Chapter Twenty-One

Ches

I woke up starving, but Grant was already on the job. He’d ordered breakfast at the break of dawn. We’d made love through the rest of the afternoon and into the night and missed a few meals.

Totally worth it.

I groaned and climbed out of bed, padded in to the living area. Instinctively, I reached for the mark on my shoulder and let my fingers brush over it. It was sensitive and sore, but I would take it in exchange for my unbreakable bond with Grant.

“Morning again,” Grant said, wheeling a cart into the suite, wearing only boxers, only to leave and come back with a second one. They were filled with every breakfast offering imaginable and some I’d never heard of. He peppered my face with kisses.

“Good morning.”

He pulled back. “I wanted to tell you something, but it got lost in last night.”

“What?” My heart missed a beat but I knew it was nothing bad. I could feel him now. The bond was so strong between us in such a short time. My wolf howled inside me, wanting to hear what his mate wanted to say.

“I love you, Ches. I mean it. I love you.”

I pulled him down for a kiss. “I love you too, Grant.”

“Do you?” he asked, beaming at me. I would’ve done all kinds of things to make him smile like that at least once a day.

“Yes, alpha. I do. Can we eat now?”

He laughed and set the meal up at the table. We ate like starving men.

“What happens now?” I asked once my belly was full. There were so many ideas and changes floating around in my head, but I knew it was only the beginning of what was to come.

Grant wanted me to work with him—beside him. He valued my ideas and thoughts. He jotted things into his notes app on his phone whenever I had a notion.

He treated me as an equal, even though we came from two different worlds. And at the same time, cared for me like an alpha should for his omega. Like I’d always dreamed of.

“That’s up to you, mate.”

I sat back and poured myself a second coffee. After last night, I would need at least a third cup. “What do you mean?”

“Well, we could stay here some more. Explore the clubs and do more research.” His smile told me his research would be more fun than business.

“Or, we could go back to the resort and begin renovations and changing everything there. Or I could take you to a deserted island and spend a month there. An extended honeymoon. Whatever you want. I’ve been moving and planning and busy with business for months. ”

“Can we take a few days and think about it?” I felt a bit of heaviness with the decisions on my shoulders. Sweet mate of mine would do anything I wanted, but we also had business to attend to.

Staying in bed with him for the near future sounded best.

“Of course. I can think of a few things we could do to pass the time.”

That tone. I loved his sexy voice. “Oh? Like what?”

He stood up. “Like get my omega into the shower and then back to bed for the rest of the day. Explore some ideas of my own.”

We spent the day in bed. It felt luxurious and lavish, resting and making love with no end in sight.

By the end of the day, I’d made my decision. Rolling over, I saw Grant taking a quick nap and didn’t want to disturb him. He was so beautiful and handsome, but all of that was enhanced by who he was.

He made all my walls come crashing down. I trusted him like I’d never trusted anyone.

My wolf did too.

“That feels nice,” he said, rubbing a fist into his chest. “I can feel your love through the bond, omega. It’s so strong.”

I could feel his love as well, pulsing in my chest, like a second heartbeat.

“I think we should get to work at the other resort.”

That got his attention. He sat up against the headboard and I did as well. I hoped all our future business meetings were like this. Naked. In bed.

“Is that what you want?”

I nodded. “Yes. I do. That place needs an overhaul. Yes, on the business side, but also the way HR handled or mishandled my complaint. How many other omegas have been abused and brushed aside? How can we make things safer for the omegas that work there?”

“Okay. We can do that. I love how passionate you are about helping people. Never lose that. How about we stay a few more days here and return after the final papers are signed. We can stay in the villa until things get underway then build a house at the edge of the property. What do you think?”

“I think that’s wonderful. Close enough in case there is an emergency but far enough to give us privacy. But I don’t need anything fancy. I’d stay in a cardboard box with you.”

“We’ll see. I do love to spoil you rotten.”
