O verview:
Date: June 24th
Initial Target: Lawton, Oklahoma
Left Norman, Oklahoma at 12:30 and returned at 20:15
Intercepts: 2 Tornadoes. Tornado 1, several miles south of Temple, Oklahoma. Already in progress as a strong stovepipe when we arrived at 15:52. We positioned downstream of the tornado. Inflow winds and positive CTG lightning should have alerted us to a new tornado forming nearly overhead—instead alerted by Annie. Tornado 2 formed as a multi-vortex wedge while tornado 1 became fully occluded before dissipating. Once out of the path, we were able to safely observe Tornado 2 for several minutes. We tracked it until the road network made keeping up a challenge. Tried to intercept another cell but chose the wrong target and missed out.
