Epilogue

Three years later.

Wynter

I’m just finishing the last strand of lights on the tree, when my phone rings. It’s the special ring tone I use just for my adored. He’s been out volunteering with the road crews to clear the snow from yesterday’s storm so people can get to their holiday parties.

“Latría mu, where are you?”

“On my way, agápi mou. We finished plowing the roads. Everyone should be able to get to their homes for the holiday. I’m starting on our drive now.

“Dom is a life saver. He volunteered to pick up my sister from the train station since I was running late. Your family will be about a half hour behind him. That gives me time to plow our road and jump in the shower.”

“Relax. I did exactly what you told me with the pork roast. It smells divine. Be safe. I love you.”

I set my phone on the counter and finish wrapping Nico’s surprise gift. The one we will open later, after everyone’s gone.

The first year was… well a little crazy. Okay, borderline insane.

I became mayor with a unanimous vote. They found evidence of fraud by the previous mayor and criminal charges were filled. They’re still trying to find him.

Nico won his final race, beating his last speed record significantly. No one has come close since. One of his skiing students shows remarkable talent and may soon be competing.

Nico and Chad rebuilt the Ice House with their own hands.

Now people come from all around to skate, attend events and just enjoy it.

Our partnership with the Witt Lodge has boosted business for both sides.

And the new restaurant is already expanding.

The town is growing—almost too fast. We are all thriving.

Dad divorced Mom when he found out she’d been having a three-year affair with Theodore. (So that’s why he was always hovering around her.)

Dad sold us the cabin and split the ten acres of family-owned land around it between Dom and me.

Dom wants to build next to us and Nico’s excited to help. He’s becoming quite the construction guy.

I glance at my secret gift again. Good thing, too. We’re going to need an addition to the house in about seven months.
