PROLOGUE - GRACE

“Do you come here often?” a deep voice breathes in my ear.

Goosebumps scatter up and down my arms even though I giggle and roll my eyes. I’m surprised I can hear him, given how loud the bass is at the party.

“That’s the corniest line I’ve ever heard in my life,” I tease as I turn around and stare into the most breathtaking blue eyes.

My breath catches, and my body practically melts.

Holy Hell, I wasn’t expecting to fall into those, or to feel like the entire world has shifted.

“Theo Rossi,” he says as he sticks his hand out to me. “I’m sorry it’s corny; I don’t normally approach a beautiful woman like this, so I’m out of my element here.”

“I bet you say that to all the girls,” I laugh. “Grace Simmons.”

“I’m well aware of who you are. I wasn’t expecting you to be even more beautiful outside of what I see in the magazines. The camera doesn’t capture that beautiful aura you carry around.”

Whoa, a man who says something positive about me that has nothing to do with my looks.

He doesn’t call me hot, doesn’t call me sexy, doesn’t talk about my butt or my boobs. I’m not used to this.

I stare back at him in shock, not really knowing how to respond.

He closes his eyes and shakes his head. “I’m not sure where that came from,” he chuckles. “I’m putting my foot in my mouth and coming off super creepy.”

He turns on his heel and starts away. I grab his hand.

What am I doing?

“You’re not being creepy in the slightest. Why were you asking?”

He tips his head to the side in a gesture for me to follow. He reaches back and takes my hand in his, lacing his fingers with mine. His touch is electric and warmth floods through me.

How can a touch make me feel safe?

He leads us upstairs, into a bedroom, and out onto a gorgeous terrace overlooking the city skyline. All I can see is that breathtaking view.

“Wow,” I breathe. “The owner is so lucky to wake up to this and go to sleep with this every night.”

“He’d be even luckier to have those same things with the view I’m getting right now.”

I turn around and smile sheepishly back at him. He’s leaning against the wall, one hand in his pocket with a leg propped up on the wall.

He’s breathtakingly handsome with his sexy pose. I can see why he’s such a Hollywood heartthrob with the little bit of a James Dean vibe he gives off. He moves the lock of hair out in front of his eyes and gazes back at me.

I roll my eyes playfully as I bite my bottom lip before turning around to look at the view again.

He knows that I’m eating right out of his hand.

“You have all the right things to say, don’t you?”

“It seems to come easy with you.”

“Whose house is this anyway? I want to compliment this view or see if I can rent a room.”

“You can stay here as long as you like,” he says.

I turn around and watch him push off the wall and walk toward me.

“Oh, so you just take the liberty of offering up strangers' homes to other strangers.”

“This is my home,” he chuckles.

My face drops as I realize this man just walked me straight into his bedroom and I followed like a sheep.

I’m always so careful. How did I let this happen?

I suck in a low breath as my eyes dart around for an exit that he’s not blocking. He holds his hands up quickly.

“Oh crap, I’m so sorry. I didn’t think about how this would look. Damn.” He scrubs a hand across his face, his voice shaky. “I must have the brain of a caveman.

I just wanted to show you the coolest part of the house, and we literally just met. I wasn’t thinking.”

His eyes dart away before he groans. “I mean, I realize now that I basically dragged you to my bedroom. You probably think…”

He’s an actor, but he can’t fake the embarrassment and panic that’s on his face right now.

I don’t know why, but I believe this was a total accident.

“It’s okay,” I breathe.

Honestly, if he was going to kill me or just lure me here for sex, he wouldn’t have been standing across the room. Right?

Or is that logic how serial killers murder all victims?

His bright blue eyes flit to mine. And he smiles sadly back at me.

“I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable or make you think that I brought you here so that I can take advantage of you.”

“Well, I guess your reputation proceeds you. I’ve only ever heard that you’re a complete gentleman, and I choose to believe that.”

Don’t make me regret it, please.

