“Thank you,” I say to him as I head to the elevators and back up to my room.

Michel

“You need to leave and if I see you around, I will call the cops.”

The asshole laughs.

“Genevieve is my woman. Mine. I don’t know who the fuck you are and why you think you can keep me from her. But you can’t. As for calling the cops? Go ahead, my brothers in blue got my back.”

That fucker’s laughing as he says this to me. He’s a fucking cop? I watch him walk out of my hotel as my sisters come over to me.

“What was that about?” Noelle asks.

“That douchebag was touching Genevieve.”

“Who’s Genevieve?” Amélie asks.

“Holy crap. You like her,” Noelle adds.

“That asshole did something to her. I don’t know what it is. But I’m going to find out.”

“You said he’s a cop? That might not work out so well for you.”

“I don’t care. Maybe I can ask Salvatore if he can find more out about this asshole.”

Our Lake Renegade family has never let us down, and I think I need their help. I don’t like how he put his hands on my woman. And if there’s one thing I know about our extended family? No one touches our women. No matter who they are.

“I think we need to meet this Genevieve. Are you sure about her?” Noelle asks.

“Are you seriously asking me that after you and Hunter?”

My sister sighs.

“I’m sorry, Michel. I shouldn’t have said that. If she’s the one? We’re behind you, but I still want to meet her. Can we meet her now?”

“Let me text her and ask. I don’t want to just show up at her door.”

“What room is she staying in?” Amélie asks.

“She’s in penthouse seven.”

Both of my sisters nod at me, I love them and the support they’ve always given me. And Noelle understands the instant feeling that you have when you meet someone.

Michel: Hi, I was wondering if you were up for some company? My sisters would like to meet you

Genevieve: Are they mad that I’m here?

Michel: Not even a little bit. But they do have some questions

Genevieve: Okay

Michel: Thank you

“She said we can come up. But please. If you love me even a tiny bit, be nice to her. I think she’s been through something. But I don’t know what it is. All I know is that I’m going to help her through it.”

“Please don’t be mad at me for saying this. But I hope she feels the same way about you. Because if she doesn’t? I’m not gonna be a happy sister.”

“We’re not gonna be happy sisters. And we’ll call Emma and tell her about it.”

I laugh and hug both of them. I truly do have the best sisters.

“What did I miss? Why are you all hugging in the lobby?” Henri asks as he joins us.

“Do you need a hug too?” Amélie laughs.

“Uh. Yeah.”

We all get in a group hug.

“Time to meet Michel’s love.”

“Whoa. I really did miss a lot. What the fuck is going on? Who’s the girl?”

“Her name is Genevieve and I just know she's beautiful. But we have to call our Lake Renegade family to help us out,” Noelle says to him.

“There’s always something we need help with. But I don’t mind having them here.” He grins.

“Let’s go and meet her, then decide what our next step is.”

We all head to the elevator and up to Genevieve’s suite.
