Chapter 5

Floyd

The entire time I am swimming toward Murphy's rental cabin, my heart hammers beneath my ribs.

Ever since I somehow finagled my way into this curvy beauty's life, I've been feeling like a teenage boy with a massive crush on the new girl at school.

And when I reach the shoreline, seeing her standing on the back deck, her powder blue sundress blowing in the breeze, does not help my heart rate.

I shift in the shallows of the lake before walking onto the shore.

Lexi smiles and gives me a wave, a cell phone to her ear.

When I get to the edge of the deck, I say, "Hey. Sorry. Are you busy? I can come back later."

"No. Not at all, but my friend is demanding a photo since you're going to be playing the part of my boyfriend."

Lexi's pale cheeks redden at the words, and I can't help but grin.

"That makes sense. She sounds like an excellent friend."

Relief washes over her beautiful face, and I realize she has adorable freckles decorating her nose and cheeks.

I step back, grinning up at her as she lifts her cell, taking a quick snapshot, and quickly appears to send it to her friend.

Seconds later, I hear her friend loudly exclaim something on the other end of the line, and I watch the voluptuous knockout burst into melodious laughter, her cheeks now blazing red.

"Alright, Elinda. I've got to go. I'll text you later," Lexi says, then she raises a wineglass in her hand. She gestures toward it. "Would you like any?"

"No thanks. Wine makes me sleepy, and I still have a few things to get done when I go home," I say, gesturing towards the deck steps. "But is it okay if I join you up there?"

"Oh, yeah. Of course. Sorry. Where are my manners?"

Before sitting, I offer her my hand and say, "I realize we sort of met in a whirlwind, so I thought I would make it official. Floyd McAlpin at your service," I say, grinning down at her, quickly losing myself in her dark brown eyes.

"Lexi Hodges," she says with a soft laugh.

She grips my hand in a firm handshake, causing my breath to catch in the back of my throat.

Her touch sends a delicious warmth of energy through my arm that spreads into my chest before traveling down to my toes.

I watch her dark eyes widen in surprise as she slowly lowers her hand. Did she feel something as well?

Feeling my cheeks burn, I sit down across from her. She clears her throat, smooths down the skirt of her dress, and takes a quick sip of her white wine. A soft, nervous laugh escapes her lips, and she shakes her head with a sheepish grin at me.

"This whole thing is so crazy," she says.

"A helpful-crazy I hope?"

"A very helpful-crazy. I can't believe my luck that you came to my rescue, to be honest," she says, looking at me sincerely.

"What's the plan? I'm here to help," I say, clapping my hands together.

"Well, tomorrow night is the rehearsal dinner, and I'm thankfully not in the wedding party. But since I'm an out-of-town family member, I'm expected to attend. So that means we basically just have the early part of tomorrow to get to know each other a bit better, I guess."

"I think that's a good idea. We don't want to come off as strangers to good ol' Aunt Gertrude," I say, making her laugh.

"Looks to me like you've got my great aunt's number already," Lexi says, shaking her head.

"I'm sure it comes from a place of love, whatever she's throwing at you," I say, wrinkling my nose, and she bursts out laughing.

"Yeah. You're probably right."

"Well, then, how about we meet for breakfast? Summit Burgers, across from the market where we met, has good food. Shall we meet there in the morning?"

"That sounds perfect," Lexi says.

"Alright. It's a date," I say, feeling my cheeks heat again as I stand.

"How about we meet at eight?"

"Okay. Sounds like a deal."

We share an awkward goodbye before I walk back to the lake. Right as I get my feet wet, I hear her call out, "I forgot to ask. Are you an actual merman shifter?"

Lexi's hopeful tone tells me that she hopes my answer is yes.

"I sure am!" I say, grinning back at her before rushing into the water, then diving in.

When I shift below the surface, my tail breaks the surface, flukes catching the air. I follow it up by poking my head up and catching sight of the curvy beauty grinning and waving at me. I give her a quick wave and head home.

Before bed, I hop into the shower to wash away the day. My body has been nonstop vibrating ever since sharing that electric handshake with Lexi earlier. There's no way I will be able to fall asleep feeling like this.

Soaping up my hands, I begin to stroke my cock, closing my eyes and lifting my face into the warm water. Immediately, I picture my fake girlfriend in her powder blue dress that hugged her curves in all the right places.

I picture her grabbing my wet t-shirt as I step onto the deck, bringing me in for a delicious kiss as my hands travel down her entire body. She steps back, reaching into the top of her dress and taking out her large breasts, her pink nipples hardening before my eyes.

I hungrily grab at them, leaning down and sucking each nipple into my mouth as my tongue swirls around it. Lexi's moans are music to my ears, and my free hand slides beneath her dress, slipping into her panties, finding her wet and ready for me.

In the shower, my strokes speed up as I imagine what she would sound like as I finger-fucked her, licking her tits as I do. The image of her losing control and coming on my hand sends me over the edge, and I climax with a groan that echoes against the tile walls.

My seed spills into the water below, swirling around the drain as I attempt to catch my breath, barely balancing myself against the wall with my free hand.

Shit. I'm in for it these next few days.