“I’m harmless, just a buffoon sometimes,” he shrugs with a dry chuckle. “Would you like to go back out on the balcony and talk? I can have someone bring us drinks.”

“That would be lovely,” I say before I go back out to the terrace.

He’s a famous actor. He can’t be a serial killer, right?

He has a lovely set-up with a small seating area around a fire pit. I sit down, and he does the same after texting something on his phone.

Theo and I sit out on the terrace admiring the view and talking about everything for hours. He’s so easy to talk to, so kind and caring, and so down to earth. It’s not at all what I expected.

When the sun starts to rise, I don’t know what to say. I’ve never gotten lost in talking to someone like this before. It’s nice.

“I guess I should get going,” I say hesitantly as I start to stand. “I didn’t realize it was so late.”

“Do you have somewhere that you need to be?”

“No, I just…don’t want to overstay my welcome.”

“You’re not,” he answers as he quickly moves toward me. “It may sound crazy, but I don’t want you to go.”

“It doesn’t sound crazy.”

“Can I kiss you?”

I suck in a breath, but I also nod, just as he leans forward and brushes his lips gently across mine. There’s something so sweet about it and my stomach flips. My arms wrap around his neck as he pulls me into him.

Our kiss deepens, becoming more passionate and urgent. I feel a spark igniting between us as he pulls me closer, his hands running through my hair.

When we finally pull apart, I rest my forehead against his, trying to catch my breath. Theo smiles down at me, his eyes searching mine for any sign of hesitation. But all I can see in those mesmerizing blue eyes is warmth and sincerity.

“Stay,” he whispers.

With a smile playing, I nod in agreement. His face lights up as he takes my hand in his. I tug him into me and then reach up on my tiptoes to kiss him.

I want more.

Theo picks me up as we kiss hungrily, our hands roaming all over the other's body, begging for more. He carries me into the bedroom, setting me down in front of the bed. He’s hesitant to take control, and I understand why.

I want this.

My hands slide down to his pants. I slowly unbutton them as I keep my eyes locked with his, feeling the tension building between us.

He sucks in a breath when I pull his hard shaft out, wrapping my fingers around it as I smile wickedly back at him. I lean forward and kiss him again, stroking him as I do.

He grabs the back of my head and deepens the kiss, his hands move to unzip my dress before it falls to the floor, pooling at my feet. His mouth moves to kiss my neck, then down to my breasts.

I moan as he takes one of my nipples in his mouth, gently biting and sucking. My hands clutch the sheets as his other hand continues to work between my legs, bringing me to a state of pure bliss.

I arch my back and push myself further into his hands, needing him to touch me more. His fingers slide into me easily, and I whimper as he sucks and bites my neck. I'm so turned on, so wet.

“I want you inside me,” I pant.

He picks me up again, this time carrying me to the bed. He lays me down gently and starts kissing his way down my body, his fingers continuing to work their magic.

I grip the sheets, arching my back and moaning his name. He's driving me wild, and I can't wait for him to be inside me.

I feel a shiver run through me as he parts my legs, running his tongue up and down my inner thighs, teasing me before he finally takes me into his mouth.

I cry out his name as he flicks his tongue against my clit, sending waves of desire coursing through my body.

I can't take it anymore; I need him inside me now.

“Theo, please,” I beg him.

He looks up at me, with a wicked grin on his face before he stands up, pulling off his clothes. His hard body sends a shiver of anticipation through me as he positions himself over me. He enters me, his thick cock stretching and filling me.

I whimper in pleasure as he starts to move, his hips rocking rhythmically. He's inside me, filling me up completely. I grab onto him, my nails digging into his skin as I try to pull him closer.

"Yes, Theo," I moan.

He picks up speed, his thrusts becoming deeper and harder with each passing second. I close my eyes, lost in the moment, lost in him. His hands hold onto my hips as he moves in and out of me, driving me wild.

"I'm going to come," I gasp, my body tense with anticipation.

