Stay Here
Before
mockingbird:
Sometimes I don’t understand guys.
eastcoleman:
Why? What’s going on?
mockingbird:
Prom is in two weeks. Two!!! Today that idiot Damien asked me to go with him. Everyone else asked their dates weeks ago, and now he comes at the last minute and expects me to say yes. He can’t be serious!
eastcoleman:
Maybe he didn’t have the courage to ask you before.
mockingbird:
Oh, come on. We were going out at the beginning of the year, for a few weeks. He was the one who broke up with me. I really doubt that’s the reason.
eastcoleman:
Well, if he broke your heart and now wants to get closer again, it’s understandable that it would be difficult for him, isn’t it?
mockingbird:
Hey, whose side are you on, anyway?
eastcoleman:
Yours. Always.
mockingbird:
Thanks. But he didn’t break my heart. It’s not like we were together because I was madly in love with him.
eastcoleman:
Then why were you with him?
mockingbird:
If I tell you, you won’t like it.
eastcoleman:
Tell me anyway.
mockingbird:
Hailey was dating Damien’s best friend at the time, and I thought we’d start hanging out more if we were both dating guys from the same group. Turned out to be a mistake. Hailey still didn’t have time for me, and when we were all out together, she was all over Josh.
eastcoleman:
. . .
mockingbird:
I told you that you wouldn’t like it. Are you pissed off?
eastcoleman:
No. But I really can’t stand Hailey.
mockingbird:
You don’t have to. But please explain to me why Damien is back now.
eastcoleman:
He broke up with you?
mockingbird:
Yes.
eastcoleman:
Why?
mockingbird:
There was another girl, and it probably didn’t help that I wasn’t interested in going out with him that often. I prefer to stay at home, and he wanted to drag me to parties every weekend. But like I said, it’s not like he broke my heart or anything.
eastcoleman:
Okay, to be honest, I have no clue what he wants. He didn’t just suddenly realize that he has feelings for you after all, did he?
mockingbird:
His original date probably canceled on him.
eastcoleman:
And do you want to be his new date?
mockingbird:
No way. I don’t even want to go to the prom.
eastcoleman:
You can’t miss your prom.
mockingbird:
Sure I can.
eastcoleman:
If it’s about having a date, I could come.
mockingbird:
You would do that?
eastcoleman:
Yes.
mockingbird:
That’s really sweet of you. But no, you can’t fly to LA just for my prom.
eastcoleman:
I could.
mockingbird:
That’s so nice, but you don’t have to. I really don’t want to go. I just don’t like events like that.
eastcoleman:
Let me know if you change your mind.
mockingbird:
Thanks, Easton.
eastcoleman:
Anytime, Birdy.
