Prologue

THE OATH

We, Ronan Wilder, Knox Knightly, and Gabriel Sterling, do hereby establish THE OATH.

RECOGNIZING: That monumental careers await, and that premature personal commitments will only hinder our rise to success.

WE THEREFORE PLEDGE:

Clause I: Freedom Until Forty. We vow to remain unencumbered by matrimony, focusing solely on our ambitions until we each attain the age of forty (40). Professional pursuits shall be paramount; significant personal entanglements are deferred.

Clause II: The Binding Nature of This Oath. This Oath is declared with full seriousness. There shall be no withdrawals or justifications for breach.

Clause III: Ramifications of Breach. Should any signatory violate this sacred pledge, the following penalties will be enforced: a.

The offending party must furnish a lavish and diverse supply of premium alcoholic beverages—essentially, the means for a legendary, fully stocked bar—to be divided amongst the loyal signatories. b.

Furthermore, he shall endure a minimum of one decade of spirited and imaginative ridicule from the remaining members.