"Come for me," he growls, his voice deep and sexily dangerous.

I do just that, my orgasm crashing over me like a tidal wave. My body shakes violently as waves of pleasure wash over me.

He groans, his eyes locked on mine as he pumps faster and harder.

“I don’t want to come yet, but I don’t know if I can hold out.”

“Come with me,” I gasp. “Please.”

He lets out a primal growl, the sensation ripping through me. Combined with his erratic movements, it pushes me over the edge, and I tumble right into ecstasy before he groans and follows me.

“Fuck,” he groans as he collapses on top of me.

I smile as I giggle softly when he wraps his arms around me and clutches me to him.

“You’re like a nice warm blanket,” I say dreamily.

He rolls off to the side and tucks me into him.

“I hope you don’t have anywhere to go, because I’m not sure that I want to let you go.”

“I’m okay with that,” I breathe. “Is there anyone else here?”

“No, there shouldn’t be.”

“I need coffee and food,” I smile as I roll out of the bed and walk out of the room.

He jumps up to follow.

“I can get used to seeing you walking naked around my house.”

“Oh yeah?” I tease.

He smacks my butt as he hurries in front of me and down the steps. I burst out laughing as he heads to the kitchen, shaking my head in disbelief at just how perfect this night has been so far.

“Spend the day with me.”

“We’ll see,” I tease as he begins making coffee.

We can’t keep our hands off each other, so we kiss and touch as much as possible. We spend the day lost in each other's arms, talking, teasing, kissing, and touching every chance we get.

It’s like a fairy tale that I hope never ends. I’ve never connected this way with anyone before.

On Sunday night, we’re sitting on the couch, snuggled against each other, when the front door opens, and a dark-headed woman strolls into the house.

“Theo?” she calls out. “That place was a bust; can I stay here again?”

He stiffens before he looks down at me quickly. “I helped out a friend of a friend and she doesn’t want to leave. I’ll be right back.”

He stands just as the woman comes into the room. Her face drops, and tears fill her eyes as she glares at Theo and me.

I would have seen somewhere that he’s dating someone, right?

“Who is this bitch?” she sneers.

“How did you get in?”

“The key. I live here, remember? Or did you forget you had a girlfriend while you were no doubt fucking this whore.”

“Girlfriend?” Theo and I gasp at the same time.

“You’re not my girlfriend,” Theo growls. “Knock it off, Alexia. I told you that I wasn’t interested and that this couldn’t be anything.”

“Bull shit,” she hisses as she gets up in his face. “Tell the bitch to leave my house.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know,” I say quickly as I jump off the couch.

I sprint up the stairs to get my things.

“Grace, no!” Theo calls out as he rushes after me.

Meanwhile, his girlfriend is screaming obscenities at both of us. I don’t even bother to change out of the clothes he let me borrow, so I grab my dress and purse.

Theo grabs my wrist and tries to get me to look at him.

“I thought she was a friend of a friend and allowed her to stay here. She tricked me into giving her a place to stay. She developed a crush on me and has become possessive and a little crazy. There’s nothing between us. I kicked her out of my house and changed the locks…”

If he changed the locks, how did she get in?

“I’m pregnant with your baby, and this…this is what you do to me?” Alexia gasps as she starts crying. “I just want to love you; why do you treat me like this? After you hit me the last time…”

Hit her? I can’t do this. I’ve been down this road before, and I can’t ever go back there.

“Alexia, stop lying,” he growls. “Grace, please.”

His eyes are so sincere that I want to believe him, but I can’t. I shake my head, fight back the tears, and push past him.

“Grace, please believe me. Please.”

“ Don’t believe him,” the woman cackles behind me. “He pulls this all the time.”

I’m out the door before the tears spill down my cheeks. I fumble for my keys and race to my car.

I fell for a guy over a matter of hours, and he’s got a girlfriend that lives with him. That’s just great. It’s my own fault for falling so fast.
