Chapter 4

CHAPTER FOUR

STORM

“You should come, I’ve heard great things about them,” Linc says enthusiastically as he strums his guitar. He’s always been into music, playing in his band with his friends.

“Sure, we will come.” I nod and look at Zeke.

Zeke blinks. “Er, yeah. If I’m not on shift,” he agrees.

I grin back at Linc, just as Drix walks over, straddling the log around the fire pit as he sits next to me. “What band are we seeing?” he asks, snatching my drink from me and knocking back the last of it.

“Hey!” I protest, thumping his thigh. He just winks and gives me a playful smile.

“High Fade, they’re a Scottish band. Freaking incredible. Funk rock,” Linc says enthusiastically.

Drix nods. “Sounds good, I will be there. We all should go. It’s been a while since we’ve all been out.”

Linc grins. “It’s why I brought all of us tickets. Even got one for you Zit.”

“It’s Zeke,” Zeke corrects.

“Right.” Linc shrugs.

Zeke huffs and eats some of his brisket before placing his plate down. “Right, we need to get back. Work tomorrow,” he declares, his gaze telling me he’s done.

I nod and place my plate down before standing. “He’s right. He’s got an eight am surgery tomorrow.”

“It’s nine pm,” Enzo mutters.

I give him a tight grin. “Okay, so we will see you Saturday for High Fade,” I state cheerily, deflecting the conversation from getting awkward.

Zeke takes my hand and leads me through to the clubhouse. I look for my parents, and when I’m unable to find them, I stop. “Scar, can you let Mom and Dad know we’ve left, and that I will be home after shift tomorrow? I’m staying at Zeke’s place tonight.”

“Sure thing.” He leans down and places a kiss on the top of my head.

“Drive safe,” he warns before turning his attention to Zeke.

“Good to meet you. Get her home safely, or I will kill you,” he says, his face turning from soft to deadly serious.

Zeke’s eyes widen as he swallows anxiously.

Scar’s lips twitch before he bursts out laughing. “I’m fucking joking!” he roars.

Zeke lets out a nervous laugh.

Scar claps his hand down on Zeke’s shoulder, squeezing it tight. The laughter and smile disappears on his face. “Or am I?” A moment of silence passes, and Scar steps back, grinning. “Catch you kids later!” he yells over his shoulder as he walks away.

Zeke swallows. I give his hand a little squeeze. “You okay?” I ask softly.

He blinks, clearing his throat. “Yeah, of course. Let’s get home,” he says before leading us out to our cars.

I rush around the bedroom, looking for my favourite top.

It’s just a black lace halter top, but it’s a hot night, and with my cut-off denim shorts, it’s great for keeping cool at concerts.

It’s a little sexy, too. As I throw pieces of clothes out of my wardrobe, desperately hunting, my cell pings with a message.

H: How are you getting to the concert?

I quickly type my reply.

S: I think Zeke is driving us. Do you want a ride?

H: Fuck no. None of us are driving in, so we can drink. I managed to persuade my mom to drop us. You want picking up?

I nibble on my bottom lip, smiling to myself. It will do Zeke good to have a drink and let his hair down.

S: That would be great!

H: We will be there in ten minutes.

S: Shit! I’m not dressed yet.

H: Are you naked texting me right now?

I smirk and roll my eyes.

H: Even if I was, I wouldn’t tell you. See you in a bit.

“Zeke, be ready to leave in ten minutes. Aunt Maggie and Drix are picking us up, so you can have a drink and relax,” I yell into the hall. I continue my hunt and finally find the top I was looking for. “Yes!” I grin, putting it on just as Zeke walks into the bedroom.

“I was going to drive us in,” he states.

“I know, but this way you get to enjoy yourself and have a couple of beers. You’re not on call.” I shrug as I grab my chunky Dr. Martin boots and start lacing them up.

“You’re wearing that?” Zeke asks, his brow arching up as his eyes roam over me. I stand and look at myself in the full-length mirror.

My long dark hair is loose over one shoulder, the shorts hug my behind, and they expose the tattoos on my legs. My top hugs my breasts and reveals the top half of my back. I kept my makeup light, with just my winged eyeliner, mascara, and a bit of lip gloss. I think I look cool.

I look back to him. “It’s a concert,” I state, shrugging.

Looking up and down at him, I notice he’s dressed in his jeans and a fitted green patterned T-shirt.

I hated that shirt, but I would never tell him that.

“I like what I’m wearing. I will be comfortable, cool, and I think I look sexy.

” I say the last part with a wink as I slowly approach him seductively, swaying my hips.

His eyes roam over me before I stop just in front of him.

I lean up, my breath dancing across his lips.

