"Line up you dimwits!"
Mrs Yvonne's voice boomed, reverberating along the walls. Her voice was enough to temporarily knock the fear of the three devils out of me. The three maids that had been losing it suddenly composed themselves and were standing up straight, dusting and patting their gowns for invisible dust I couldn't see.
I turned to Mrs Yvonne and I saw perspiration forming on her forehead.
She wiped her glass and glared at me.
"What do you think you are doing? Line up! Join the line!" She motioned toward the maids who were standing in order.
I joined them at the end and they glared at me, making a show of even shifting away from me as if I would stain them with my Omega blood but I wasn't bothered.
I was bothered about what would happen to me, what Ryder would do to me.
My fears had come back, my knees were slightly trembling. Any efforts I made to steel myself failed. I had pulled the last straw, this was the end.
The door opened with a large jam, as though it had been hit with a battering ram. The poor thing was still hanging for dear life by the hinges as Max and Ryder stormed in. They were a little taken aback by the line of maids waiting and started scanning the quarters. I hid behind the shadow of the maid in front of me.
"My lords," Mrs Yvonne bowed her head low and made a small curtsy. "What brings you to—"
"Silence!" Max snapped as he raised his hands at her.
Mrs Yvonne stiffened and her clothes were wet with perspiration. She looked at me and her eyes said it all.
"What have you done?"
My breath stiffened and my chest felt very heavy. I looked up to the ceiling to calm myself down, but my vision was suddenly becoming very blurry. I realized that I hadn't been breathing at all.
I gasped for air but it was enough to give away my position.
Ryder and Max's eyes suddenly fell on me.
They suddenly appeared very big, their menacing alpha aura was threatening to choke all of us in the room. The maids were whimpering and gasping in fear when Max and Ryder stomped towards me.
Max stopped before me and his eyes were glowing red. He lifted his hands and I closed my eyes, awaiting his claw to behead me. I started to console myself, convincing myself that there was peace in death and that death was just the beginning.
A hand caressed my chin. The touch was gentle as if he didn't want to break me.
My eyes flew wide open.
Huh?
Max inspected my chin, the red glow in his eyes gone as he looked for invisible injuries that normal eyes couldn't detect. He held my arms gently and squeezed them lightly.
I turned my eyes to Mrs Yvonne and she was awestruck as I was. I didn't even realize that my mouth was wide open.
"You bloody asshole. You fucking scared her!" Max roared at Ryder who was standing directly behind him.
He looked.... remorseful.
I shook my head and blinked several times.
Ten seconds ago, I was sure that I was going to meet my mom in Valhalla or Heaven or wherever dead werewolves go.
Ryder couldn't even meet my eyes as I looked at him. I pinched my forearms to be sure I wasn't dreaming.
Max was holding me gently.
Ryder was acting remorseful.
This was too much information to take in.
I thought my head would blow at that moment.
It must be a plan. They probably wanted to make me feel at ease, and then exact their revenge when I wasn't on guard. I remembered the way they enjoyed the thrills in their dirty game, especially on me.
"Don't you have something to say?" Max stood beside me and held my hand. I looked down at his hands and back to his face. He was glaring at Ryder, his attention on his brother.
Ryder scratched his head and looked to the ground. He put his hands in his pocket and brought them out again. He was battling with his emotions and pride if it were real.
He looked me in his eyes and I saw a look that I had never seen in Ryder before, even when he was with other girls.
"Liv, I'm sorry, I—" he looked away and sighed. "I shouldn't behave treated you like that, I should have been very careful with you and—" Ryder swallowed and scratched this hair with one hand. "I'm sorry Liv, I truly am," he concluded.
The blood had drained from Mrs Yvonne and the maids' faces as they looked at me and back to the two boys.
Never has it happened that a highborn had apologized to an Omega, to make it crazy, an Alpha.
"Wait, you don't have to do this," I started. I didn't want matters to escalate beyond my reach, if the people heard about this, they would think that I had put them under some sort of magic trick and I wasn't ready for that yet.
