Chapter 20 #2

I’d always do my best to fulfill his wishes.

I shifted, using my knee to hold one of his legs open, watching the way he was laid bare before me, his cock twitching, balls drawn up high. He was shaking, but there was no fear in his scent. Just anticipation and want.

I leaned over, reaching for the drawer of my nightstand to get the lube.

“I’ll go slow,” I said when I opened the bottle, and the slightly chemical scent of lube hit my nose. I didn’t necessarily like it, but the artificial scent was way better than risking hurting my mate.

Nix grinned at me, a devious glint in his eyes.

“You do know I can heal people, right?”

I growled. “Just because you can heal yourself doesn’t mean I’ll risk hurting you.”

What the fuck?

Nix groaned, letting his head fall back against the sheets.

“That came out wrong. I meant… I can help my body… relax.”

Oh.

Ohh.

My cock jerked, precum running down my length at the thought of just… sliding home into his tight channel, but…

“I still want to prep you.”

Nix smiled, lifting his hand to touch my cheek. “Of course you do.” He shook his head, but the smile stayed in place, eyes soft in a way I hadn’t seen from him.

I leaned down, catching his lips in another kiss, swallowing his groans as I lazily circled his entrance.

Nix deserved for me to take my time. He deserved for his first time not to be rushed. He deserved to be cherished and spoiled. He deserved only good things in life.

He breathed a sigh of relief as I entered him, muscles pliant, relaxed. His eyes fell closed, cock jerking as I spread the lube, making sure he was ready for me. I didn’t just want his body to be ready, but him. I needed him to want it. To need me to fuck him more than he needed his next breath.

I worked my way to two fingers, then three, building up a rhythm, stroking his insides, stretching his rim, and when I brushed over his prostate, his heart skipped a beat, breath stuttering in his chest, body tensing before he let out a long moan, eyes flying open.

“Gray…” I knew what he wanted to say. He wanted me to get on with it, but he wasn’t ready. Or maybe I wasn’t. Not yet. I brushed his prostate again, hitting it with every other thrust until his eyes rolled back, head lolling from one side to the other.

I grinned, pleasure warming my whole body upon seeing my mate like this. Lost in his lust, completely relaxed. I’d wanted him just like this. Needed him like this.

Leaning in, I kissed my way up his throat, along his jaw until I finally found his mouth, already open, waiting for me.

“Gray,” he moaned, the sound turning into a whine when my fingers slid out of his hole. He opened his eyes in protest, but before he could say anything, I positioned myself, lining my slicked cock up with his hole.

I wanted to look him in the eyes while I entered him, but I also wanted to be as close to him as possible, so I kissed him again, my body covering his as I slowly breached his ring of muscles.

Nix moaned, his body tensing, static crackling in the air.

I was waiting for the release, the lightning, but the static only ever grew, and the whole bedroom filled with electricity.

Nix’s fingers dug into my back in search of something to hold on to.

He wrapped his legs around my waist and pulled himself up, taking more and more of me when I was too slow for his liking.

“Patience,” I whispered into his mouth, my fingers dancing over the sweat-slicked skin of his temples. His hair was damp, but still oh so soft and silky. “We’ve got time.”

As an answer, he dug his heels into my ass and pulled me down. When that didn’t work, an invisible force started pressing against my tailbone.

I snorted, pushing a strand of hair out of his eyes.

“Quit it with the magic.”

Nix grinned up at me, not looking sorry at all. He looked… free. Playful. Perfect.

My heart lurched, and I caught his lips once more, then pushed all the way in. His muscles tightened around my cock, the heat almost too much.

“Goddess, Nix,” I breathed and pulled back just to slide home again. And again, and again, setting up a slow, deep rhythm that had Nix meeting my every thrust.

I closed my eyes and allowed myself to get lost in the moment. In the feeling of him, his body surrounding me, his magic crackling in the air. His noises, his pleasure, his scent. It all washed over me again and again, waves building until the final one crashed into me.

Nix came with a shout, his body clamping around me, sending me deep diving into the ocean of pleasure.

