Chapter 15

Chapter fifteen

Mu’ol

The castle, as Nora called it, was a fortress that was too strong for humans to do real damage, but the human weapons still made the building shudder.

“Why the hell are they attacking?” I asked.

It was ridiculous, really. They knew our ships circled the planet, knew that we had advanced weapons. Why do something like this?

“The Vul,” On’nas said. He glanced at Nora. “Did the general act like himself?”

Nora tilted her head, frowning. “I don’t know. He was so concerned with Mu’ol’s nudity that it was difficult to gauge. Do you think that there are Vul inside the human army, giving these orders?” She winced as another round of artillery hit the wall beside us.

“It’s the only thing that makes sense,” On’nas said.

“There’s no other reason for them to come at us when we were about to head to Washington for peace talks.

The humans know our military is vastly superior to theirs, that we’ve held back our full strength.

The Vul are hoping we’ll take care of each other.

That we’ll help them eliminate the humans. ”

“Why?” Nora asked.

“They don’t have the ability to transport large-scale weapons that we have,” On’nas said. “So they want us to do their dirty work.”

“If that’s the case, we can’t risk human casualties,” I said firmly. “We need to show that we are trustworthy and care about the loss of life within the humans.”

Nora shot me a surprised look. “I agree. That was what I was going to say.”

I stood and stalked into my office and recorded a message for the intercom.

“Aunga’ri. We can’t lose the trust of the humans who still support us by fighting.

We need to regroup at the ship, decide our next move from a safe distance.

Diplomacy is of the essence. Together, we can win this, but only together. ”

Nora followed me, helping me as I began the evacuation protocol, touching base with my pilots and officers. “Shuttle bays A through C are equipped and ready for our departure. Shuttle bays D and E will begin preparation,” I said into the intercom as we scrambled to put on clothes.

“Who are you and what have you done with the commander?” Nora asked, shaking her head. A little smile was playing around her lips, and I reached out and grabbed her hand, squeezing it.

“I think I’m partially you right now,” I said.

Her eyes widened, but I didn’t know how else to explain it.

I understood what she understood about the situation, and I could combine that knowledge with my tactical experience from previous planets.

Previous successes and failures. “The Vul have used us like this before, and it took your understanding of the situation for me to comprehend that.”

The humans were a passionate race, both loving and intelligent, and they were quick to jump to irrational anger.

But unlike some races we’d dealt with, they had a capacity for forgiveness and an ability to admit when they’d judged things wrong.

We needed to figure out how to show them the evidence that the Vul were not on their side, and we couldn’t do that while the palace was being bombed.

I pulled her through the hall, ducking between the frenzied staff of the place down to the corridor where my assigned shuttle bay was.

As I settled into my seat in the shuttle and pulled Nora into my lap, I looked around, realizing something dire. On’nas had not followed us. Why had I expected him to be directly behind us?

“On’nas is going to do his thing,” Nora said. “You need to let him.”

I went to stand, but the shuttle was already pulling away from the bay, shuddering as human artillery hit the side.

Nora turned and stroked my cheek. “He wanted me to reassure you.” Mentally, I reached for On’nas, hoping like hell that she was wrong about this.

But that didn’t seem to be the case. I couldn’t think straight, my worry about him overwhelming everything, and Nora held my gaze.

“Deep breaths, baby. You need to do your thing. Let him do his. He’s headed to the safe house to find Axel and T’ukka. ”

“I can’t just leave him down there.” My voice was too loud, and a few of my people turned to look at me.

She stood and grabbed my hand, tugging me towards a bathroom and locking the door. Our bodies were sealed together, and she wrapped her arms tightly around my waist, nuzzling my chest. “He’ll be okay. You need to trust him.”

“He’s a lazy idiot,” I muttered.

“You know that’s not true. It’s just the mask he wears so that no one will notice what he really is.

” Her words echoed inside my mind, soothing me, focusing me, bringing me back to where I needed to be to save both of our people.

I held her for a few minutes longer, enjoying the comforting presence of my woman.

And that was surely what she was. My woman.

I reached out again for On’nas, wondering if we’d moved too far from him yet, but I sensed him, just barely.

He was okay, and he was on the move, racing for the safe house before the humans discovered it.

I took a deep, slow breath and kissed Nora, before pulling back with a frown. “Do you need me as well?” I asked, yanking my pants down and out of the way.

She smirked at me, running a hand down my shaft. “How would I need you?”

“What was it On’nas said? I think you know what you need.”

She whimpered at that, and somehow, even there, my cock responded.

I spun her, slicking pre-cum over my erection until I was wet and ready for her.

I yanked her pants down to her hips, pressing my slick fingers against her opening, testing to see that she was still ready for me.

And then I bent her forward and pressed deep into her ass and made both of us forget about our worries for the moment, using my ie’kel to stroke her clit so that I could make her come the way On’nas and I had earlier.

She whimpered, and I took a cue from our other lover, sliding all the way out, then slamming back into her in brutal, body-shaking thrusts.

I wanted more, and I slipped my ie’kel inside her pussy, feeling the warm heat of her around my second member and loving it.

As I thrust into her ass, I rubbed my ie’kel against the spot on the front wall of her vagina, the one that made her quiver.

I held my hand over her mouth as she screamed in pleasure, muting the sounds, holding her as she came and then letting go of my own pleasure, fucking her roughly until I felt that delicious sensation of my cum rising in my cock and releasing inside her.

We stood there for a moment, breathing hard, and I groaned. “Fine. I’m addicted to sexual pleasure,” I muttered.

Nora snuggled back against me and laughed. “That’s okay. Apparently I’m an anal slut?”

“On’nas had better damn well know what he’s doing, because I think I’m one of those, too,” I muttered, reaching for a towel and helping her to clean up before putting my own clothes back in order.

She turned in the tight space and grinned up at me, lifting onto her tiptoes to kiss me. “He’ll be okay. I know it.”
