119. Tartarus
Tartarus
There were only two realms
to the Underworld.
Where the mortals went,
and where the immortals went.
But where the immortals went
was not just a place, but also a God.
What else could keep the divine
clenched between its teeth?
A cage would never hold us,
we would find a way out of it.
But Tartarus, the son of Chaos,
brother of Gaia, Eros, Erebus, and Nyx,
was both the cage and the weapon,
like a terrible womb filled with
a thousand immortal lives,
a burning inferno that captured forever.
We walked into the mouth of the cave
and within moments, we heard a roar.
‘Children of Titans.
You are not welcome here.’
