Epilogue
Chiara
I t’s been years since the chaos first entered my life, but in the end, it’s the love that’s made everything fall into place.
The walls of this mansion have never felt more like home.
I step into the nursery, my eyes softening at the sight of my baby asleep in her crib. The light from the window is gentle, casting long shadows across the room, and I watch as my little one shifts slightly in the blankets, a quiet sigh escaping her lips.
Mikhail stands by the window, his back to me as he gazes down at our little baby.
Nikolai stays near me, his hand resting lightly on my shoulder as he watches me with a tenderness that still manages to take my breath away.
These two men, the same men who changed my life in every which way, are now the pillars that support me.
And now, we have this; our family, our future.
I’ve often thought about how I ended up here, and sometimes, I still can’t understand it.
So many twists and turns happened to bring me to this place, and though I could never have ever imagined it happening, I’m glad it did.
If I wasn’t taken, the tension would have remained.
If I wasn’t taken, these two men wouldn’t have found their sister.
If I wasn’t taken, I wouldn’t be here with them, raising our two daughters under their roof.
“Come here, Mama.” Nikolai calls softly, his voice low but steady. “You need to rest.”
I glance over at him, catching the small smirk that plays at the corners of his mouth.
There’s a playfulness in his eyes, and I can’t help but smile in his direction.
Both Nikolai and Mikhail have been my strength throughout these years, in every single way that I’ve ever needed them.
I walk over towards him, feeling the weight of both their gazes now on me.
And as I turn my head, I find Mikhail’s eyes on mine.
He stalks towards me, and it doesn’t take long before they’re both standing on either side of me.
“We’ve talked about this.” Mikhail tells me, his voice so tender. “You need to rest whenever our babies are resting too.”
My smile only widens, because I know he’s right.
We’ve spoken about this numerous times now, but for some reason, I can’t seem to rest whenever my girls are. They’re both so sweet as they sleep, so peaceful, that it makes it difficult for me to rest too.
“I’m fine staying up.” I say to them, my voice soft, but firm too. “But thank you both for looking out for me. I’ve never felt more loved before.”
Nikolai reaches out, taking my hand as he raises it higher, leaning in to press his lips against my knuckles.
“And you will always be loved, darling. We won’t let anything happen to you, or to our babies. Not now, not ever.”
I nod at him, knowing it’s true.
They’ve proven it time and time again now.
So together, the three of us stand in the quiet nursery, watching over our little Aurora.
Both my girls will grow up in their home, surrounded by love, strength, and protection too.
“I know a lot has happened since the beginning.” I say as I look at both of them. “But I truly believe that everything that has happened has led to this; to this moment. Our family. Our girls.”
Mikhail moves forward, pressing a kiss to my forehead, his lips warm against my skin.
“We’ve been through hell and back, beauty.
” He whispers, and I find myself shivering, knowing it’s true.
“The fear…the secrets…the blood on our hands. The night we almost lost you. The deals we made. The people we buried.” His voice remains soft, but each word lands heavy.
“But the one thing we never lost was each other, and that’s all that matters. ”
Nikolai nods, knowing that Mikhail is correct, with his gaze locked on mine.
“Through every war, and through every betrayal, darling.” He adds. “We have always found our way back to you, Chiara.”
I take a shaky breath in, my mind drifting back to the memory of that awful night.
The smoke.
The screams.
The way my blood turned to ice.
They fought for me.
They found me.
And they tore through my attackers like they were nothing more than shadows in their way.
Ruthless.
Unforgiving.
Mine.
And after, once everything was finished and we were back in Bratva territory, they showed me exactly what I meant to them.
Not with grand gestures, but rather with quiet devotion.
Fierce protection.
They didn't just promise to keep me safe.
They proved it.
With blood.
With fire.
With love.
“We’ll protect this family. Always.”
The heavy weight of their words sink into my bones, and I close my eyes for a moment, letting the truth of it settle over me.
We’ve made it.
We’ve survived.
And now, we’re thriving.
But it’s not just the three of us.
It’s our two babies too; our Anastasia, and our Aurora.
It’s the rest of our family as well.
And as I open my eyes again, looking at both my twin protectors, I know that this is only the beginning.
We leave our little baby in her nursery, switching the nightlight on so she’ll have a gentle glow around the room for when she wakes up.
