Chapter 5 Boss and Intern Backup
Lu Xiao stands up abruptly from the main seat, his face extremely ugly.
"Su Mo, this childish? You specifically hired two people to act just to piss me off?"
My boss and intern stand on either side of me.
They quickly process Lu Xiao's words, glance at each other like they've reached an understanding, and step closer to me.
Boss: "Acting? Isn't acting your specialty? I know you; I invested in part of your new drama."
Implying, as a major investor, do I need to act with you? You're not worthy.
Lu Xiao's face darkens with shock.
Before Lu Xiao recovers from the shock.
The college intern chimes in seamlessly.
"Su Mo, he looks useless at first glance."
He says it, lifting his chin arrogantly, almost pasting "I'm young, I can do it" on his forehead.
Lu Xiao can't counter the max-level damage from the investor boss and diamond college guy.
He redirects his spear at me again.
"Fine, Su Mo, you play dirtier than the entertainment industry."
"I treated you like a pure white jasmine, cherished you, but I was blind."
The words are harsh.
I hesitate almost not at all, pick up the full glass of wine the classmate urged me to drink, and splash it over.
"Lu Xiao, by slandering me as a jerk, does that make your jerkiness less shameful?"
"That's all you've got."
After saying that, I turn and leave.
The boss and college intern lag half a step behind, both glancing contemptuously at Lu Xiao like a defeated dog, slamming the door hard.
Three meters away.
I turn and thank sincerely.
"Boss, thanks for earlier—"
Boss: "Guest appearance fee deducted from your bonus this month, but hey, acting is pretty fun."
Me: Capitalist's face, I shouldn't have been grateful.
The college intern is still pure and loyal.
"Intern, you're still—"
"Team leader, I want a day off tomorrow to spend my girlfriend's birthday; if you don't approve, I'll go back now and take back what I said."
Me: Calculating white-eyed wolf, next project I'll torture you to death.
I grit my teeth in frustration, force a smile.
"Let's go, if we leave them hanging longer, the assistant girl we brought might pour tea until her hands go numb."
Behind me are the man's and boy's hearty laughs.
Inclusive and natural.
At an angle they can't see, I tug at the corner of my mouth too.
Maybe they're doing this to avoid making me feel burdened or awkward.
The second half of the partner meeting goes extremely smoothly.
After signing the intent contract, I complete the handover with the follow-up execution department.
No new project yet.
Suddenly idle at the company, like a slacker.
The boss can't stand it, calls me into the office.
"Su Mo, the company is a whole, each of us is part of the company—"
"Just say it, which part is short-staffed?"
The boss chuckles awkwardly, clearly lacking confidence.
"The drama I invested in is about to start shooting; the investment ratio is significant, it's our company's biggest investment project right now."
"We have financial oversight rights on the project, need to send a resident representative to help finance understand and supervise crew expenses, set construction, and other large expenditures, assist finance in judging if it's reasonable, ensure fund use complies with the contract."
I'm a bit puzzled.
That's finance department's job.
The boss rubs his nose awkwardly.
"The three people in finance who can go out: one pregnant, one trying to get pregnant, and the other one."
