Max's POV

I smirked immediately I sighted Samantha's figure emerge from the woods.

"Fucking bitch," I grinned. People who mistook silence for foolishness or weakness were the ones I despised the most.

She froze in her tracks at the moment she saw me with my soldiers.

With my senses heightened, I could hear her heartbeat throbbing fast, like a rat running out of its hole only to meet a cat waiting there for it.

"M-a-x," her lips quaked, ready to blurt a lie. But I didn't have the time for that.

I had wasted much time already, all of which Callum had taken advantage of.

"It's not what you—" she tried to say, but I shushed her.

Pointing at her, I ordered the soldiers who were with me, "arrest her!"

A bitch like her deserved to rot in jail. Starved and punished without remorse.

"Please, Max. Don't do this!" She screamed as they dragged her away.

She was the least of my problems. If she had some sense, she should have been able to tell from the start that I'd been following her with caution.

I turned to the soldiers who were left. It was time to put those heavy arms they'd been carrying to good use.

"Line up!" I commanded.

There were eight of them left. Two had left, taking Samantha to the dungeon.

The stood side-by-side in a straight fashion, all of them standing at attention.

"Brave soldiers of the Darkmoon pack, are you ready for battle?" I asked them.

There was no hesitance before I got a thunderous "yes, Alpha!"

"And die for the cause of your pack!" I yelled.

"Yes, Alpha!" They echoed once again.

I smiled. That was the type of response that gave me tingles in my stomach. They were the type of soldiers my pack needed, not cowards.

"It's time we took our enemies down — for good!" I yelled.

"Yes, Alpha!"

"Take this message to the other soldiers. Get to the armory room and wear your best kits!" I yelled, turning round and walking off.

"It will rain blood tonight," I muttered between gritted teeth as I walked away.

I asked Gerard, one of the higher ranked soldiers, to come with me as I discharged the others. There was something important I needed to do.

He followed immediately and I made for the dungeon.

The sound of our footsteps echoed in the quiet corridors of the dungeon as we headed to Liv's cell.

"Gerard, you will take Liv to base 112 and make sure it's on max security," I said. "Do you understand?"

"Yes, Alpha," he answered.

Immediately we reached Liv's cell, the cell guard bowed, greeting me.

"Good evening, Alpha Max."

I ignored his greeting. It added nothing to my life. Looking into the cell, Liv was sound asleep on her brand new bed, a privilege a prisoner would never imagine having.

"Has she eaten anything tonight?" I asked.

"No, Alpha," the guard responded. My fist folded. "Her dinner is appointed to be with you at the dinning hall tonight," He added.

I released my clenched fist. Good thing he said that, cause I was about punching a few teeth out of his jaws.

"Open up the door," I demanded.

He unhooked a big bunch of keys hung to the belt holder of his trouser.

About the slot one of the keys into the keyhole of the door, the door of a nearby cell started shaking.

"Please, free me, too, Alpha Max! I have been away from my children for 6 months !" A woman yelled, pulling the metal frame of the door to her cell. "Your father would have forgiven me by now!"

I turned around and met her desperate eyes and her tattered hair.

"I want to see my children!" She screamed, banging her fists on the door.

I ignored her and turned back to the face Liv's cell which the guard had now opened. All that noise had woken her up now.

However, the scent of fresh blood hit my nose and I stopped in my tracks. It came from behind me.

I turned around as the woman's noise continued. She was hitting her head on the door now.

"Please, make her stop," Liv begged. "She's hurting herself."

I didn't know who exactly she was begging, but just like her, I wasn't pleased by the noise and the ugly sight of the woman hurting herself.

"Hand me a towel," I said to the guard.

He rushed out to get the towel and the woman continued hitting her head on the bar.

The guard returned quickly with a white towel. He was about to hand it to me but I waved a hand at him to stop.

I went close to the woman and stopped before her cell. Seeing me, she stopped, her chest heaving up and down as tears poured down her cheeks.

"You need to pipe it down," I said to her, stretching a hand through the space between the iron bars of the door. I caressed her face gently and she stayed frozen in that position.

Slowly, my hand trailed from her cheeks up to her hair and I stroked it gently.

"I mean, the way you talk about what you don't know." My tone grew strong and force my fingers into her hair, grabbing a palm full of it.

"What the fuck do you think you know about my father?!" I yelled.

She shrieked.

With her hair caught within my palm, I pulled her forward and banged her face hard on the metal bars of her cell door.

"What the fuck do you know, bitch?!" I banged her head again, my irritation boiling more.

But she lost consciousness immediately and I let go of her. I turned around immediately and briskly walked up to the guard. Snatching the towel from him, I wiped off blood splattered on my face and hands.

I tossed the towel at the guard and ordered him immediately, "if she doesn't make it, dispose of her."

Liv stood frozen, unable to utter a single word. Perhaps, what she had seen was too much for her to absorb.

"Liv," I muttered her name, but her heart was thumping really fast for her lips to say anything.

"I don't expect a response from you, sweetheart, but I need to let you know that it's time you got ready. You're about to become my Luna as we both wish," I said to her.

The combination of shock and fear on her face made my stomach rumble with excitement. Was there anything more pleasant than that?

"You can take her there, Gerard," I said and turned around to leave.

That was when she finally spoke, but her voice was so shaky that I barely heard her. "Where are you taking me, Max?"

I ignored her and called Gerard over.

"Knock her out so she doesn't give you a tough time," I muttered to him.

"Yes, sir." He nodded head and headed back to Liv's cell while I walked away.

I heard her screaming at him as I walked away. "No! No! Stay away from me! Don't fucking come cl—"

When I heard nothing else, I knew he had silenced her. Good. Now, I could move on to my next plan.

Having her sealed in base 112 was the best thing to do. Even if Callum managed to find a way into the dungeon as the battle was going on, he wouldn't be able to find her.

But he wasn't going to make it past the battlefield. I had no plans of letting an obstacle go past me.
