Chapter 9 Mia

Chapter nine

Mia

T’ukka held my hand, squeezing it reassuringly as we walked together toward the medical bay.

Our footsteps echoed loudly in the space station corridors, which were empty.

I wasn’t sure why. Usually, they were bustling with people, and I shivered and moved closer to T’ukka’s warmth.

I couldn’t adjust to the damp chill of the recycled air.

The ship had a distinctive, slightly musty smell to it, but as we entered the med bay, I noticed it smelled different, more like sanitizing chemicals.

I wasn’t sure which was worse, but it was warmer in the med bay, and I’d take that win.

This entire adventure had started with finding a cure for my brother.

Now Logan was finally finished with his cancer treatment, healthy and strong.

Or so they said. I wasn’t sure if I could imagine such a change in just a few short months.

There were more doctors on this station, but Logan had stayed with Doctor Vralziks Yes’niet An’Ra’odah from the Earth compound, so we called for her and waited in the little reception area.

The doctor hadn’t let me see my brother for a few weeks, claiming that he was at a high-risk stage of the process.

He had been at our wedding, waiting behind a glass-walled partition and waving at me as I walked down the aisle.

I would have loved to have him walk me down the aisle, but Doctor Vralziks hadn’t allowed it.

I thought for a moment about our wedding, when everything had seemed like it had gone to shit. Maybe we could have a wedding redo once we figured out how Cix fit in.

T’ukka looked down at me, frowning, then cupped my chin with his palm, forcing me to face him as he leaned down for a kiss.

His lips on mine were gentle but reassuring, letting me know he was here for me.

Even if our bond wasn’t functioning properly, I could remember how his mind worked, and I could read the thoughts behind every one of his actions. I smiled and took a shaky breath.

I glanced up as Doctor Vralziks bustled into the room.

Her smile was a little shaky, like she was worried, and that fired up my anxiety, but T’ukka reached out and rubbed my back a little.

Whatever it was, it might have had more to do with the doctor’s nerves than anything truly wrong.

I glanced at T’ukka and he shrugged. Never in a million years would I have imagined the big gruff alien would be the one who would volunteer to come along and comfort me at the doctor’s office, but here he was, giving me a back rub.

“Hello, Doctor. I hope everything is all right?” T’ukka asked.

The doctor blew out a breath, glancing down the corridor where Logan was supposed to be coming from. She was fidgeting with the badge she wore around her neck and looked oddly antsy. “Hi! Don’t worry, Logan is perfectly healthy now.”

“Then why do you look so worried?” T’ukka asked.

“The medical procedure was genetic, and it has had some side effects.”

I frowned, my eyebrows pushing together. “Bad side effects?” I asked. T’ukka’s fingers tightened around mine.

“Oh no. Not precisely bad. He’s just…”

“A little more purple than I used to be?” I turned towards the sound of Logan’s voice, my eyes widening. He looked like himself, but not. Like what I’d imagine a hybrid of T’ukka and Logan would look like. Tall and handsome and vibrant, still Logan, but more purple.

“You’re okay, though?” I asked, reaching for his face and examining him. His eyes were still brown, but shot through with streaks of the Aunga’rian purple. “You’re okay.”

“And you married a giant purple guy,” Logan said, winking. “The doctor has taken good care of me. There’s nothing to worry about.”

“Technically, she has two husbands and a sex slave,” T’ukka said matter-of-factly. Logan’s eyes widened, and I elbowed my husband.

“It’s a long story.” I flushed and ducked my head.

“The purple doesn’t bother you?” Logan asked.

I chuckled, shaking my head. “It’ll take a little getting used to, but I guess I’m used to looking at T’ukka by now.

If you had walked out purple when I’d never been around the Aunga’ri, I suppose it might have been more of a shock.

Did you get taller? And more muscular?” I ran my hand over his shoulder, which seemed broader.

The doctor handed me the tablet. “His body adapted to the Aunga’ri genetic structure, as you can see here.

And we saw some unexpected physiological changes.

Since he’s an adult, I wasn’t predicting certain physical attributes to change, such as his height, but this was an untested procedure.

” She ducked her head, and I examined the data, frowning.

My brother had grown four inches and gained a lot of muscle mass, especially if you considered that he had already been weak.

He wasn’t tall by Aunga’ri standards, but he’d always been an average-height guy, and now was definitely on the tall side.

I glanced at him. “But you feel okay?”

He nodded, grinning. “Fantastic. But the doctor believes that I should stay on the ship while things are uncertain for people with purple-toned skin, if you know what I mean.” He winked, and suddenly I saw Logan again, that my brother was there inside, and he was healthy and stronger than ever, and I flung myself into his arms, hugging him tightly.

He hugged me back, lifting me up off the ground a little to hold me close.

“Missed you, sis,” he said.

“Missed you too,” I whispered. “So many things have changed, and this whole time, I’ve barely been able to see you to talk to you about it.”

“Two husbands, huh?” he said, chuckling and glancing at T’ukka. “You love them?”

“Yeah.” I sighed. “There’s a third man, too.

It’s complicated, but they’re great. Especially T’ukka.

” I glanced back at my big alien husband, and he smiled, which always looked a bit more like a grimace on him.

I reached back for his hand, though, and he reached out for mine at the same time.

My eyes widened as the shock of our connection hit me again.

“Bhesai Ker’el,” he murmured. Or perhaps he’d said that in my mind, because Logan didn’t react. A big, genuine smile spread over T’ukka’s face, and he met my eyes, and without moving his lips, I heard his gruff voice clearly in my head. It’s back.

I’m going to fuck you so hard once we’re done here. I replied mentally, and T’ukka threw back his head and laughed, the joy on his face unmistakable.

“They talk with their minds,” the doctor said. “Get used to it, it’s irritating as hell.”

I glanced at my brother and found him watching her, not either of us, and I poked him. He startled and looked back at me. “So I get to make myself useful now, right? We’re on the brink of war and I can’t just sit her twiddling my thumbs.”

“What did you used to do for a job?” T’ukka asked.

“Law enforcement. I was training to be an FBI Agent,” Logan said.

“That’s surprisingly useful,” T’ukka said. “Axel and Cix are about to leave on a mission to Earth, and they might enjoy your expertise.”

I glanced at T’ukka. “What?”

“Axel wants to test things, and see if Cix is okay without you. He’s been chatting with me.” He tapped his forehead. “Cix seems to be also strongly bonded to Axel.”

“See? Annoying,” the doctor said. “We have secured quarters for Logan outside of the med bay, so you should be able to see him any time you like now.”

The mix of joy at having my brother back and worry over Axel and Cix was a confusing one, and T’ukka leaned over and held me close. “They’ll be okay, babygirl. They’re doing what they do best. Axel wouldn’t be Axel if he didn’t run in and save the day like an idiot.”

He has a point. This time, it was Axel’s voice that echoed in my mind, making me gasp softly. My eyes widened as I glanced at T’ukka, who simply smiled. How could I have the bond with Axel?

It’s something with Cix. He made it possible. This time, T’ukka answered my question.

He also let me suck his dick. Axel said, humor echoing through his mind in a way that made me want to laugh.

We will not discuss putting our mouths on each other’s sexual organs again.

Cix’s voice joined the conversation, and with his words, I got a very detailed image of how good he thought Axel’s sexual organs tasted.

I glanced at my brother, and a big smile spread across my face. I met my brother’s eyes.

“Want to meet my other guys for lunch?” I asked.

“Oh, that’s sure to go terribly,” T’ukka muttered.