“Do you not think I look sexy?” I whisper.

He swallows, the nerve in his jaw clicking. “You know I think you are the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on.”

My heart swells as I press my mouth to his, kissing him softly.

A loud honk of a horn breaks the moment, and I step back.

“Come on, Doctor. Let’s have some fun.” I grab my phone and take Zeke by the hand, leading him outside.

I grin when the song Poison plays loud out of the truck’s windows.

Maggie is sitting in the driver’s seat, and my mom is in the passenger seat.

“Mom?!” I laugh as she and Maggie dance and laugh.

She grins. “Hey, baby, we left the men at home. Get in,” she orders.

I grin. The truck door opens, and Drix steps out, looking every bit the hot biker. Tattoos are covering his arms, and his black fitted T-shirt is stretched across his broad chest.

He smiles. “My lady, your chariot awaits,” he says with a mock bow.

I laugh and shake my head. “Why, thank you, kind sir.” I end it with a curtsey.

Zeke grunts behind me. Drix looks over at him, his smile falling instantly. “Shit, I didn’t think about there being enough seats.” He pauses for a minute.

“Come the fuck on!” Enzo protests from the back seat of the truck.

“Shut the fuck up, Enzo,” I snap, while flipping him off.

“Got it! Zeke, you hop in the back with Enzo, have a good catch-up. Storm and I will sit in the back on the flat bed. It’s not too far, and it’s a hot night.” Hendrix grins.

“Sure.” I shrug, placing a kiss on Zeke’s cheek and following Drix to the back of the truck.

Before I have time to register, his hands are on my hips, lifting me into the back of the truck.

I screech, gripping his shoulders. He lets out a soft laugh as he stands there for a moment, his hands still on my hips, and my hands still resting on his shoulders.

The atmosphere shifts, turning intense. His thumb strokes my exposed bare skin at my side, causing me to shudder.

The sudden realisation that Drix is nestled between my legs, his hands on me, my hands on him, is like having an ice-cold bucket of water thrown over me.

I shift back, removing my hands from him, pushing myself to the back of the truck.

Drix jumps up with ease and sits beside me, tapping on the roof to let Maggie know we are good to go.

The truck pulls off, and I jolt, my hand grabbing for Drix. We look at each other. “Sorry.”

“You never have to apologise for touching me,” he answers with sincerity.

I sigh and rest my head on his shoulder. “That’s just because you want me to touch your junk, and eww, that will not be happening, perv,” I tease, trying to ease the tension.

He chuckles. “You got me there.”

“Typical man, always goes back to their dick. Why are you all so obsessed with it?” I ask, rambling.

“We are not obsessed with it. It just brings us joy.” He snorts.

“Well, I mean, at least someone is getting some joy,” I huff, before quickly slapping my hand over my mouth, realising what I had just said.

Drix shifts so he can look at me. “Does the doc not give you pleasure?” he asks in stunned surprise.

I groan. “I’m not discussing this with you.”

“Oh, come on, this is me. Not some stranger,” he urges, his blue eyes searing into mine.

I shift awkwardly under his gaze, tucking my hair behind my ear. “I’m not going to talk about this with you. It’s weird, and my sex life is none of your business,” I reply, shutting him down.

“You ever want it to be, you let me know,” he says, his voice a low rumble.

My gaze flickers to his. The heat and the promise I see there makes my stomach coil.

My gaze flickers to his mouth, just as the truck comes to a stop, breaking the moment.

I blink and look away, wondering what the hell is wrong with me, looking at Hendrix like that.

He jumps down from the back of the truck, standing there, his arms outstretched, ready to help me off the back of the truck.

I pause for a moment before leaning down.

His hands clasp me firmly around my waist, and he lifts me, slowly lowering me down, holding me purposefully close, my body gliding against his.

His eyes never leave mine; even with my feet firmly on the ground, he doesn’t let go of his hold on me.

My heart is thumping hard in my chest, and my mind is a whirlwind of confusing thoughts and emotions.

“Hendrix, step back from my sister, and let’s go,” Enzo mutters as he walks over.

Drix smirks and steps back, giving me a playful wink. Enzo roughly grabs the back of Hendrix’s neck, giving it a squeeze. “Playing with fire,” he says warningly.

I turn back around to see Zeke walking towards me, a smile on his face. I sigh with relief that he didn’t witness anything. Not that there was anything. Just Drix being Drix—a flirt—and I was just like every other girl falling for his biker charm and good looks.

“What’s got you smiling?” I ask as he drapes his arm over my shoulders.

“Your brother gave me a couple of shots of his home brew,” he breathes. I blanch and laugh, smelling the strong alcohol on his breath.
