3 months later…
Nerves thrum through me as I stand on the outside of the cage and watch her bounce around the ring with her hands in the air. The crowd goes wild at the sight of Destiny ‘Havoc Slayer’ Murdoch—she is the underdog in this fight but when you look at her you wouldn’t think so. The ref checks them both over and lists the rules. Gage stands beside me, feeling exactly as I do. With the both of us training her every day —even her mom helped us and so did Kiara—Gage and I have actually started getting along.
Destiny isn’t pleased when we both gang up on her, but I can see it makes her happy to see me and her dad getting along. Her whole family is here for support. Royal and the others flew in and so did London and Artemis to watch her fight. It made me fucking ecstatic to walk out with her and see my brothers here as well. Knox and Lake, who is six months pregnant, sit with the Murdochs. Xan, Trey and Wave being here means a fucking a lot as well—I know Wave doesn’t like crowded places but the fact she came to support me and my girl is a testament to the love we share.
“Fuck, I feel like I’m going to throw up,” Gage says.
“I think I’m more nervous standing out here instead of being the one actually fighting,” I admit.
“Tiana looks hungry,” he says somberly.
“Yeah she does but our girl has the upper hand here.”
“How?”
“She can draw on her past anger and use that to her advantage, I got faith,” I say just as Destiny turns to us and winks. “Get it, baby!” I yell when the bell sounds, my stomach in my fucking throat when Tiana ‘ Prime time’ Lawson rushes my girl. She does everything we taught her and keeps her guard up as she’s shoved against the cage.
“Get the fuck out of there!” Gage roars.
“Fuck her up, Dest!” I hear London call out from behind me. The rest of her family begins roaring and shouting out, their shouts seem to give her a boost, she manages to get her leg up and kicks Tiana in the stomach, sending her stumbling backward.
“Now, Slayer!” I roar, she knows in order to win this fight it has to be by knock out or tap, there is no other way for her to win. Tiana is the crowd favorite. Destiny runs forward and leaps into the air landing on her back. With one arm wrapped around her neck, she uses the other to land punches to the side of her head. In an unexpected move, Tiana pushes backward and uses all her weight to slam Destiny into the ground.
“Get up!” Gage screams as he smacks his hands against the cage. Destiny manages to roll away from Tiana when she tries to stomp on her face and my stomach bottoms out.
“Fucking destroy her, baby!” I roar as my anger surges to the surface when that fucking bitch tries to stomp on her again. Fuck, if she was a dude I would beat her ass for trying to hurt my girl. Destiny swipes her leg out and manages to take Tiana to the ground but before she can do more the bell sounds, signaling the end of the first round. Gage and I grab our supplies and rush into the ring. He begins patting her down with a towel as she spits her mouth guard into my hand. She snatches the water bottle out of my grasp and guzzles it down.
“You need to take her down this round, don’t go to the third. That's when she tends to do the eye gouging and fights dirty,” Gage barks at her. She nods and hands me back the bottle. I place her mouthguard in her hand and shoot her a wink.
“Go for the knockout, she’s favoring her left side so attack that side. I want to see you using your fists more. She knows you like to use your legs so switch it up and keep her guessing.” Gage and I are pushed out of the ring. We resume our positions and both grip the side of the cage as we wait for the bell to ring. The second it does, Tiana takes off like a raging bull and tackles Destiny to the ground, the girl is a shark. She climbs on top of my baby and hails down blow after blow.
“Knock her the fuck out!” I roar. Destiny is doing her best to shield her face but if she doesn’t do something soon this fight is over.
“Right jab, left uppercut!” Gage screams over the roar of the crowd. Destiny swings out with a right hook to Tiana’s jaw dazing her slightly but she still takes a hit to the rib. Adrenaline is riding her so the pain hasn’t registered. Just as Tiana cocks her arm back for the final knockout, Destiny swings out with her left hook, sending Tiana flying off her and falling to the side of her in a heap. Gage and I jump up and down cheering, grabbing each other and hugging but then realize what we have done and shove a part. The ref is there counting down. I wait with bated breath. When he waves his hand in the air signaling the end of the fight, I rush for the gate, shove it open and run to my girl. She jumps into my arms, locking her legs around my waist as she raises her arms.
The crowd is going nuts!
She leans down and presses her lips to mine, then draws back so our noses touch. “I love you so fucking much, Tay Tay.”
My heart swells inside my chest. “I love you too, so fucking much I can’t even put it into words, baby.” Gage tears her out of my arms and I stand smiling at the sight of them, he looks so proud.
This is the definition of what your heart beating outside your chest looks like, how I ever thought I could walk away and live without her is a mystery to me and one I never hope to discover the answer to. Destiny Murdoch is mine and it feels fucking amazing to say that.
