Ryder's POV...
I felt the hot air fill the dinning table as everyone sat still without touching their meals. They was so much tension and Max didn't look normal to me.
I knew he was angry but the worse part of everything is he didn't try his best to hide it and that was a threat to us on it's own.
Mother also didn't say anything and I followed the gaze of her eyes. She kept taking swift glances at Max and what shocked me the most was Max didn't create a fuss out of it despite looking back at her.
Everyone knew how he despised her and would always look for little issues to create a mountain out of a mole hill but at that moment everything was different.
I instantly believed mum was up to something but I couldn't really pin point what the problem was.
Anyways I couldn't care less about anyone who wasn't Liv.
I just couldn't stop thinking about the night I shared with her and I would do anything to have that night with her once more.
Liv stepped inside the dinning hall and without a loud recognition, her presence was already let known as Callum smiled at her.
I also smiled at her and I was expecting Max to do the same. Guessing his grudge is with us and not Liv but at the sight of her, his face hardened with a frown displayed on his forehead.
"You marked her?" Max asked in a low voice and anyone would know guessing from the fact the marks on her neck were visible enough.
"I'm free to mark her however and whenever I want and I did that last night" Callum gritted, as though trying to make a mockery out of Max and I watched them without saying a word.
Max scoffed hard and it was obvious he had a lot to say but for some unknown reason, he remained calm.
"Some people are so cheap and naive to let two men mark her, I just can't understand how anyone could let that happen" Mum said and I knew who those words were being referred to.
Liv stiffened as she poured the jug of water into her glass, lifting it up to her lips while her hands trembled.
I held Liv's hand and guided the glass to her lips "Drink up" I instructed and she nodded her head, slowly gulping down the water till nothing was left.
I dropped the glass on the table and lifted my gaze up to her "Are you okay?" I asked, placing my hand on her's and she squeezed it hard.
"Yes I am, thank you for caring" Liv responded.
"It would always be my duty" I replied back.
"Mum why do you always bring this upon yourself? If you're aware that Liv has been marked by two men you should also be aware of the fact you shouldn't speak to my mate in that tone" Callum warned
"Where are your manners Callum? don't forget you are talking to your mother" Luna Rebecca snapped with rage coursing through her veins as she balled her fists.
"I think it's become a habit of yours to point out people's mistakes but not yours" Callum said.
"What exactly did I do? I just expressed how I felt about the whole situation" She voiced out, acting completely oblivious of her mistake. Anyways I wasn't surprised because she always did that.
"You made a jest out of Liv but I'll need to inform you properly that she is the future Luna of this packhouse and with time she would be more powerful than you. I know you'll hate to see that but there's nothing you can do" Callum shot out casually as mum slammed her fists on the table, shaking the plates.
"Over my dead body Callum! This cheap and worthless Omega girl can never become the future Luna not while I'm alive" She thundered, her voice erupted as though it were a volcano.
"Does the truth hurt that much? You should have thought about how you would feel if the truth was being thrown at your face before insulting my mate" Callum lashed out, glaring at mum with a hard stern.
"Whatever is happening is because of you Liv. Since you came into my son's life, they lost all their respect for me!" She shot out and I could feel the intensity of the anger she was trying so hard to hold within her.
"We were doing that before she came into out lives so don't try to pass the blame. You've never been a mother to us but a woman who always wanted to control her children's life" Callum let out.
I felt at peace, having to see mum get a dose of her own medicine and Callum was the right person who could tell her where her rightful place was.
"Listen to me carefully Callum. Liv would never be one the future Luna and I swear on it!" She warned as she dashed out with anger.
"Except you want to go to an early grave since it's just impossible for you not to watch Liv become the Luna of the dark moon pack" Callum stated as Luna Rebecca turned her back, gazing dangerously at him.
"You're still an amateur in this game of love or whatsoever you're trying to do and you still don't have the faintest of idea on what I'm capable of" She threatened and walked out.
"You're going to be fine Liv. She has always been that way but this time around, you aren't alone. We are here to hold your hands and support you" I assured as Liv casted a bright smile at me.
"Also take note that you shouldn't get yourself worked up thinking about the words of my mother" Callum said.
"Don't just be quiet Max. What's your deal on this?" Callum questioned, it was clear he was about to lose his patience due to the way Max watched the whole drama unfold without spewing out a word from his mouth.
"I don't want to talk about this matter. You didn't ask about my deal when you both marked Liv as your mate" Max cursed at Callum and I wasn't exempted either.
"You are just a selfish person. It's not like Liv is yours only, we are all supposed to have her but you're letting your wolf get into your head to control you" Callum said.
"Callum is right, just get those stupid thoughts out of your head" I chirmed in as Max gazed hard at me, almost as though he wanted to rip off my head.
"Ryder fucking keep quiet and remain seated. You don't have a say in this because you are Callum's puppet who fucking does as he says" Max retorted.
"And what about you? are you forgetting to define yourself as the black sheep between us. We aren't children anymore and we won't just give into your silly demands just to make you happy" Ryder fired back at Max.
"There's no need explianing anything to Max because his wolf would always tell him otherwise" Callum mocked with a smirk.
"How dare you involve my wolf in this!" Max fired back with resentment.
He picked up a knife from the plate of fruits and he flunged it towards Callum.
The knife brushed past my ear but I was swift enough in bending down as it passed by me and slit Callum by his ear.
The knife hit the wall, causing blood to ooze out from Callum's ear.
I was startled at Max's advances. I didn't fail to observe the stunned look Callum had on his face.
We would always fight everytime as brothers and disagree on so many things but never for once had Max ever thought of harming anyone.
Max pushed the table forward and halted up to his feet without sparing a glance at us as he walked out of the dinning hall.
I looked at Callum as we exchanged stunned glances at each other.
"It's finally happening Callum" I called out, biting hard on my lower lip as Callum shook his head in annoyance and disbelief.
"We would have to stop Max before he gets out of control and bring destruction to the packhouse" Callum replied and I agreed with his words.
Max needed to be tamed otherwise the consequences afterwards wouldn't be a good one to behold.
