Chapter 13 Daisy
Daisy
In the end, I had coffee in the lodge’s café with Ash. We spoke for hours as he took an extended break from his tree surgery. But he soon had to return to his duties per Frost’s orders—those trees aren’t going to prune themselves, after all.
We agreed to be friends, for now. And just see how things go…
Somewhere in the back of my mind, a voice tells me that trusting that Alpha is a big mistake. But then I recall how he stood up for me. He even confronted his own brother after he mistreated me.
Pure, angry Alpha energy radiated from Ash with the power of a thousand suns, and my Omega was deeply impressed.
However, I know deep down that mere friendship couldn’t work long term, least of all with just one member of Pack Thorn. My Omega would want all three Alphas, eventually. All three brothers.
They are a package deal.
In the end, I rented a beautiful cabin at the Wynter Lodge for an entire week, just as I promised myself the moment I set off this morning.
Anything to get my mind into the right headspace.
Unfortunately, I have a certain trio of Alphas on my mind, and it’s only a matter of time until I bump into Briar at this rate.
Two out of three already… It’s bound to happen.
Now I haul my wheeled suitcase into the cabin, dropping it and my duffle bag down by the door. I haven’t even unpacked since I got back to Silverpine, so it didn’t even take me long to get my stuff together when I left this morning.
When my eyes dart around the beautiful, rustic lodge, the one with its sweet, warm, woody interior, I can barely contain myself. I squeal, jumping on the spot, then I rush around my new abode as I have a good nose.
There’s a huge flat screen TV in the living area with its comfy couches, but I have no need for it just yet: my imagination should suffice, for now, as I escape into my writing, typing away at my laptop.
However, when I open the mini fridge, spying the complimentary drinks inside, I laugh.
This place is the best.
I move straight to the bedroom now. No more distractions. I came here to write.
The windows overlook the beautiful mountains in the distance, and I just sit on the queen bed for a while, staring at that majestic structure.
True paradise. My apartment certainly doesn’t have this kind of view.
Anything is possible out there. An adventure awaits me…Just like the one that awaits me the moment I flip open my laptop.
I finally get to work, pulling my laptop out of its bag as I place it down onto the desk that sits snugly inside the bay window: I want to be able to look at that mountain the whole time I’m writing.
But the moment I open my manuscript… nothing. I just stare at the blank page for ages, my cursor blinking and waiting for me to start.
I’m sure the words will come.
However, a few cat videos later, I still haven’t typed a word. Not to worry, though. I’m sure inspiration will strike at any moment.
Perhaps if I just stare at that mountain again, then maybe inspiration will just fly up at me unawares, taking me by surprise.
That’s always the best when that happens.
Yet I can’t stop thinking about Ash or his sparkling, mint-green eyes. The way he had protected my honor… the way his muscles bulged….
It was the hottest thing anyone had ever done for me.
Now all I can think about is Ash’s big biceps. The Alpha is a true enigma. So much raw power, but he has a gentle nature. He is kind to animals, and he loves trees.
My fingers move over the keyboard now.
Finally.
Now, I write about an Alpha who cuts down trees but befriends all the local wildlife. Just one scene. Nothing more.
I don’t get much beyond that, though, but it’s a start.
Maybe I should play some music. I get up and find the radio in the living room, then start dancing away.
Anyone walking past would think I was a distressed cat. The caterwauling escaping my pipes is something else, but I promised myself that I would let go this week.
And that is what I plan to do.
Once I have a reasonable amount of blood rushing to my head, I return to the laptop, writing more words.
The story is flowing; it’s getting to the good part now. The Omega just arrived, after all.
The Alpha pushes her flush against the hard trunk of a tree, grazing her jawline ever so slightly with that callused thumb.
It’s callused from wielding axes for so long…
And it’s a stark contrast with her soft, milky skin.
Yes.
Don’t stop, Daisy.
He reaches his large hand down to her pink floral skirt, lifting it up over her thigh, and that’s when his rough fingers find her sex.
And then, he brushes them over her…
The lightbulb flickers above me, and I stop, gazing up at the light fixture. Shit… What if this place is haunted, and it’s a poltergeist trying to get my attention?
That could be the hook for another story…
Yet the lightbulb keeps flickering until it completely goes out. Now I am left in total darkness.
Fuck.
Not to worry, Daisy. Ghosts aren’t real.
I could always call the front desk. I’m sure Noelle would be happy to send out maintenance to fix the bulb.
There are other rooms to write in the cabin, ones with working bulbs, but I already found my happy place here.
It’s settled. I am calling maintenance. My story was just getting to the good part, after all.
I locate the phone, explaining the situation. “We will send someone out right away, Ms. Rose,” the Alpha on the other end of the line reassures me.
It’s not Frost, so I’m guessing that it’s possibly Robin or Shepard. I haven’t seen either in over ten years, so I can’t place the voice.
When I put the phone down, I sit on the couch and just wait for a while. I even put on a little TV.
Hopefully, help will soon arrive.
