Chapter 6 #2
The alcohol does its job with soothing his nerves.
His eyes wander across Linda’s frame. It’s an understatement to say she’s beautiful, especially in such a pretty flower dress that highlights her curves, a low neckline that accentuates her plump bosom.
He licks his lips and his cheeks feel rather hot.
A fluttery feeling rises in his chest as he thinks of what else might potentially happen between them. What might happen between the sheets…
This is his chance.
“Hey Linda, um…” Gene bites his lip. “Do you have anywhere else to be tonight?”
She smiles, looks over to her friends who are smiling back at her, then directs her gaze at Gene again. “No, I’m free. What were you thinking?”
“Would you… would you want to come to my motel room?”
All of a sudden behind him, he hears her two friends whisper excitedly and hurriedly: Yes! Yes! Go for it, Linda! Do it! “Why, yes. I’d love to,” Linda says.
The girls clap with approval, and Santiago laughs and pats Gene’s back. He can’t help but smile like a madman himself. Oh my god, I did it!
“Though, a girl needs to take precautions,” Linda says. “You don’t have a knife on you, or in your motel room, do you?”
“Wh-what?” Gene furrows his brows. “Why would I? Did—did you want me to have one or something? Like for self defense?”
She laughs, apparently pleased with his answer. “No, absolutely not. It’s just—you all are from Grand Rapids, aren’t you? Haven’t you heard of the Western Michigan Serial Killer?”
“Oh!” Gene perks up. “Yeah, I’ve heard of that.
It’s been all over the news lately. How some guy has been picking up girls and…
Oh god, I didn’t mean to make you think I was like that, asking you to come back with me to like—murder you or something.
Fuck. I’m just some guy in a band, man.” He covers his face with his hand, tangling his long hair in-between his fingers.
Just my luck that something crazy like that would be going on at the same time I’m trying to pick a girl up.
Linda giggles, putting her hand on his shoulder and leaning in closer. He looks up, seeing her gorgeous smile. “No, I can tell you’re not like that at all. You seem like a very nice guy.”
“I can vouch for him, if you want,” Santiago says. “He’s so shy around girls, it took a lot out of him just to muster up the courage to talk to you tonight. There’s no way he’d have the gusto to go out and kill someone.”
“Santi!” Gene turns to his friend, his cheeks even hotter.
“What? Am I wrong?”
That gets everyone, even Gene, to burst out in laughter. “Okay, I guess not.”
“What about you, Santi? May I call you that?” one of the girls on his arm asks. “You seem to have a lot of charisma.”
“Hey, I’m pretty sure the police said the guy they’re looking for is white, which makes me not even eligible to be a suspect.” Santiago waggles his pointer finger. “And yes, Santi is fine.”
They all laugh and giggle once more. Gene directs his attention to Linda again, and she looks him in the eyes. Her blue ones are mesmerizing, pulling him in closer without even thinking about it. Yes, let’s get back on track.
“How far away is your motel?” Linda asks.
“Oh, it’s just across the street,” Gene says. “We all walked here.”
“That sounds lovely.” She pulls a cigarette from her purse and lights it. “Would you like one too?”
He’s never tried smoking before, but if accepting it will up his chances of a successful night, he’s all for it. Santi smokes, anyway, so I’m already used to the smell. It won’t be so bad. “Sure, thanks.”
He accepts the cigarette, letting Linda light it for him.
Smoke flows into him, albeit not without a burn.
But he doesn’t want anyone else to realize he’s new to this.
A slight, soft cough escapes him, holding most of the smoke within his mouth, and he exhales a heavy gray cloud. Santiago whistles, “Wow, man.”
“Could we all maybe walk to the motel together?” Linda asks, taking a drag of her own cigarette. “Then we can split into… separate rooms, if you have them.”
Gene smiles. “Yeah, th-that sounds good. Let’s do that.”
“Then what are we waiting for?” Santiago exclaims. “Let’s go!”
And so, they all scamper along, Gene and Santi grabbing their guitars from their lockers first and then out the doors.
A hop, skip, and a jump across the road, and then they arrive at their motel.
Moonlight shines on the lawn chairs stationed outside.
There’s no sign of their other bandmates, meaning they’re all likely still at Denny’s.
Gene isn’t sure how long they’ll be out, but hopefully long enough to where he won’t be… interrupted.
“You and Linda can head on inside,” Santiago says as they stand outside the motel door. “Us three can hang out here. I’ll keep watch.”
