Chapter Twelve
Theo
Rolling over in bed, Theo slipped out from under Mitch’s arm only to run into Alek’s hard chest. Even though Dario had the bed custom made to fit five grown men, the fit was still tight.
Instead of climbing over Dario then Wylder, which would probably wake both of them, Theo wiggled down the mattress instead. He fell off the mattress with a thump.
Theo froze to see if the sound he made woke anyone else up.
When no one called out for him, Theo began to crawl toward the door. He wasn’t trying to be sneaky. There was just so much on his mind and Theo couldn’t sleep. Quietly pushing the door open, Theo continued into the hall and closed the door behind him.
He climbed to his knees then up onto his feet.
The quiet of the house was soothing. Theo scented cleaning products, so Aurelia had obviously been cleaning to her little heart’s content. He didn’t want to bother his little creature so he headed directly to his room.
They were the chosen now.
Alek’s fathers would be there to guide them when they could but the responsibilities of keeping the supernatural and human realms safe fell onto their shoulders.
Theo, the foster boy that no one had wanted, the boy that had never fit in. Theo was one of five chosen creatures that were given this great task.
When it came down to looking into his own heart, Theo had questioned himself.
Loving and wanting his mates, there was no question about that. However, Theo could have walked away from being chosen. He hadn’t even asked what would happen if he hadn’t accepted his destiny. The fates had chosen him for a reason.
Through all the doubt, fear, and trauma of the last couple months, one thing was cemented in Theo’s mind.
Destiny brought him his mates.
Theo would be an advocate for the creatures around the realms that needed someone to stand up for them. The brownies, trolls, shifters, demons, and everyone like Theo.
His first formal ceremony with the seelie court would be soon.
Theo felt like meeting his mates had been the beginning of everything.
Learning who he was, what was inside him, and accepting all of it was the middle.
The calm before the storm. Now that Theo had accepted his destiny, the real work would begin.
Reaching his bedroom, Theo entered his special space. He loved sharing the big bed with his mates, but this room was all his. Surrounded by his soft comfort items, Theo knew that he was finally home.
Theo headed straight for his little desk that was positioned in front of the large picture window. He pulled the curtains open. Darkness greeted him but the stars twinkled in the sky above. Lowering his gaze, the gardens were spread out in front of him.
Yes, this was his home, his family, his destiny.
Pulling out the chair for the desk, Theo sat and reached for the empty journals that Tate had gifted him. The pen he picked up felt heavy in his hand. Important.
The blank first page of the journal awaited him.
And Theo knew exactly where he wanted to start. At the beginning. His beginning. The moment when destiny and fate had collided to bring Theo into this crazy whirlwind of a life.
He needed to share his story with the chosen that came after him. Hellcats! Theo had one hell of a story to tell.
Pressing the tip of the pen to the paper, Theo smiled.
“Curiosity killed the cat.”
To Be Continued.