"You—you don't have to apologize," I held out my hands in front of me, "It was my fault, I—" I stopped when my eyes fell on the maids who were listening to the conversation with renewed curiosity.
"I shouldn't have done that, I accept any form of punishment you will give me, and I—"
Max spun me towards him so that I faced him directly. I could smell his sweet body scent and aftershave, I stared directly into his eyes and I found myself getting lost in it.
"What are you saying Liv?" Max stopped me, his tone filled with worry and concern.
I blinked twice, returning to the world. "I'm sorry, I will accept—"
"Stop this Liv" Max groaned already getting upset.
Although he was gentle with it.
I could call it some kind of gentle growl.
"I won't hear any more of it, come," he held my hand and pulled me out of the room.
Ryder held his head down and followed after us. Max took me to the mansion and I swallowed hard. The next events hadn't been forecasted in my head so I was really confused about what was going on.
Max and Ryder would never put their reputation in the mud for me, even if it were for thrills. The guards at the mansion eyed me as they greeted the two future Alphas as they entered it. They walked with me in the direction of the rooms and I found myself being led to my former room, where I had run away from.
The door was opened and I Max released his hold on me when I was inside. I blinked several times at the five maids that were lined up in the center of the room.
What was even more interesting was that Callum was sitting crosslegged, waiting for me with a gentle smile on my face. He seemed overly amused and impressed, which I didn't know why.
I stared from Callum to the 5 maids present, and Max and Ryder for an explanation of what was going on.
Max came up to me, and for the first time in the past five minutes, he wore a gentle smile on his face.
"Hey, are you ready?" He gently squeezed my shoulders as he smiled at me.
I blinked at him. "Ready for what?" I shook my head and looked at Ryder. He was, standing by the corner not saying anything at all.
"We are taking you out" Callum replied with a smirk. "We are taking you out on a special occasion Liv," he completed his sentence.
I stared at him dumbfounded.
Their display of kindness was too scary for me to bask in.
All my life, I had been chased and bullied by these three men in front of me and all of a sudden, they are acting suspiciously very kind to me.
I kept quiet and observed the room.
Out of the five maids that were in the room, there was a particular woman that stood out.
Tall, pompous and brown hair with green eyes, I recognized her as one of the best stylist in our pack.
Her name probably started with the letter E.
She glanced at me once and I would never forget that look of disdain that was plastered on her face.
"My lord, I didn't know you wanted me to work on her," she said to Max. She didn't even try to hide her feelings, not that I was very hurt by it. I was instead used to the this kind of discrimination.
"What do you mean?" Max frowned at her. She licked her lips and sighed at him. "Speak," Max grew impatient.
"All my life, I have only ever worked with Alphas, high ranking wolves in our packs and beyond, Betas and many others. But not with Omegas, I do not feel to well working with their kind," she complained.
Her words felt very bitter towards me. I hung my head and stared at the floor instead. I wondered what crime Omegas had caused in the past to be discriminated like that.
"How dare you disobey my order? I gave you a command, you do it!" Max exploded by my side, but I was too depressed to care about it.
She shook at Max's voice and held her hands at her side. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Callum stand up and walk towards the maid.
"Look at me," Callum said calmly to the woman.
She raised her head, but I could see that she was shaking by the threatening Aura coming from. Callum.
"Now look at her," he pointed at me. She looked at me, and I saw the worry on her face. "You see that look on her face? That sad look you just gave her? I want it gone," he snapped his finger.
I blinked several times at his statement.
"I'm going out, and I don't care how good you make her look, but if she doesn't look happy before I'm back, you will lose your job and maybe I will gladly hunt you in the forest for a change," Callum's eyes glowed red and he grinned menacingly at her.
She shook at his words and whimpered like a homeless Chihuahua at midnight.
I held my hands together as I stared at the show before my eyes.
What the hell was going on?