I glance back at Aurora’s sleeping frame one last time before we can completely leave the room, and when I see that she’s sleeping safe and sound, I turn back around, walking out completely.
Nikolai holds onto my hand, and Mikhail wraps his arm around my middle.
“Our girls are perfect, aren’t they?”
I whisper, my words meant for both of them.
Nikolai and Mikhail know exactly what I mean.
We’ve created something beautiful together; our daughters.
They both glance over at me, their eyes soft, and a deep understanding is shared between us.
“Our girls both are.” Mikhail agrees, his voice filled with pride. “Sia and Rory may be protected, but they’ll grow up learning to be strong too.”
I nod, knowing it’s true.
We walk down the hallway, and as we approach our eldest daughter’s bedroom, I can feel my heart rate pick up.
Our Anastasia, our fiery, passionate girl, sleeps soundly in her bed.
She looks like a dream with her lips slightly parted, her chest rising and falling in the slow, deep rhythm of sleep.
She looks like her fathers, with her pale skin, blonde hair, and striking blue eyes.
Nikolai steps closer to her bed, his hands brushing the strands of hair away from her face.
There’s a softness in his touch. He’s a man of few words, but the way he cares for our children speaks volumes.
As I step forward, I feel my heart swell with a mixture of emotions.
I can’t help but smile as I look at her.
My daughter.
My baby.
The one who came into our lives so unexpectedly, but who now belongs to us as we belong to her.
I lean over the bed, careful not to wake her.
She stirs slightly as I kiss her forehead, my lips lingering there for just a moment longer.
She sighs in her sleep, a tiny, peaceful sound that makes my chest tighten with love.
She doesn’t wake though.
She never does, not when she’s deep in sleep like this, content and free from any worries after everything we’ve been through.
It’s a reminder that we’re doing right by her, and that she’s safe.
She’s ours.
As I pull away, I turn to look at Nikolai and Mikhail, both who have been watching me silently.
I smile at them.
“Chiara.” Nikolai says in a voice that’s just over a whisper. “Let’s head to bed now. Our babies are okay. They are safe.”
I nod, looking back at Anastasia for a brief moment, before turning back around.
And in their eyes, I see the love they carry for me, and for both of our babies.
“Come on.” I say softly as I step away from her bed. “Let’s go.”
Nikolai reaches for me, his arms opening wide.
“We’ve got you, darling.” He promises. “Always. Forever.”
I nod my head, swallowing hard.
Mikhail stands beside me, his expression tender but protective.
“Nobody will ever harm our daughters.” He adds, his voice almost a vow. “Or you, beauty. Nikolai and I will always keep you all safe.”
I step into their embrace, sighing softly as I feel the familiar strength of their arms around me, and the unspoken bond that we share.
Together, we are whole.
Together, we are unstoppable.
We walk out of Anastasia’s bedroom, shutting the door behind us, as we make our way into our own room.
It’s where we belong, all three of us.
The soft lighting from the lamp on the nightstand casts a soft glow across the bed, and I’m suddenly overcome with a sense of peace.
We’ve been through so much now.
So. Much.
From the moment they took me, when I was more terrified of them than anything else, to the quiet, steady way they both taught me I was safe with them.
They’ve never threatened me.
They’ve only ever challenged me.
They’ve pushed me to see them—to really see them—for exactly who they are underneath all that danger and control.
And throughout it all, they’ve never let go of me, and I’ve never stopped choosing them.
Not when secrets were revealed that almost broke us completely, and not when the pressure of them both stepping into their roles as Pakhans of the Bratva became too overwhelming.
Now, we’ve created something even stronger; a family, built on love and trust, and the shared commitment to one another.
Our future has never looked brighter.
As we settle into our bed together, I pull the covers around us, feeling their warmth, and their love, surrounding me.
I lean my head against Nikolai’s chest, my hand resting on Mikhail’s arm.
The three of us share a quiet moment, letting the weight of the world fall away as we find peace in each other’s presence.
“I still can’t believe it’s like this for us.”
I whisper, my voice content.
Mikhail leans in, pressing a kiss to my forehead, his lips warm against my skin.
“We never imagined it could be like this either, Chiara, but it’s perfect.”
I smile, closing my eyes, allowing myself to relax finally, with both their protective arms around me.
I know we’ve made it through the hardest parts, and now, we’re just enjoying the beauty of what we’ve created together; our family, our love, our future.