I didn’t think. One moment I was kissing him, and the next, my teeth pierced the skin of his neck and my mouth filled with his coppery-sweet blood.

Nix shouted again, and purple lit up the room. My cock spurted, blinding pleasure rolling over me as something inside me snapped into place.

My lips found Nix’s just in time to taste him one more time before everything turned black.

I couldn’t have been out long. My muscles were still pleasantly sore and tense, yet at the same time relaxed and gooey. It was the oddest sensation, a contradiction of feelings, but one I associated with bone-deep pleasure.

I was on my back, I realized upon opening my eyes and seeing the ceiling with the exposed wooden beams.

Nix was lying next to me, his hand in mine, our fingers interlaced. He was breathing evenly, and the air surrounding us was calm, the storm gone.

Mate, my wolf preened, puffing out his chest. Ours. Finally.

Wait… fuck.

I rolled to my side, scanning Nix’s body, my eyes immediately zeroing in on the spot I’d bitten him. The spot where a very prominent, very much healed imprint of my fangs sat, proudly marking him as my mate.

Shit. Oh crap. I’d just…

“Don’t freak out,” Nix said, and turned his head in my direction, face all relaxed. He didn’t look like he minded; hell, he didn’t feel like he minded. Because he was there, in my chest, his emotions echoing through my body.

It should’ve calmed me, but I’d still fucking mated with him without asking.

He squeezed my hand in reassurance.

“You’re still freaking out,” he whispered conspiratorially, as if he were letting me in on a secret, not my own feelings. “You don’t have to.”

“Don’t I?” Because from where I stood, I definitely had to.

Nix snorted. “What did you expect to happen?”

I blinked. I’d expected us to have sex.

“We’re mates,” Nix explained, raising his eyebrows at me. “It’s kind of what happens between mates.”

Yeah, but it was his first time. I should’ve…

Nix rolled over, pushing up to his elbow, and smiled down at me.

“I knew we would likely end up mated.” He shook his head slightly, like he couldn’t believe what he was saying.

“And I wanted it. You know, when I first realized we were mates, I was terrified. I thought fate was playing some kind of cruel joke on me. But the truth is, you’re a good man, Gray.

And an even better Alpha. Your pack is… I think I might actually be able to be comfortable being part of a pack, if it’s yours.

And that’s something I didn’t think was possible.

But it’s you who shaped this pack. Your views, your ethics. ”

I swallowed.

“I’m not doing much. My grandfather…”

Nix rolled his eyes, then pressed a kiss to my lips, silencing me.

“Don’t sell yourself short. You’re doing that a lot.

Your father this, your grandfather that.

Rhett this, Oakley that. Don’t get me wrong.

They’re all playing important parts, but you’re the heart of this pack.

And that’s the only reason I’m even willing to consider being a part of it.

” Nix whispered the words against my lips, his breath fanning over my face, sending a shiver down my spine.

He… did he really think of me like that?

My wolf preened, more willing to take these compliments as fact than I was. Nix had a distorted view of me, tinted by the mate bond.

“You can believe me,” he said, his face hovering inches over mine, lips tilted into a gentle smile.

“I believe you see me that way,” I said.

Nix snorted, and something glinted in his eyes. The next moment, a short burst of pain went through my body, from my nipple right into my dick. I yelped, looking at my mate in betrayal as he grinned at me with so much mischief, it was hard to believe he was usually so meek and afraid.

“Hey!” I complained, rubbing my nipple.

“Sorry.” However, he did not sound sorry, and when I checked our bond, I found that he didn’t feel sorry either.

I raised my eyebrows at him, and Nix giggled.

“Okay, I’m not really sorry. This ‘I believe that’s the way you feel, but it’s not the truth’ thing is bullshit.

But it’s okay. I’ll have plenty of time to show you how I—and your pack—see you. ”

Plenty of time. More like…

“We have a lifetime,” I whispered, the feeling hitting me like a sledgehammer. We were mated. I had him for the rest of my life.

“A lifetime,” he agreed, leaning in to press another kiss to my lips. “Forever.”
