Charlotte

Chapter 15

Charlotte

M y wedding night was more amazing than I could have ever asked for. I am so glad I didn’t give my virginity to Eric; I just know it would have been a horrible and painful experience. Javier may have hurt me, but he also made me come harder than I could have ever imagined.

I open my eyes, and I’m startled to see my new husband staring at me.

“Good morning, wife.”

“Good morning, husband,” I whisper, smiling when he grants me with the sexiest grin I’ve ever seen.

“We have to get married today, Carino. I need you to go get ready and go to the church as if we aren’t already husband and wife.”

Reaching up, I touch his cheek. “Okay, but I’m worried, Javi. What if my father does something crazy?”

Javier brushes my hair back gently from my face. “You are my wife. It’s my responsibility to keep you safe, and that’s what I’m going to do. Your father will die if he ever hurts you again, and that’s a promise.”

I can’t help but crack a smile at him. “No one has ever been as kind as you have been with me, Javier.”

“I won’t always be gentle, wife. Once you are healed, I’m going to fuck you hard, and if you aren’t pregnant already, I will make sure I fuck my baby into you.”

That reminds me of what happened last night, and my facial expression must show my panic.

“Javier, you didn’t use a condom. We can’t do that again. What if I get pregnant?”

“Of course you are going to get pregnant.”

“I’m serious. I get you have a breeding kink, but seriously, we can’t have a baby.”

“You are going to have my baby as soon as I can get you pregnant. Why don’t you believe me when I say I want your cunt dripping with my cum. I am going to purposely put my child inside of your belly, and once that one is born, I’m going to do it all over again.”

I pull the sheet protectively around my body. “Jesus, you are a fucking fruit loop Javier. You don’t love me. Plus, what if you get sick of me? What happens with your important little heir then? Will you take them from me and throw me out on the streets? I won’t let you raise my baby as a little soldier, and I sure as fuck won’t be leaving them and letting you raise them alone. I want to be a mother, and I will fight for my child like you’ve never seen before.”

A wide smile spreads across Javier’s face. “This outburst, my little wife, is so hot it makes me want to throw you down and fuck you again. But we can’t; we have a wedding to prepare for. I love that you are willing to fight a powerful cartel leader for your unborn child; I think it’s the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Leaning forward, he wraps his hand around my throat and pulls my mouth to his as he kisses me forcefully.

“You are going to make a fantastic mother, Carino.”

Javier leans back against the headboard, pulling me onto his lap so we are face-to-face. The smoldering look from him causes a rush of warmth between my legs.

“I saw you out on the street in front of the bookstore one day and there was a mother who had gotten separated from her child. You saw the child crying in the center of the sidewalk and were so loving and sweet to her. You kneeled down and held her in your arms before finding her mother, and it reminded me of my sweet mamá. I knew from that moment that I had to make you the mother of my babies.”

“Javier, what happened to your mother? You’ve never spoken of her before,” I ask carefully.

“My father was a cruel man, and he used to beat me. Mamá tried to protect me, even taking the beatings in my place many times, but Father said the only way to raise a strong cartel leader was by making me a man.”

As Javier continues to tell me the story of his parents, a tear slips down his cheek. I reach my hand up to the side of his face and wipe the tear away. His story makes me realize how similar we are. We are both victims of cruel fathers and we both lost our mothers at a young age. We have more in common than I thought, and it makes my heart skip a beat seeing him in this way.

“One day, he was so enraged and beat me so severely my mother stepped in to save me and he lost it. He beat her, then pushed her down the stairs. The last image I have of her is her body laying contorted in an unnatural way at the bottom of the stairs. Blood puddling from beneath her head and realizing the scream that I heard was coming from me.”

My hand goes to my mouth, which is open in surprise. “Oh my God, Javi, I’m so sorry. How could someone be so cruel?”

“Charlotte, I’m going to tell you something I’ve never told another soul. Abuela might have guessed but doesn’t know for sure.”

I wait, holding my breath, not sure what else my husband could have to say that would be so awful that he’s never told another soul.

“My father was gunned down by an unknown assailant. His murderer was never found.” Another tear drops down Javi’s cheek, and his eyes glaze over with a faraway look. “It was me. I murdered him. I’m not nearly a good enough man for you, Char. In fact, I’m selfish; I just wanted the goodness that I saw inside of you for myself.”

As I wrap my arms around him, he lays his head on my shoulder.

“You can’t ever leave me, wife. You are mine now, and I will never let you go.”