Gene scrunches his lips to one side. “Are you sure you’re okay with that? You don’t need to wait for me…”
“We’ll be fine, we’ll be fine. I have an idea.” Santi looks back and forth to the two girls at his sides. “How about when you’re all done and settled, I walk all the girls home? Or I can pay for a taxi and ride home with them, whatever’s easier.”
Linda’s friends look quite excited at the prospect, but Linda herself looks a bit confused.
Was she wanting to stay the entire night?
Gene needs to make a few things clear to her before they move forward.
“I like that idea too, Santi. And Linda…” He makes eye contact with her.
“I need you to know that I just want to have some fun tonight. I’m not looking for a relationship. If that’s alright with you…”
Linda smiles sweetly. “Yes, that’s perfectly alright with me. I just wasn’t sure what was going on, so… thank you.” She pets his upper arm, and it sends a pleasant flutter through his stomach. “I’ve never done something like this before… Y’know, hanging out with a rockstar.”
Gene’s cheeks flush, and he itches the back of his head, messing up his hair. “Well, I wouldn’t really call us stars yet. We’re still pretty small on the big scale of things.”
“Take the compliment!” Santiago laughs.
“Okay! Okay!” Gene laughs back. “Alright. So Santi, you’ll be out here, and Linda, Santi can take you home later. The band will be headed out in the morning. That all sounds good?” It eases his mind to know there’s a plan in place, and everyone’s on the same page.
“Yeah, that’s cool with me,” Linda says, smiling.
“Alright, then right this way…” Gene gets his key out of his pocket and unlocks the motel door.
Thankfully, Ray isn’t inside. He’s still out with the other two. And if Santi is keeping watch, I have nothing to worry about. He shuts the door and locks it once Linda is inside, and turns the main lamp on.
Their room isn’t much, just a simple one-room motel with a bathroom off to the side, a television sitting on the dresser, and two full-size beds lining the wall.
It’s all they can afford at the moment, but something is better than nothing.
He whips his guitar off his back and sets it down, leaning upright against the dresser.
“Well, um, here we are,” Gene says, nerves kicking in now that they’re actually, finally, completely alone with each other.
Linda giggles, and takes a puff from her cigarette. “That we are. You have an ashtray for this?”
“Ah yeah, there’s one there.” He points to the one on the dresser. He’d already thrown his own away outside.
Linda stubs hers out as Gene kicks his shoes off by the door, then sits on the edge of one of the beds, the one he’d claimed earlier.
Usually he and Ray share a bed during motel stays and Santi takes the other.
He wonders if Ray will still want to if he shows up after Linda leaves, or if he’ll share one with Santi instead.
Gene supposes it doesn’t really matter. Since this is his first time doing anything like this, his mind is in a whirl.
Linda doesn’t seem weirded out by me. We haven’t even talked that much. That must mean I’m doing things right, right? I guess with these sorts of things you don’t have to talk much, you just… get on with it.
And that’s exactly what he plans to do.
“Hey darling, c’mere.” He motions over for her to sit next to him…
Or on top of him.
After she’s slipped off her own shoes, she sits on his lap, straddling his hips, her hands on top of his shoulders.
The sudden pressure makes his blood pump rapidly; his heart can barely keep up.
Not to mention a certain other pressure—the weight of her on top of his cock, even while still fully clothed, sends an electric shock throughout him.
“Why are you bothering with me when you know I’ll be gone tomorrow?” Gene asks. He can’t help but let the thought out. “I’m only here for tonight.”
“I don’t know. I guess you’re worth it.” She smiles. “I like you.”
“Well, alright.” He shrugs. “I’m not going to argue. I like you, too.”
“You’re very handsome, Gene…” Linda says, moving one of her hands to his cheek.
He gulps. His face feels ridiculously hot underneath her touch. “And you’re gorgeous, baby.”
For a split second, in his mind’s eye, he sees someone else with blue irises. Not a woman, but a man, someone he knows so well—
His thoughts are halted when she presses her lips against his.
It’s just as wonderful as he ever could’ve imagined.
Her pillowy lips feel so soft, her body almost melts into his, as her plush breasts push against his chest. He wraps his arms around her back, pulling her even closer.
He can tell she’s certainly enjoying it too.
She moves her hips on top of him, grinding against his lap, heat rising, pressure increasing, making his cock stiffen…
