Chapter 27

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Genevieve

Waking up to Kazimir’s head in between my thighs had knocked off the smell of pancakes and waffles as the best way to wake up.

I stirred, fighting for my consciousness between the heavy fog of dawn and lust clouding my senses.

“Good morning, baby.”

My lips tilted. I loved when he used endearments.

A moan stole my response when his tongue dragged to my clit and flicked. My back arched into the bed.

I was still sore from the night before. I was damn close to passing out, but Kazimir had somehow mustered the strength for a second round when we went to clean off in the bathroom. I couldn’t understand how he still had the strength, or should I say, appetite for another session.

But I wasn’t complaining, though. If there was one thing I’d learned, it was that Kazimir had more power over my body than I did, and a particularly traitorous organ would gladly betray me in favour of his sinful coaxing.

The dull ache was slowly replaced by a light thrum of pleasure and before I knew it, a fire was lit beneath my skin and my entire body shook from the intensity.

“Kazimir…” I breathed, reaching down to run my fingers through his hair.

I was surprised he still had a full head of hair with how much I pulled at it, and even more shocked my lips hadn’t permanently adjusted to the shape it took to say his name with how many times I’d screamed it in the last twelve hours.

My orgasm grew fast, building like a soft wave till it shifted into something stronger, forcing my hips right off the bed.

Kazimir’s hands tightened around me, keeping me down while his lips continued to devour me till I rode down the waves and beads of tears rolled down the corners of my eyes.

It took a moment for my consciousness to fully return and to find him hovering over me with a look I’d never seen before.

“Good morning, Miss Sinclair.”

My lips stretched into a smile as I struggled to regain control over my liquid limbs. “Good morning, Mr. Ivanovich.”

“Hold still,” he said, disappearing into the bathroom and reappearing with a washcloth.

I let out a sigh when the warm towel pressed against my pussy, feeling it loosen me all the way through.

Kazimir let out a smile that transformed his face into an almost boyish grin. “Sorry I got too carried away.”

“It’s okay. I’m not complaining.”

He let out a curse, followed by a Russian phrase I couldn’t understand.

“Ты меня в могилу сведешь.”

“What?”

“Nothing.” He smiled, but the playfulness in his eyes was gone. “I was just making a mental note.”

I watched as he took his time to clean me up, wiping every inch off with so much care like it was the single most important task in the world.

There was something inherently erotic about watching a man as powerful as him do such a mundane task that I didn’t realize I had begun to get wet until he let out a groan.

“I’m trying to hold back here, but if you keep tempting me, I won’t be responsible for what follows.”

My walls clenched at his threat and he let out another Russian swear, heading back into the bathroom.

There was a little part of me that wanted to dare him to do his worst, but I knew I was one step away from becoming bedridden and possibly waddling like a duck.

He made one more round to the bathroom, returning to press an almost hot towel onto my pussy before cleaning me off one last time.

“I have an early morning at the office today,” he said as he made his way into the bathroom.

My brows furrowed. “I don’t recall any morning appointments in your calendar today.”

A pause went by before his voice echoed from the bathroom. “It’s off the books.”

I wanted to press further and demand the nature of the meeting, but I couldn’t, so instead, I pulled the sheets over my naked body and just like that, the shield between us resumed its normal position.

I was twenty minutes late, and I spent the entire elevator ride up rehearsing an excuse that got worse every time I said it in my head.

The meeting had already started when I walked in with Nico, Lev, two men I couldn’t recognize, and a woman who—for lack of a better word to describe her—looked as sharp as a blade.

She regarded me with a look of displeasure and I swallowed, already expecting Kazimir to display his hatred for tardiness.

However, he didn’t even look up from his laptop when I finally made it to the table.

“Did you get the Hendrik files?”

“Yes.” I set the folder on his desk, waiting for the axe to fall. “Sorry, the train was delayed, I—”

“It’s alright,” he said, picking up the file without looking at me. “I left a couple of instructions with Caroline. You can go sort them out with her. Have them ready before noon.”

I blinked. That was it. No comment about the time, no arched brow, no this is why I don’t hire people who take public transportation. I stood there a beat too long, waiting for the sarcasm to catch up with the silence.

“Was there something else?” He finally glanced up, and there was something warm hiding behind the usual sharpness in his eyes that made my stomach flip.

