Chapter 32

Aweek passed with much of the same going on. The bikers continued to watch them, but Grace and Sid continued to move forward with their plans. Sid bought the house on the bluff from Jace. It was an incredible deal and Sid loved that he”d purchased it from Jace.

Today, they were moving her sofa and bed into the house. Her bed was only a queen size bed, and since the house came with the large king bed that was there when they looked at it, her bed would go in the spare bedroom. She removed the sheets from her bed and dropped them in the laundry hamper to wash once they were at the house. Carrying the laundry basket to the living room she set it on the sofa and looked at her little place. She”d finished her work here and had put it on the short-term rental sites last night. Hopefully she”d have guests soon.

Sid entered the bungalow with Quinn, carrying tools. ”Are you ready for me to take the bed apart?”

”Yes. I”ll pull my clothes from the closet and dresser and put them in my car.”

Quinn grinned. ”Where are your guests going to sleep?”

She chuckled. ”I have another bed being delivered today. The headboard is more of a beachy vibe and will fit the whole theme here much better.”

”You”ve done a great job here, Grace.”

”Thank you. It wouldn”t be finished without Jared and Hayden helping me. So, thank you for offering your men to my project.”

”Happy to help.”

Quinn and Sid went to the bedroom and Grace packed up Chiefy”s water and food bowl, the container of dog food, the pig ears she chewed on, and her bed. She placed them in the trunk of her car, waved at the bikers watching them, and went back inside.

They wouldn”t be able to get close to the house, that was a bonus not to have to see them each night.

She entered the house and her phone rang. ”Hello, this is Grace.”

”Hey, Grace, it”s Theresa from the Sandbar.”

”Hi, Theresa, how can I help you?”

”Jace asked me to let you know that we have things all set for tonight. We”ll have a table outside for you to take care of the petition. Hart the Hurricanes will be here to play tonight, and we”ve all been promoting it on our socials. We should have a fantastic turnout.”

”Thank you, Theresa. Sid and I will be down there early tonight to get set up.”

”See you then.”

Sid and Quinn entered the living room carrying the mattress. Sid asked, ”We”re ordering new dishes, right?”

”Yes. I have them ordered and they should be delivered today. Jace has everything set for tonight.”

”Perfect.”

They moved past her with the mattress and went out the door. She closed it behind them and prepared to take her clothes out to the car. She had plastic totes, which she”d moved here with, now filled with the clothing from the dresser. She picked up the first one and carried it to the living room. The other two totes held her clothes from her closet. She carried those to the living room as well just as Quinn and Sid came back inside.

Without a word they each carried a tote to her car. She grinned. Her heart felt full. She looked at Chiefy, ”Ready to go, girl?”

Chiefy whined and followed her to the car without a leash on. She knew Grace was going somewhere and no way was she going to be left behind. Grace opened the back door and Chiefy jumped right in. Sid came over to the car with a grin on his face. Sweat dripped down his temples and his shirt was wet under his arms and his back was drenched. He leaned in gently and kissed her lips, then grinned. ”I”ll see you up there in a few minutes.”

”Sounds good. I”ll get to unpacking things so we can shower and get ready to be at the Sandbar by seven.”

”Perfect. I”m going to need a shower.”

She laughed. ”Yeah, me too. But we won”t have to deal with those guys watching the house tonight.”

”Which reminds me, we have security.”

”You mean Chiefy?”

He chuckled. ”Well, she”s our first line of security. Our second line is the cameras installed along the driveway and all around the house.”

”Really? I didn”t know that.”

”Jace told me this morning. He gave me the codes.” He pulled a sheet of paper from his wallet. ”I”ll need those back.”

She laughed. ”Here, let”s do this.” She pulled her phone out and took a picture of the codes. ”Do I need to do anything when I go up there?”

”No, they”re turned off right now. But, I”ll show you where everything is when I get up there.”

”Okay.” She stood on her toes and kissed his lips. ”See you in a few minutes.”

”Count on it.”

Grace jumped in her car and started it up. The humidity was high today. She”d been sweating all morning as the door to the bungalow had been opened and closed over and over again. Plus all the packing.

She pulled onto Sunset Beach Road, and stayed left at the fork to their new private driveway/road, named Bluff Road. Just like most of the other places and roads here in Blossom Springs. She grinned as she turned up Bluff Road. The sound of a motorcycle behind her had Chiefy growling low. Glancing in her rearview mirror, she saw the biker follow her. After she turned onto Bluff Road, she watched to see if the biker would follow her. There was a sign at the bottom of the road that proudly boasted ”private property”. And still another one that read, ”security cameras in use.”

She hadn”t noticed that before, but she was glad for it now. The biker stopped and she and Chiefy continued up to their new home. The only thing that made her stomach twist, was that her little bungalows didn”t have security on them. They would be there like sitting ducks. Hopefully their party at the Sandbar tonight would get them the signatures they needed to ask the council to take action.

To date, the bikers had damaged several businesses, continued to harass or stalk Sid, her, and she”d also heard they were doing the same thing to the gas station owner, Bodie. But, to everyone”s credit, people weren”t exactly caving to the pressure. They carried on with their business and repaired the damage. In one instance the same insurance company was involved for two separate businesses. There was talk that the insurance company might start looking into the bikers. But in actuality, they”d likely not do anything.

At the top of Bluff Road, Grace pulled to a stop in the space she”d been parking in since they”d begun to move things into the house. Chiefy whined in excited anticipation and Grace chuckled. ”I”ll hurry.”

She opened Chiefy”s door and her pup ran to her favorite spot to pee, then to the front door as Grace grabbed her supplies and carried them to the house.

Using the key Sid had given her, she unlocked the door and pushed it open with her butt as Chiefy burst through and excitedly ran to her spot in the kitchen where one of her beds laid. Yes, she had three beds in this house. She was a spoiled girl.
