22. Angel

Chapter twenty-two

Angel

I don’t lock the door behind me as I leave Snow to bathe in peace, and it’s a show of trust on my part.

Prince will be angry if he finds out that I snuck into her room.

‘If’ being the keyword here.

Honestly, I’m glad I did because I think Snow was about to drown at one point.

I had just walked in the moment sleep stole her, and if I had been a second too late, she may have drowned in that bubbly water.

Thank the heavens she used so much bubble bath because I don’t think I would have been able to hold back if I had seen her naked.

Her creamy skin is far too tempting, and I had to fight the urge to rush on her and fuck her in that bathtub until she was screaming my name.

Fucking hell. The things I would do to that woman, and now images of ropes and gags flash through my mind as my barely contained beast bristles, making my hackles rise.

I wonder if she has even had a man’s cock between her legs, or if she truly is a sheltered princess.

Maybe I can blindfold and gag her while I take her virginity for the first time.

Will she bleed prettily down my cock?

My dick hardens at the thought, and I press my forehead to the wall, fisting my hand asI think of unsavory things.

Like Hunter in a blond wig .

I’m still pissed at him for that.

I’m not a Halloween costume, the prick.

Finally, I gather my composure, waiting for my erection to soften as I leave before Prince gets wind of my transgressions.

After all, it’s not right to creep up on women while they bathe…

So, I’m told.

I don’t breathe again until I leave Prince’s wing, making it to the communal area of the house.

Once again, Moth drowns his sorrows with a bottle of whiskey. Cousin really needs to pull it together.

He's turning into his mother, and we all know how that sad story ended.

Hunter and Casper rise from the couches, and Hunter has an eager look in his green eyes when he catches sight of me.

“So, she’s really here then?”

I have nothing to say to him as I scoff, filing past him and my shy little brother as I approach the bar.

I pull up a stool, narrowing my eye at Moth as he raises an eyebrow at me.

Sometimes, I think Moth looks more like me and Saint than Casper and Knight do, and he could pass for our third brother.

The only difference is that his hair is black and his eyes onyx.

I grab a small glass, and he rolls his eyes and pours me a shot of whiskey.

Kind of hypocritical of me after I was just criticizing him for drowning his sorrows, but I just need a little buzz to take the edge off.

One shot won’t hurt.

No, two shots, and the beast may very well just escape his cage.

“Hey, I was talking to you,” Hunter huffs behind me.

A sneer crosses my face, and I glare at him from the corner of my good eye. “Fuck off, asshole.”

My cousin is taken aback at first by my snappy response. But then he laughs it off, raking a hand through his brown hair.

“Look… I was just playing around…”

I pierce him with my glacial stare. “You’re lucky I didn’t plant rat entrails on your bed, Prick.”

Hunter chuckles. “Rat entrails would be going a little too far now, Angie.”

The shot glass cracks beneath my fingers as I whirl my head around. “I told you not to call me Angie .”

Hunter throws up his palms in peace, and I release a gritty sigh, shoving another shot glass beneath Moth’s nose.

He smirks and pours me another. “Take it easy, cuz. You know how you get.”

“Just mind your goddamn business, Moth.”

Moth eyes me strangely for a few moments before swigging back yet another shot for himself.

Casper urges Hunter to sit down, keeping him a good distance away from me, and I’m grateful to my baby brother.

He always knows when I need space.

Still, that doesn’t stop the curiosity in his own violet eyes as they settle on me.“So, it’s true. Prince considered my proposal in the end, and she’s now living here? As our maid?”

A small chuckle escapes me, and I look at my younger brother. “Yes, baby brother. Thanks to your ingenuity, she is now living under our very noses. Well done.”

“Oh…” He blinks, a blush taking over his cheeks. “I suppose that’s good. So, Prince isn’t going to kill her then?”

A painful silence stretches through the room, and I have no idea what to tell him.

That has yet to be decided. I have no idea what demons plague my cousin these days, but they can’t be good.

He put a gun to her head. I would know; Saint tells me everything.

Casper sighs. “I see.”

Moth is just as crestfallen on the other side of the bar, and I regard him for a moment. Casper hasn’t even laid eyes on the girl, but Moth looks as if his soul has been sucked right from his toes.

He finds me staring at him then, donning his mask of indifference yet again as he swigs back another shot.

It's best I stop. The beast is thrashing at his chains, and if I drink anymore, he may just escape.

And poor Snow may not even live through her first night at the house.

I smile as best as I can, reaching across to ruffle my brother’s head. “Fret not. I’m sure Prince will come to some compromise.”

“I doubt that…” Moth mutters, and I scowl at him from the corner of my eye.

“What was that?”

Moth has enough of his shots, and now he takes the whole bottle, leaving for his wing. “I prefer you quiet and sober, Angel .”

He’s right. I am awfully chatty when I have had a drink or two, but that doesn’t mean he gets a pass.

I will find out what has been bothering him.

He’s been this way since we learned of Snow’s existence.

Odd indeed.

It's time I retired to my own wing.

But Hunter’s voice stops me.

“Hey, you want to play a game with us, Angel?”

I turn, glaring at him.

His face pales when he spies the ire in my eye.

Casper whispers to him, and Hunter refrains from eye contact. They know what I am, and they are wise not to provoke the demon.

However, Casper has nothing to worry about.

I wouldn’t dream of hurting him…

“N-nevermind,” Hunter peeps, returning to his stack of cards as he and Casper play.

Finally, I take my leave, trying with all my might to rid the memory of her beautiful, wetskin from my mind.

It looks like another cold shower is in order.
