Chapter 32 #2
“How’d you sneak that tee into your luggage?
” Roman sipped the hotel room coffee, his side to the window overlooking the city as she exited the bathroom Saturday morning in only a T-shirt and her nude panties.
Her hair lay wet over her shirt from her quick shower.
Her second shower since last night, and the first one was by far the best since Roman had joined her.
Double showerheads and Roman. Yeah, it’d been perfect.
Harper lowered her focus to her tee that read, If you’re going to be salty, at least bring the tequila.
Her sister, Jenny, had matching shirts made for them last year. Tequila was their go-to for a good time because why wouldn’t it be?
“I needed to bring along a little piece of me if I was going to survive this trip.” She strode before him and stole his cup of coffee, and he narrowed his eyes as if he were about to scold her for such thievery.
He looked relaxed with the city of Cape Town behind him as he stood in a plain white tee and black sweats.
“Looks like you snuck some of your own clothes into your bag, too.”
He reached around, slapped her ass, and stole back his coffee. “Bad girl.” He lifted his chin and slid his tongue between his barely parted lips. More like, bad boy. Well, bad man. Roman was ALL man.
“After keeping me awake half the night, what’d you expect?” she teased, then turned around and strolled away with a little shake of her ass since she knew he was watching.
It was nine a.m., and they knew Luciano would be calling for them soon. Somehow, they’d dodged the asshole all night, and thanks to texts from Finn on Luciano’s whereabouts after dinner, they’d felt comfortable to stay in their room and enjoy each other.
“Oh, you already poured me a cup while I was showering.” She picked up the coffee by the machine on the desk and relaxed at the feel of his body behind her, an arm wrapped around her abdomen.
“Of course,” he said into her ear before brushing her wet locks from her shoulder. “I can’t wait for today to be over with. We’re taking time off after this.”
She turned to face him, took his coffee, and set both of their cups down on the desk.
Roman gently placed his hands on her waist, and she smoothed her palms from the middle of his chest out to his biceps as she met his eyes. “I’d be down for that.”
“I have a few ideas planned for us.” He winked, sending her heart pitter-pattering. On the rare occasions Roman winked, he looked so innocent and sweet that she couldn’t help but melt a little.
“Care to share with the class?”
His hand climbed up her back before twirling her hair into a loose fist and gently tipping her head back. “A surprise, my love,” he said before kissing her, only to grunt a second later when a loud rap sounded at the door.
“Hey, it’s me.”
Finn. Oh, the timing. “I was so close to getting another orgasm, wasn’t I?” she whispered, playfully lifting her brows a few times.
“Well, if you don’t put some pants on before I open this door, I might give your ass a nice . . .” He dropped his words and shot her a slow, sexy smile, letting her fill in the blanks.
Damn, she was aroused at the idea, but now she had to face Finn and reality.
Roman went to the door and set his hand to the knob.
“Pants,” he mouthed, and part of her loved seeing him all frustrated at the idea that someone else might see her panties other than him.
Not that she’d ever let that happen, but it was fun bringing out the growly, protective and possessive side of him.
When she gave him a salute, he cocked his head and lifted his brows with a look that said, You’re going to get it later, then she snatched a pair of soft, cotton shorts she’d also smuggled into her suitcase before Roman’s superfan stylists had noticed and quickly pulled them on.
“Sorry,” Finn said once he was in their suite. “I didn’t want to text this.”
Finn looked back and forth between Harper and Roman with narrowed eyes, clearly aware of what had gone on. She hoped he found his someone soon. He couldn’t be the only single guy on the teams. It broke her heart just to think about it.
And damn. Does the room smell like sex? She nearly lifted her nose like a hound to check as she strode his way.
Roman folded his arms and leaned against the wall by the closed door, eyes on Finn.
“I just got back from tailing your uncle.”
Two point five seconds was all it took for Roman’s relaxed state to completely dissolve.
He straightened instantly, and Harper went to him, her pulse quickening.
“He met with Talon in person.” Finn handed over his phone, and Roman held it between her and him as he swiped through the photos on the screen. “Looks like Talon handed over a USB.”
“The blackmail he had on Luciano,” Roman said under his breath.
“I couldn’t get close enough to listen to their conversation, but Talon joined Luciano in his limo, and the traitor is here at the hotel. They didn’t exit together, but I think Talon is changing his timeline.”
Harper’s stomach sank.
Finn looked her way and grimaced. “I think whatever they’re planning is about to go down now.”