“No. Nothing.” I turned and walked out before my face could give anything away and Nico’s hawk eyes managed to put two and two together, but I caught the ghost of a smile pulling at his mouth just before the door closed.

I walked straight to Caroline’s office, opening the door without knocking. “Hey.”

She and Rose practically jumped apart like they’d been caught in the midst of something scandalous.

I walked over to them, my eyes narrowed with suspicion. “Care to share?”

Rose looked at Caroline and let out a defeated sigh.

“So, you must not breathe a word of this to anyone.” She walked up to me, holding her phone to me.

My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach when I saw the image displayed on the screen.

“Trust me, I was twice as shocked when I saw it.”

Caroline’s voice was a muffled background noise buried deep beneath the heavy thudding in my ears.

The image was blurry and if I weren’t in it, I would’ve been very confused about the details.

“A dinner date is the world’s renowned preliminaries for a one-night stand, but an opera? A private one at that? That’s an intentionally curated plan.” Rose shoved the picture further into my face like I couldn’t already see Kazimir’s form shielding my smaller frame.

“I just want to know who she is and how she was able to talk him into an opera date,” Caroline replied.

“Who knows, maybe her pussy is made of gold.”

The statement and the laughter that followed forced me back to the present.

“You okay, Gen?” Rose peered at me. “Don’t tell me you’re jealous.”

Panic jumped in my throat and I was about to get defensive when I remembered they didn’t even know it was me.

“Jealous?” I cleared my throat. “Why would I be jealous of an opera date?”

“Because he beat up a guy and threw him out of work for you?”

“Not again, Rose,” I groaned.

“She’s right.” Caroline chuckled. “But it’s nothing to worry about. He’d probably be with another one by the weekend."

Rose let out a sigh of agreement while I tried to rein in my emotions.

“I still think an opera date is a sign. He never does that.” Rose finally pulled the screen from my view.

“How did you get that?” I finally asked when I recovered from my shock.

“There was a private viewing at the Opera and someone was able to sneak a shot.” She pouted at her screen. “Too bad it is a blurry one. It’s been a while since he was out with a woman. Would’ve made for hot gossip.”

“Hopefully someone got a better shot,” Caroline sighed.

“Kaz—the boss said you have some instructions for me?” I changed the topic immediately before I passed out from gossip-induced anxiety.

Caroline gave me a thorough perusal before speaking. “You good?”

“Came in late and now he’s on my ass,” I said the first plausible lie in my head.

Caroline’s eyes widened slightly as she rushed back to her laptop. “You should’ve led with that.”

I took a snapshot of her laptop screen, downloaded the information on them, and hurriedly made my way out before I made a stupid mistake.

I’d concluded the task, went to get his second dose of coffee when the barista told me Kazimir instructed that his coffee be directly sent to his office and that his assistant wasn’t a server.

I walked back in shock. From my start as an employee here, Kazimir made his coffee requirements clear and how I was supposed to always have one ready.

Being relieved of the duty was not something I saw coming. There’s a part of me that would’ve giggled at the recent development if the picture on Rose’s phone was not already haunting me.

Within these walls, it was easy to forget that Kazimir was not just a rich, powerful man, he was also a public sensation who attracted paparazzi and press like any other celebrity.

The only difference was, they knew to take their shots from a concealed distance more than they did with regular celebrities.

“Get your coat.” Kazimir suddenly appeared in my office a little after one, sleeves rolled to his forearms, looking like he had nowhere else to be. “We’re getting lunch.”

“We?” I peeked into his office through the slightly parted door. “I thought the clients had already left?”

“They did,” he replied monotonously, and when I didn’t give a response, he added. “There’s something I need to go over with you.”

“And it can’t be done here?” I knew I probably sounded irrational, but that picture was still in my mind. I couldn’t afford to be photographed with him and be added to his growing harem.

He shrugged, shutting the door and walking into my space. “If you'd prefer to spend lunchtime here, be my guest.”

“I don’t have to work during lunch.”

He gave me a look. “Are you getting paid to be stubborn?”

“I’m not being stubborn. I’m simply trying to understand why we cannot discuss what has to be discussed here.”

Kazimir let out a deep breath. “Because I’ve been holed up in here since six in the morning and I need fresh air. Is that reason enough for my assistant to join me for lunch?”
